Best toaster after research
The Cuisinart CPT-180 Metal Classic 4-Slice Toaster, Brushed Stainless is the best toaster that I found after significant research on Amazon and other website, and in stores like BestBuy and Bed, Bath & Beyond. - First, and most importantly, it toasts properly - evenly and without drying out the bread. I tried also Kenmore Elite 76774 4-Slice Auto-Lift Long Slot Toaster in Stainless Steel but I returned it because it was drying out the toast too much and it was huge, taking up a lot of countertop space. - Not too big - never understand why some toasters are as big as a toaster oven or a small microwave... It's a simple appliance. The CuisineArt toaster is just the right size. - Beautifully designed with some retro elements - Affordable mid range price - practically 2-3 times cheaper than the expensive non-professional toasters, like Breville, etc. NOTE: I had the toaster for less than a week. I cannot comment on the product reliability or CuisineArt's customer support quality. Future will tell... :)

Great gift for married daughter
My daughter's toaster of many years bit the dust, so I looked around for something nice for her birthday and came across this model. It looks kind of retro which fits her tastes, so I had it sent to her house. She has raves about how well it works and it is the best toaster she ever had. She is not just saying that to me because it was a gift - If she had a problem with it, she would tell me. It handles bread or other items up to 1.5 inches wide. Plus the slide out crumb tray is really nice to have. It has a setting called defrost. It has controls to set the amount of browness on your toast, too. The defrost setting works good if you are just taking your bread slices out of the freezer. You don't have to wait for them to unthaw. But she loves the toaster. Says it works great for english muffins and thicker bread and she is very happy with it.

I did a ridiculous amount of research
Because this is about my sixth toaster, albeit half of those were from goodwill or yardsales, and I was ready to be done buying toasters. [fingers crossed] I can confirm that this one does an excellent job, evenly toasted on both sides and dark as I want, while still soft on the inside—so, no “melba toast” effect where the whole slice becomes a dry plank. (Like when you make toast in a toaster oven.) There’s a very similar Cuisinart model at Costco that I almost bought, but prefer the rotary knobs and also this one takes up a little less space because the levers aren’t “frenched in” by moving the whole surface outward.

Very happy I purchase this toaster
It replaced one that quit browning. We like darker toast, and this new one has up to #6 on settings. One can insert frozen bread for there is a selection to indicated you are using frozen bread. A big thing for me, is that when the lever is depressed to begin toasting, it is securely in place. Some toasters in the past would release and have to be re-pressed. When the toast is done, a definte click can be heard. The lever can be raised slightly to retrieve toast that is shallower. Sound like an ad, but I am so happy with something we use daily.

Sleek and Even Toasting
A toaster is a toaster; right? Ha! That's what I thought until I purchased this one. To be fair, I just received this toaster in the mail and have only used it a few times. Still, I love it. It arrived packaged quite well. Which can sometimes be a problem. From the finish to the controls to the actual use the toaster is exactly what we were looking for. I only have good things to say. It toasts very evenly and there is enough variation within the dial to toast fast or slowly. My children ages 14, 10 and 7 are the primary users. They find it to be easy to transport from the cabinet to the counter(it's light) and easy to use. They also said it looks cool... It does. I like to store our toaster, but if you don't have room to do that; it would look just as nice sitting on the counter. At almost $50, I have never spent this much on a toaster, but with all the use its going to get I felt it would pay for itself. PLUS, it was about 420 more at every store I checked. If something changes i will update my review.

I love this toaster!
This is the best toaster I have ever purchased. I have always owned the basic two slice one setting toaster and never really gave it much thought. Then my husband decided he wanted to update our appliances and talked me into this toaster. I will admit, I was apprehensive. Let’s be honest, it’s a toaster, it just toasts. I was wondering why we would ever spend more than ten dollars on something that just toasts but I relented and the toaster was purchased. It arrived in great packaging and undamaged. I took it out of the box and was instantly in love. The toaster looks so adorably retro and the symmetry of the handles and levers on both sides of the dual toaster is very nice. It is a very sleek stainless steel with black accents. The toaster not only has different number settings for the level of browning you want but it also has four settings; bagel, defrost, reheat, and cancel. Since buying this toaster I have started purchasing dessert breads (in an amount that I’m too embarrased to mention) and freezing the excess when they are discounted. Whenever I feel the desire to have a sweet treat, I grab the bread out of the freezer and use the reheat setting. I swear to you, it tastes just as good from frozen as it does fresh. Another feature I love about this toaster is that it has separate crumb trays for each side of the toaster. I don’t know why I like that, but the thought that the company went that extra little step is just a nice touch. Overall, though I initially resisted, I absolutely love this toaster. I would recommend it to anyone and would buy it again. Just a great product for a great price.

I LOVE this toaster!!!!!!!!!!!
In the past I have always gotten toasters that were $9.99 , $12.99....they work for a while, and then comes the day when you have to press the lever over and over and over....my son raved about his Cuisinart, so I decided to give it a try. What a difference in quality!!!! I freeze my bread because we don't use it often...so, I placed the frozen bread in the toaster, depressed the lever - and it was a solid click!!! Then I pressed the DEFROST button. I assumed I would then have to press it again to toast but no, it knew to defrost THEN toast. It toasted to perfection. The pull out tray is nicely located in the front. The slots are plenty wide. The body is not flimsy. On my old toaster I was patting it on the side upside down to remove ALL the crumbs and it dented!!! This one is definitely worth the extra money. My son has had his for years...meanwhile I have gone through 5 cheaper brands.

Buy with peace of mind.
Easy to use. Works perfectly. Once you find the number that makes toast browned the way you like it, you’re all set! Works great on bagels! Have had for many months now and use almost daily so it has had the opportunity to show off any quirks and I’m glad to say, there are none. The 4 slice feature is life saver when making for quantities of toast or bagels. I researched toasters extensively and based on reviews, I went with this one. Have not been sorry for one minute. Buy with peace of mind.

Finally a toaster that toasts evenly!
Had a cheap S..B..m that finally gave up the ghost and needed a replacement. Searched reviews ad-noisome and finally decided to go with this Cuisinart. Glad I did as it does toast store type bread very evenly. The only thing I wish it did was toast only on one side for the bagel setting. I don't eat bagels but it would be great when grilling hamburgers and toasting only the inside of the bun. Oh well, small gripe for what appears to be an awesome toaster! If it lasts, I'm an eternal fan; if not, then I will repost and let you know. But for now, just buy it!

3 years and counting
This is a review for Cuisinart CPT-180 Metal Classic 4-Slice Toaster, Brushed Stainless. This toaster has been in daily service for three years and has performed well. It's a moderately priced appliance so I don't expect perfection, but this unit has come pretty close. The bagel setting heats the entire bagel, not just the exterior like other toasters with bagel settings. The reheat button comes in handy, especially when I space out - which happens a little more often these days ;) There are lots of toasters that claim to have a retro look but this is unique in it's old school feel. With periodic maintenance (emptying the crumb trays, using a toothbrush to clean the elements, etc.) this is a great investment. Note: I'm sorry to hear about some of the problems reported in other reviews. If it were me, I'd send the unit back in a New York second because Cuisinart needs the feedback, and more than that, the reviewers need a toaster they can count on. If you feel this review was helpful, please check "yes" below. Thanks and stay toasted!
