This machine has got some serious steam power! We are in the process of selling our home and I was looking for something to help me give a deep clean without me having to doing all of the work. This has been a life saver! I have cleaned grout, stripped wallpaper, cleaned louvered painted doors, cleaned Windows, and done a general cleaning of baths and kitchens. What I love is that things are sterilized without chemicals and everything smells so fresh and clean. It's hard to say how long the tank lasts because it really depends on your project and how fast you are using the steam. I let it cool off for 20 minutes before I refill it, which is fine for me. Some may find it annoying to be stopped, but I enjoy the break and usually have other things to work on in the interim. To save the brushes, spray, then scrub. Don't keep spraying or they will melt easily. I couldn't find replacement brushes on the Amazon website for this model, but they are easily available on McCulloch's website. One bit of advice: if you put the nozzle down for a bit and pick it up to use again, you won't get steam right away, you will get a stream of hot water. Make sure you are near a sink or bucket to direct it into unless you want hot water running down everything.

I bought this steam cleaner due to a nasty experience with Bed Bugs that I picked up from a hotel in Georgia. I used bed bug spray and diamataceous earth to spray my mattress and boxspring then I wrapped them in liners. That worked alright, but the Bed bugs climbed up my wall and laid eggs on the molding. I realized that I was going to need a better option. I found about this steamer and I went ahead and invested in it because I wanted to use it to steam clean my carpets regularly. I also didn't account for the fact that my wardrobe is wood, so it didn't make sense to try to spray that whole thing down. This little guy came through the mail very swiftly. It is extremely efficient! I steam cleaned my entire bedroom, clothing, bed, boxspring, desk, closet, carpets, living room couches and carpets and the foyer carpets within a few hours and maybe 3-4 refillings. And this thing will be great to have around for deep cleaning everything. So all in all I think its a good choice for a household. As far as heavy duty use for cars and businesses, I think you could find something a bit better.

Got my new steam cleaner yesterday and couldn't wait to get started on my bathroom grout! The instructions were easy to understand, and I was happily steaming away in 10 minutes. I had heard amazing things about grout cleaning, but WOW! The pressure nozzle with a nylon utility brush really did the trick. Picture of the floor attached for your viewing pleasure! Lower left corner shows the "before", upper shows "after". After the bathroom, I was excited to try other areas- so I moved on to all the sinks and faucets in my house. You know those super hard to clean places around the little handles and spouts, and behind the faucet? I usually clean with these with an old toothbrush, but it never really gets everything. Not so with the steam cleaner!! Everything was sparkling and looked brand-new afterwards. I forgot to take photos, but I'll update this review next time if it ever gets bad again (unlikely, as I am now addicted to steaming). Once I was done with the sinks and faucets, I moved on to the water dispenser in the fridge that gets all that gunk on the inside, and the inside of the oven, and my patio furniture. All with amazing results. By that point, I had been steaming for about two hours and needed a break. Today, though, I'll be using the upholstery attachment to do the patio cushions and my living room couches! Next week, maybe I'll detail my car! Told my boyfriend about my cleaning escapades and now he wants to steam clean his carpeted stairs (they're really gross). If we end up doing it, I'll post more photos to compare. I can't believe the value for the price on this product. It absolutely works as advertised, and feels very sturdy and well-made without being heavy. I am impressed on so many levels, and I can tell that this will get a lot of use at my house. The only possibly negative thing I could say about this was that the handle got pretty hot when I was steaming continuously, so I would recommend only holding the button down for a couple seconds at a time, then pausing to wipe, then repeating (it got hot when I was holding the button down for 10+ seconds). This could be easily remedied by putting on some gardening gloves or even an oven mitt if you really need to have longer bouts of steaming. All in all though, I love this steamer!

Some guy posted a video of “warm” steam only being produced by his machine, and it’s appearant he either didn’t read the set-up correctly, or didn’t bother to properly heat up the machine. This thing gets HOT. Certainly, if you spray the hose at your hand from a foot away, you may only get warm air—but that is not the way to properly use the machine. Having your hand 6 inches of away from the nozzle as it sprays might burn you. For sanitation purposes, it’s instructed to spray an area at *1/2 inch* distance. Letting the machine heat-up properly, you absolutely feel the hot steam if you’re careful. I emphasize these points because I was incredibly skeptical and anticipating I’d have to end up returning the machine. But it exceeded expectations. It absolutely does what it advertises. And it DOES sanitize. Simply follow the proper instructions in the manual. Let the machine heat-up. And even then, give it an extra minute or two. As you spray, the light may come on, an indication you need to heat-up the water again, but even so—the steam produced during this period is still incredibly hot. Use common sense. Overall, this machine worked. The amount of steam procured for 2 cups, about 32 oz—produced about a half hour of continuous hot steam. Which was surprising as well. Great machine.

This is my second McCulloch and my third steamer (I had a SteamFast previously). Both brands worked extremely well and had their good points and negative points. The McCulloch is a smaller hose in diameter but a longer hose and cord which I really liked. but the SteamFast designed a storage place for the cord to wrap around which I really liked. Both have problems with the hose's rubber covering detaching over time. I found if I removed the attachments after using, there was less pressure on the McCulloch's hose (weak point is near the top of the handle) and the detaching was curbed to a greater extent. When tugged around, both canister type steamers they had trouble detaching but the SteamFast 's weak point for detaching is on the canister itself. So I if I bought it again, I would carry the canister around while I mopped.. Both are very light weight and that really is not a problem. Since I have ceramic tile floors, both of the canisters do the job they were supposed to do, but they last only about a year and a half when used every other day, Still, I highly recommend them for cleaning your floors over the steam mops I have used in the past..

For anyone experiencing the hell that is bedbugs here is your sanity!!! I found out I had bedbugs Monday. Couldn’t sleep became obsessed and researched for hours...found out I needed a steamer, this one gets up to 200 and I think bedbugs die around 120. At first I was skeptical... and then I started to steam. They hid. They ran. They died! Vengeance is mine. I steam cleaned every inch of my apartment, every item of clothing, every sock purse towel, anything non electronic was steamed. It’s so high pressure I got the baseboards, the cracks where they were hiding... I can breathe again. I will be using this on a monthly basis to steam and there is a bigger component for the floors and couches and stuff of that sort. If you are on a budget and fighting bedbugs try this. I would say it lasts about 30 minutes at a time. It took about 9 hours for me to get my 2 bedroom (1300sq ft) done. If you have a larger house or some help get two of things and get the job done. So far I have not seen or felt any bedbugs. As a precautionary manner I will be having the entire apt steamed but I honestly don’t even think it’s necessary. This product saved my sanity!

I work as a house painter and handyman. Generally I avoid wallpaper removal, but every now and again I find myself in a situation where it has to be done. One such a situation came up recently, and I went out and rented an Earlex Wallpaper steamer, same as I've done before any other time. The job kind of got bigger than we had expected (removing wallpaper to find MORE wallpaper behind it! Ugh!) and so one of my helpers brought his McCulloch MC1275 into the jobsite to help out. Holy cow, the difference. The McCulloch has a smaller reservoir for water, but it is not constant-on, like the Earlex is. Also it heats up to readiness in about 8 minutes, rather than 45 for the Earlex. Additionally, the steam comes out at a higher volume than the Earlex. Pretty much on any measurement axis, the McCulloch is superior. Now I know, you're probably scratching your head why I would be posting a wallpaper steamer review for something that is technically not a wallpaper steamer. So here's the kicker. Over the weekend returned the Earlex Piece of Crap Steamer (TM) to HD and Primed myself a McCulloch MC1275. On monday we had TWO of these bad boys running, and the wallpaper came down like rain! When the job was done, I cleaned up this little beauty and took it home to my wife, who promptly spent the entire night steam cleaning everything in sight. Literally, she did a dance when reading the instruction manual and found out everything she could sterilize with it. We have polished concrete floors throughout our home, and this beast sterilizes and shines them up beautifully. We're very pleased with the microfiber covers, and there's approximately 64 billion attachments to go with it for various and sundry applications such as sanitizing fine china and degreasing the engine on your 1972 Cadillac Bonneville. And it's worth noting, the manual says it can hold 48oz of water, MAX. I have definitely put 64oz into it with no issues whatsoever. Only "con" I've come across so far is that if you pull it fast enough, the "hubcaps" come off the back wheels. So...don't go drag racing your McCulloch MC1275, as you may regret it.

How did I live without this steamer before? Clean freak's savior!! I have only had this little guy for a couple weeks. So far I have cleaned EVERYTHING! Stainless steel appliances are super shiny. Marks on interior walls are gone (just don't leave the steamer on one spot too long, or it takes the paint off). Cleaned all my mirrors & Windows - no streaks! Then I spent about 3 hours deep cleaning my bathroom with the steamer, & the steam lasted throughout. I love using the floor steaming option too! It picks up all the dirt! Arizona is too hot to clean my car right now, but I can't wait to use it to detail the interior of my car! As of now, I'm in love & no problems.

My wife and I have a steamer but it just was out dated. I saw a vid with this steamer and it's ability to stop bed bugs. It's awesome! It takes 5 seconds of steam to kill a bed bug (yes, we counted). This thing can go just under 40 minutes full blast nonstop. After two weeks, we've cut our bed bugs down 90%. Possibly 100%. The steam can literally reach across our king size bed. It's powerful! Bugs evacuated their hidding spots just to get blasted in the open. It says to wait at least eight minutes for the steamer to heat up, but if you wait about 30 you will get a firehose. It comes with several attachments. My wife and I fight over it because she loves to use it on the floors, rugs, ex. I love getting the bugs around carpets, dressers, and beds. Use the skinny attachment for bugs and big attachments for floors. Excellent buy if you need a power steamer for bugs! Highly recommended from my family. Happy hunting!

I previously owned a version of this steamer. There have been some improvements. This version, like the previous one, does a great job of producing enough steam with great pressure for household cleaning and sterilization. The canister is lighter and more mobile and that translates into less activation energy for me to pull it out for periodic heavy cleaning of bathrooms. Because it's a canister (vs. handheld), there is less weight to hold up as you are using it on vertical surfaces such as shower grout lines. There are many attachments that I really don't use, but you might. I also want to mention I recently tried a well rated hand held steamer thinking it would be easier to use but I didn't care for it at the end of the day. The pressure was weak, it took two hands to hold it up as I used it, and, generally, it just didn't do a good job. One thing to consider is whether you have a place to store the unit, so check out the dimensions.
