I had one of these that lasted for 15 YEARS outside on the shed. In Minnesota where it can be 100 degrees, or 20 degrees below zero. It has survived hail, rain, sleet, snow, and sub-zero temperatures. It finally wore out and I got another. Given the price as an Add-On item, I whish I had added on more. I made the mistake of getting a purple colored one before this one. The colored ones seem to be for indoor lockers and do not hold up outside. The black ones are pretty rugged. You really can't do any better for a reasonably priced indoor/outdoor lock. If you need one, just buy it!

These locks have poor durability and awful breaking points. So why you ask, did I rate these 5 stars? Well, for one, they are stronger than zip-ties and not as easy to cut off (ie with scissors or a knife). The price is amazing for two locks. And both locks are keyless so you don't have to worry about losing a key. Another reason I gave these 5 stars is because from experience in my middle school days, these locks are pretty crappy and easy to break. Therefore, if you are in a chemistry class (from middle school to university) and have to have a mandatory lock on your cabinet, you don't need to pay $20+ for a nice lock that you probably won't have any other use for. This lock is great if you need it to protect things not of value but still would not want to be taken by anyone. For example, if you go to the gym and you have your phone/ipod on you in the gym and all you have are clothes/shoes in your gym locker, this is fine. If you have a backyard and a gate that leads to the alley or street and aren't living in a high crime area but don't want Joe Shmo walking into your backyard just because he can, then this is a good lock. Sometimes all you really need is to show that a lock is present. That nothing will be accessed without some effort to remove the lock- and that may deter most casual thieves. In the school locker rooms, I used to always see kids kick downwards on this lock and force it open. Middle school kids. If in an environment in which people are not usually present throughout the day (School Gym vs Adult/Private Gym) then this lock is useless and you should invest in a stronger lock. This is a lock more for looks/deterrent of amateur thieves. I personally use Sesammee for all my tough/valuable locks Sesamee K436 4 Dial Bottom Resettable Combination Brass Padlock with 1-Inch Hardened Steel Shackle and 10,000 Potential Combinations.

I needed one of these for when I go to AF BMT (Basic military training) because my recruiter told me they could potentially run out and that I’m going to want to make my trip to the BX as short as possible and only grab what isn’t TSA approved. I’ve been using this lock to get more used to a dial lock once again because it’s been several years but this brand has never disappointed on quality and ease.

These are solid basic locks for the price. The dial action is acceptably smooth. Once locked, the latch secures well with minimal lateral play. The shackle does have some vertical play, but it does not negatively impact how secure the latch functions. Since I use more than 2 of these for various stuff, it would be nice to have a color choice for these to better identify locks. It's nothing a permanent marker can't solve, but different colored cases would make it more obvious. I use these almost daily for the temporary lockers at the gym and have never had an issue with them. I also use one outside to lockup the access door to our crawl space, and it still functions well after a couple years (southern climate, minimal snow). If the lock is used outdoors, I recommend spraying it down a bit with WD40 to prevent excessive corrosion. As an everyday, basic needs lock, they work perfect.

To me this is a standard no frills lock. I use this lock on the free lockers at the gym. I haven't intentionally tried to break it, but it seems pretty solid. I've dropped it a few times onto cement floors but I wouldn't expect any damage from that. These locks have been around forever, I had them in middle school. The old ones could be broken into with a put up soda can but I believe the package for this product said it had anti-shim technology which would prevent that sort of attack on it.

Hey, what can I say? It does the job its supposed to do. Keep my stuff safe at the gym locker room. Even though almost nobody else uses locks these days..... I go to a seemingly open locker and what do I see? Everyone else's clothes and belongings. Smh

been using this for years for gym, school, etc and it works excellently. feels secure/robust enough and gets the job done. i see people rating this lock less than 5 stars because it "can be picked" yada yada. honestly, it's $10 for 2 locks so don't expect it to be indestructable but nonetheless, it is extremely sturdy. great product overall and i would say it's best for public settings like school lockers or public gyms and not for maybe like securing your private warehouse full of expensive and valuable goods.

Great locks. I purchased the locks for use at the gym. When i purchased the locks it was an amazon add on item and at a great price. The locks are easy to use and great for use at schools, lockers at the job or at the gym. I would recommend the locks to any one who needs a basic combination lock.

Simple to use, and smooth to open. I am a medical student and have two separate lockers on campus for different purposes and it's really nice to have the same combination for both of my school lockers. I prefer these plain ones to the colored ones because they run so much more smoothly. I am not sure of the reason why. If you want to make it unique, paint it with model paints or add some washi tape to make it stand out. Also, you cannot choose your combination with these locks. They come with a preset combination that does not change. If you have trouble remembering your code, I would type it into your phone or remove the sticker that has the combination on it and place it in your wallet until you are sure that you won't forget it. Keep in mind that these locks can be cut, so it's not the end of the world if you forget your combination. You'll just be out a few bucks for the removal and/or replacement.

Unless you go to the gym with your Cartier necklaces and a laptop full of nuclear secrets, I'd say these are good enough. At ~$3.50 each, you can't beat them. Having two with the same combination saves you about 24 bits of memory in your wet drive, which is almost enough for another pin code somewhere.
