When I contracted a severe upper respiratory infection a few years a I found that I couldn't tolerate dust of any kind in my home. The old kitty litter was OUT and yesterday's news became my new litter of choice. I've continued to use it for several reasons. Besides being dust free it is less messy. It is made of pressed pellets rather than clay. I use a lot less litter. The pressed pellets absorb urine and expand. I fill the pan with about 2 inches of pellets each time. Within three to four days the pellets have doubled their bulk. I simply toss the old litter and start over. The litter doesn't seem as smelly to me as long as it is changed out every few days. I buy the litter from Amazon when I need it. It is delivered to my door and delivery is free with my prime. No more hauling it from the store, in and out of the car. The price is reasonable, actually less than the grocery store charges. And it is delivered fast. I have never had to wait more than 2 days for delivery.

I use this for my guinea pig. It is one of my favorite products. I keep my guinea pig cage in my front room and since I started using Yesterday's News in her pee corners, my front room does not smell like guinea pig... just hay! I highly recommend Yesterday's News to people with small animals. I even use a small amount under the softer bedding in my rat cage just in the name of absorbing liquids and keeping the pee smell down. It is a little bit hard to be a primary bedding but as long as they have other nesting materials, they're happy and I am happy.

This litter is actually the best litter we have ever used for our two cats. We started looking into alternatives to clay litter because we wanted to get a litter that is biodegradable. We started with your average pine pellets but those made a mess and actually made the house smell terrible! The pine for some reason had an awful stench and especially when combined with cat poop and pee. This litter traps odors fairly well, but it's best to remove the solid waste right away. This litter is biodegradable, traps odors fairly well, and does not make a mess at all! The cats do not track it out of their litter box like they would clay or pine pellets. The only problem is it's kind of hard to see where the pee is because the pellets are dark. You should definitely buy this litter. It's also reasonably priced for being eco-friendly when compared to over eco-friendly litters.

Best litter ever! I worked as a vet tech for 7 years and we used this litter for our declaw and wound cats. So easy to clean, doesn't smell, doesn't cover their paws in nasty pee clay (ugh.. I hate that..). Now I use it with our own cat and it's just my favorite! I like the pine litters as well, but pine dust gets all over my cat just like having hamsters, etc. So that's why I prefer this litter over the pine. Still cleaner in my experience.

I've been using this brand of litter for the last 4 years- here's how I got to using this brand of cat litter. Backstory: Our family has 3 cats, which is for us one cat to many. Unfortunately the 2 males cats team up and bully the one female cat and we've tried many of the ideas from "My Cat From Hell" TV show, but in the end our one female kitty is most happy living in her own cat "suite" in our bedroom/private bath. Since her litter box is now in our bathroom I needed a cat litter that would not stick to the floor of a wet bathroom when she accidentally sends litter flying from the box. Let me tell you, the clumping litter is a nightmare to scrape off the floor of a wet bathroom floor. I looked into those expensive litter box systems that attach to your toilet, but after reading some reviews about the smell of baked cat poop permeating through the home.. yeah I knew that was out of the question. So after a lot of trial and error we ended up trying yesterdays news. We have not changed litter since we started this litter. It's perfect for our situation and our kitty. 1. It does not clump- this is a must-have for any litter box in a bathroom 2. It traps odors! Yay! No baked cat poop smell 3. It's clean and made of recycled newspaper I used to buy this litter at our local grocery store, but I've found its cheaper and more convenient to buy through amazon. Hope this was helpful to anyone looking to try this litter for your kitty.

I adopted a rescue cat, and this was the first pet I've ever had. He was a stray (and 2-4 years old) so I was concerned he may not adjust well to a litter box. The shelter used clay litter but after doing research I decided this was the healthier option for both of us, as well as eco-friendly! I had it sitting out in a litter box when I brought him home and had sectioned off a playpen for him to stay in the first couple of days before letting him out into my one bedroom apt (he was very scared at the shelter and liked to burrow). He immediately used the litter box, with no issues at all! Now over a month later he continues to have no problem using the litter box and has never had an accident. The litter doesn't tack anywhere and make a mess, and if a pellet or two escapes it's very easy to clean up. I have his litter box on a mat that catches the flyaways and it's usually pretty clear. I love this litter and will never use another brand! I scoop the box everyday to get rid of the mess, and completely change it every two weeks.

We have cats and ferrets, but only use Yesterday's News with the ferrets. We've been using it for a long time now, after initially trying Marshall's and at least one other brand, and found it works the best for how ferrets pee and poop. When they decide they're actually going to use their box. Unlike cats that spend however long covering their stuff like it's shake-and-bake, ferrets pee, they poop, they hop out, wipe their butt on the floor, and they're off. The paper pellets absorbs the pee well and the poop sticks nicely to them to form scoop-able clumps. It is marketed for cats, but I can see how the pellets could turn to mush from the amount cats go, especially compared to ferrets. We'll stick with regular clumping litter for the cats and Yesterday's News for the ferrets. Plus, it's cheaper on here and I don't have to go to the store and lug a bag home.

I am currently using yesterday's news for the first time and I am almost at the end of my first bag. I am using it in multiple litter boxes for my two lionhead rabbits. For this purpose, I LOVE it. I'm not sure how I would like it for my cat litter box (I really prefer my clumping scoopable litter and so does my kitty), but for my bunnies it is amazing. I sometimes go 2 days max before I completely dump their boxes, but generally I dump them nightly, mainly because poops get stuck to the hair on their butts if you dont. Speaking of sticking to their butt hair... I love how I am never picking any of this litter off of their fluffy little butts. This was an issue with several other brands I tried before yesterday's news. I have used plain ol newspaper, shredded paper, shavings, carefresh, etc and nothing seems to keep the pee smell down as well as this does. It's also really easy to change boxes, no picking small pieces of litter off the box because it paper mache'd itself to the side. A little goes a long way too. I usually put about 2 cups of litter on the side of the box they use and hay on the other and as they use their box the litter swells so if you use too much I could see an overflow issue, or peeing over the side because that corner of the box is so high. Overall, this has been my favorite bunny litter hands down.

I use this litter for rats in their litter box and it is very good at reducing odors. The pellets are not dusty (which is an issue for rats) until they become wet but even then they're usually covered by a layer of pellets and my rats do not appear to be bothered by it. I was initially concerned since my rats appeared to be eating the pellets but now they just like to break the pellets into smaller pieces. However, I do believe that these pellets, when wet, do emit a faint sour odor. However, the odor isn't really noticeable and more frequent changes solves that problem.

This litter is the only type I use for my cat and rabbits. Though it seems expensive compared to commercial clay litters, the benefits far outweigh the extra expense. I only use enough to cover the bottom of the litter pan and change dump boxes daily. Surprisingly, the paper litter soaks up urine quickly and odors do not linger. This product is also safe for rabbits to ingest, whereas clay is not. Have tried generic paper litter to only have so-so results-- they don't soak up the urine as well. Has gone up in price over the last year, but it's a necessary expense in my household. I've read the bad reviews and it seems those boxes are not being dumped daily. While it seems more of a chore initially, it actually keeps your house cleaner and healthier. For 5 mins a day, I dump, clean and replenish three litter boxes. Consider the alternative-- allowing an animal to urinate and defecate in a box in your house and NOT change it every day... that's wwaaayyyy more disgusting. And, dumping the box daily also allows you to monitor your pet's output. Yes, animals are nasty and yes, as owners we have to clean it up. This product makes the chore quick and simple.
