Show me the purple ring. Is it bigger than the yellow ring? A great toy.
Very young children love this toy, and do not settle for cheap plastic. The stacking rings must be made of wood or your child will turn up his or her nose. If your very little ones have trouble with the red ball, just put it away until they are a little older. It requires more dexterity than the rings. Once the child is engaged with this toy, you can sneak in some teaching about color, numbers, size, comparisons, rainbows, etc. A very fine toy and you cannot go wrong with Melissa & Doug's quality.

Well-made, but smaller than expected
These are a great alternative to the plastic stacking rings, however, it is much smaller than I expected. My 10 month old enjoys pulling them off the stick, but it will be another month or two before he can put them back on due to the size. The rings are very well made and I know we will use them for many years!

My child’s favorite toy
My 2 year old daughter absolutely loves this toy. It is made out of wood and is a high quality toy. The colors have not faded or been scratched and she plays with it multiple times a day and is not the most gentle baby with her toys. My only complaint was that is was smaller than i thought it would be although the pieces are all large enough to not have to constantly watch her with it (not that I leave her alone for extended periods). I didn’t read the dimensions so that issue is more my fault.

Fun Colorful learning toy
Our nine month old grandson loves this. Hasn't got the total understanding that he can pull them all off and put them back on in any order, butter loves the colors. I would highly recommend this Melissa & Doug Rainbow Stacker.

Daughter loves it!
Omg, my daughter loooooves this. Its actually supposed to be for +18 plus months, my daughter was 7 months when I got it. I didnt realize that till I got it home. I was worried she would poke herself on the wooden dowel. She hasn't once but I keep an eye on her. She of course cant figure out how to put the rings back on but she lives to knock it over and take the rings off one by one. Its been paramount in motivating to get her crawling. She loves it so much she really starts wiggling to it from wherever she is. Lovely toy. Well worth the couple of dollars.

Fun, even for my little!
I bought these for my 9 month old (at the time) daughter, they've been a hit! She loves the ball on top and so do any littles that come over to play. I didnt quite expect the stacker to be as small, but it is perfect for play time AND fits in the toy bin.

A must have!
This was one of the first Melissa & Doug products we purchased and it was exactly what we were looking for. We are doing a Montessori learning approach and my 17 month old daughter loves this activity! My son has misplaced the topper but I’m sure it will turn up again LOL!

Perfect for 18-month-old, encourages problem solving
Love love love this toy! It's perfect for my 18-month-old. I love that the rings are made of wood, so they're durable. The rings can go on in any order, which is fun for my toddler. The only thing that matters about the order is that the red ball goes on top. Once the ball is on, the top of the stick is inaccessible, so no more rings can go on. When my toddler puts the ball on prematurely, it's fun to watch her problem solve to figure out how to get the rest of the rings on. She also uses problem solving when she wants to pick up the whole toy. She used to try to carry it by the rings, but that obviously doesn't work; they slide right off the top. She's learned by herself to carry it by the base. It's fun for her to play with it by herself and to play with it with me.

I’m surprised by all the negative reviews. We’ve had this toy for about 4 months now and it’s consitantly been my son’s favorite. When he was 7 months old he mostly wanted to play with the ball (perfect size for little hands) and swing the base around. Now, at almost 12 months he loves stacking the rings, chewing on them, and still plays with the ball all the time. All the rings fit well when we got the product, none of the paint has chipped. The rod did come unstuck from the base when my little one repeatedly bashed it against the floor...but a little superglue fixed it and he’s now gotten over his smashing phase. Bottom line: I often take out only this toy for my 12 month old and he can entertain himself with it for almost an hour. A+

Better Than Any Other Stacker!!
I love this so much! I actually got 2, one for my daughter and one for my husband's cousin's daughter. It is so much nicer than the cheap plastic ones and they don't sing unnecessary and annoying songs like some stackers I've seen. These are just the right size and are so cute too! One of the features that I appreciate the most is that the stick that you stack onto is a straight stick. With some stackers, the sticks are cone-shaped and the size of the hole on each ring is different. That doesn't allow the child to put the smaller rings on the bottom. Basically, with those stackers, you can only stack the rings in the exact right order. This one isn't like that though! You can stack the rings in any order that you want which is definitely better for development because it gives them the chance to just practice stacking before they figure out the sizes and colors. I also wanted to comment on the recommended age because it is 18+ months. That is kind of ridiculous for this toy. Actually, I always have that problem with Melissa and Doug, but it isn't a big deal because their toys are so awesome and you can make your own judgment calls on what toys are appropriate for your children at different ages and stages. I'm sure 18 months is approximately when most children are able to easily and effectively stack the rings in the right order...but that doesn't mean you should wait until then to get them this. My daughter is 8 months old and loves this thing! She can just play with the pieces and watch us and her older brother stack until she is able to. For now, she prefers unstacking and that is fine too and is also an important part of her development. The quality of these pieces is fantastic and I strongly recommend this over any other stacker.
