I won't say I hate grocery shopping but I really, really prefer not to do it. If the long lines don't get me, then it'll usually be the sudden desire to buy everything in the food section because I forgot to eat before I arrived, thus shopping with my stomach and not my budget.
One morning, I woke up and knew that by lunch, I'd just be eating my thoughts if I didn't get to the store. But I also had a work deadline so... I caved and decided to browse the aisles of Amazon Fresh — free with a Prime membership — via my phone to put in at least an order big enough to get me through lunch and dinner for the day.
I hadn't checked out Amazon Fresh in a minute and expected to make do with a small food selection for the day. I was pleasantly surprised that the offerings are PLENTIFUL.
Instead of completing my order with a handful of get-me-by items, I ended up buying enough groceries for a full two weeks. And I got free delivery within a two-hour window since my order was $35+! Everything was delivered in these super eco-friendly paper bags.
Of course, the real verdict wasn't determined until I opened the bags and surveyed their contents...
My baby spinach was perfect. I at least expected a couple of brown leaves or some withered ones but no... All beautiful green things and I was all smiles.
Amazon Fresh even treated my eggs like they would their own. The carton was wrapped in this extra cardboard encasement. Not one shell was hurt in transit.
My bananas were the perfect yellow/green ombre situation for my preferences. And my mini watermelon (which I'd never had before but was inspired to buy because it was just on there, LOL) was flawless.
Coffee and creamer? Check! Plus, my creamer was wrapped so it was still cold when I opened it up. 😎☕️
Lemon? Carrots? Stir fry meat? Yes. Yep. For sure. And more! And all of it was FRESH. Pun definitely intended and well-earned.
It felt good to get my grocery shopping done and still have the energy to also cook on the same day. LOL, that's usually not how it goes down at my house. Here are the beginnings of my stir-fry:
Amazon Fresh also has VERY dope household and personal item sections which is what pretty much solidified that I'll rarely walk into IRL grocery stores ever again. I was able to order cotton swabs, glass cleaner, and hand soap.
And although I haven't tried everything yet, I am STOKED about the grooming and hygiene products available. Something sits *very* right in my spirit about hitting the bottom of the deodorant stick and being able to get a new one at my door within two hours.
It's the two-hour free delivery window, the CeraVe products, and the allergy medicine for me 😭. Oh, and the $4.99 one-hour delivery if I'm extra, extra pressed for time.
And did I mention that there are COUPONS?! They're available every single week and baby, I love it here.
As a person who's always dreaded grocery store shopping, I have no idea why I didn't try Amazon Fresh much sooner. But behold, here I am waving goodbye forever to regular IRL grocery store shopping.
Free Amazon Fresh delivery is available for Prime members in select regions.
