I use these on hazelnuts, walnuts, and pecans. The size is perfect and comfortable. I use soap and then rinse in water after usage and let it air dry or using a proper dish cloth, I can dry it. Skip using the dish washer on it. Dishwashers are evil on wood, knives, and things like these. Hazelnuts are tricky so I place them up high on the teeth of the device. Pecans are huge like walnuts but need more effort to crack them. This will get the job done. Large handles too!

I use the nutcracker every day and it does get quite a bit of abuse. Unlike others I've had, this one appears as though it will last many years. This really is the best of this style nutcracker. Any nutcracker of this style will smash your nuts to a million pieces and send pecan shrapnel across the living room. This one, at least, does it with at least minimal effort and maximum comfort. If you don't want to pay $40 for that fancy Swedish model this is your next best bet. On a side note, the description mentions that it includes picks but mine did not. I believe this is a typo and meant for the 5-PC set.

This cracker deserves an award in art. At first glance you just know its love at first sight. If anyone can make a cracker look sexy, Oxo did it perfectly! It reminds me of a fine design out of Italy. It has beautiful lines and a solid look and feel with a strikingly gleaming finish. It's very heavy and it will crack your lobster claws with minimal effort. It's designed to do the job and made to last while looking good and it's worth every penny and more. Very rare to find well made products these days
This is a hefty and well made unit and has a nice feel to it. You can place your nut in the serrated opening, wrap your free hand around the whole end and gentle squeeze the cushioned handles. The nut cracks and if you squeeze to hard your free hand will catch the small pieces that may break off. Doesn't require much effort to crack the nuts and you easily maintain control at all times. Worked great on walnuts and almonds. The slight contours and tapered serrated opening locks the nut in place and allows different nut placements and various leverage.
