This stuff brought my tomatoes back from the near dead! I was container gardening and hadn’t realized just how much a full plant zaps the nutrients out of the soil. I had to put more than the recommendation of dosage to see a result. I was a full season behind in fertilizing. Once it kicked in, BAM! Tomatoes galore. Now, about once a month I shove two or three into the soil and it seems to keep the plant fruiting and green. It’s the middle of a Los Angeles winter and I have over 20 tomatoes on the vines. The plant is so big I had to string up the vines because it out grew the cage by feet and they were just flopping over!!!! I’ll never tomato garden without this stuff again!!!

These have made a huge difference in this year's tomato plants. I placed a couple of these in the ground about six inches away from each plant. After a week, the plants were distinctly greener and looked healthier. Right now, a month later, the plants are strong, bushy and loaded with blossoms. Based on early indications, I expect a lot of tomatoes this year. (Incidentally, they also seem to be giving the peppers and eggplants an equally strong boost!)

I actually did a little experiment to see which worked better, Jobes spikes or MiracleGro. I purchased two identical hanging baskets of petunias. They were purchased on the same day from the same store. The basket with the Jobes spikes developed gorgeous blooms and thrived beautifully. The other basket was pathetic. Finally, I put the Jobes spikes in the basket that was getting the Miracle Grow and now it is beautiful as well.

I bought a brand-new house last December, and the builder had planted a lot of Formosa azaleas in the front yard. They were puny and seemed to get more sickly as the winter passed. Even worse, the soil here (Texas Gulf coast) is like brown Play-Doh because of all the clay and is awful for growing things. I was almost ready to tear the azaleas out this spring and plant something else, but as a last resort I tried these spikes. (Do not try to pound them into dry soil, get it moist first.) Wow, within 2 weeks all the yellow leaves were gone and lots of little green leaves started shooting out all over. Guess I'll have to wait to see more flowers, but they sprang back to life and seem healthy and happy. Very satisfied with the results.

I read some of the reviews where folks commented that the spike broke apart and were difficult to place. My solution? I waited until after a nice rain, cleared away leaves and debris to get to soil, and used a dibble to make a "pilot" hole. Could NOT have been easier! It added maybe 5-8 seconds work for each plant, but each spike is well placed and unbroken. As for results-we shall see! But I fully expect them to be better than if I'd done nothing.

5/2018 update: I still have the same 15 potted blueberry bushes and still use these spikes with great results. Early this year I did re-pot all of them. They were still doing great but most of the pots needed more soil. So I slid them out of their pot, put some fresh bagged soil with some peat moss into the pot before putting the blueberry back in. Then topped it with some more soil, peat moss and one of these fertilizer spikes. They loved it and are putting out some huge blueberry's in mass quantities again this year. Regular watering and these spikes still make me look like I know what I'm doing. I started planting these over 4yrs ago when my wife was first pregnant because I wanted my kid to enjoy them. Well my daughter is a little over 4 yrs old now and she absolutely loves them. I have a ridiculous amount of berry's. My 4 potted "triple crown thornless blackberry's" are also loving these spikes. They haven't ripened yet but they definitely look happy. It's looking like I am going to start using these spikes for blackberry's also. If you grow tomatoes, check out the Jobes tomato spikes. They have been giving me great results as well. Nobody has given me anything for my reviews. I'm just a fan of there products. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Original post (Jan 10, 2014): When I first got into my blueberry obsession I would buy the granular type fertilizers and either over did it and burnt them or under did it by forgetting to apply fertilizer for too many months. During winter they would frequently lose all of their foliage and just hibernate for the winter because of my neglect. I now use a single spike for each of my 15 potted blueberry bushes. I put a spike in about once every 4 months (3 per year) and almost immediately after spiking the pot there is an explosion of growth. The blueberries now keep their leaves all year and produce wayyy more blueberries. Amazing what feeding your plants will do... These are what I use. I'm no botanist and i'm sure there are better things that can be done but for a regular Joe like myself, these spikes work great. When guests look at all of my blueberries it now looks like I know what I'm doing. If anyone knows of a better product for "the forgetful gardener", let me/us know in the comments.

We've used these Jobe's spikes for our endless summer hydrangeas each of the last three years. They have taken off and bloom multiple times of year. Our neighbors and friends are always raving about how great our hydrangeas plants look.

These things work wonders. I planted my tomatoes with these spikes the 1st of May this past summer. May 24th I was admitted to the hospital & did not return home until July 10th. The grass & weeds were 2 foot tall. The only time I could even get outside was to go to the doctor. There was no way I could go out & work in my garden. And then in August from my kitchen window I started to see red spots out in the garden. It was tomatoes. I ended up with some of the best tomatoes I've ever grown. I ate ripe tomatoes until Thanksgiving. My tomatoes flourished on Jobe's Fertilizer Spikes and rain water with grass & weeds 5 foot tall by the time the frost killed them. I would recommend & buy them again.

If I had a beanstalk I would be halfway to the castle by now. I put these little things in a sulking hydrangea potted plant and I have blooms as big as a huge cantaloupe. It is a three year old plant that has never performed well. One thing to be warned about with a hydrangea, fertilizer will change the color. This was a brilliant blue, what there was of it, before. Now it is a lovely mauve/maroon.

My roses were suffering from a dry year and the unfortunate truth that the yard is on a mound of claydirt. With these spikes (regularly placed as directed), I saved one plant from near death, and the other rose bush trippled in size. They are still in bloom today, Sept . 27th, in Southern New England. If you are struggling with your roses, it could be the nutrients in the soil - try these and you will notice a difference if you use them as directed and water at least every other day.
