My cats eat expensive prescription cat food for their medical conditions. The food comes in paper bags which once opened expose the food to air, humidity and insects. I fill Vittles Vault Jr.s with the foods, keep them close to the food dishes and re-fill the dishes as needed. The food is fresh and safe from insects. I can easily lift a full Vittles Vault Jr. to pour from it. There is no need to scoop from a paper bag or keep messy paper bags of pet food stored. I highly recommend replacing paper bags of pet food with either a Vittles Vault Jr. or keeping the food in the larger Vittles Vault--especially useful for big bags of dog food.

So the weight vs volume debate for the 50 pound container as it relates to the size of the kernel will hold 100 pounds of rice. I bought a 50 pound bag and it's at the halfway point. I get oats and other grain in 25- 50 pound bags so I'm thinking the 30 pounder should work. The wide opening makes for easy access and the food grade plastic and air tight seal keeps things fresh and any critters out. I looked for many containers that were easier to open the the 5 gallon buckets and this is it. Well worth the extra money hoping to get 10 to 20 years from this as it is indoors. Also it came with a handy large cup. Use dish soap and warm water before first use, let air dry the strong plastic smell should disapate.

I buy 30-45lb bags of kibble every month for my husky. I never thought about investing in a container to keep her food more fresh until I read reviews and decided to try it for myself. I noticed she would eat more of her dry food within the first week of a new bag, probably because it was fresh, since the purchase of the vittles vault she eats her dry kibble way more often. I am so happy with this purchase and I loved seeing that this came with a free scoop (probably is equivalent to a cup)! I purchased the 50lb container and it was perfect! I feed my girl taste of the wild so the kibble bits are average sized and a 30lb pound fits perfectly with lots of room to spare so I more than positive it is true to its size. It is also completely air tight and I haven't had any issues with bugs as promised! Worth the purchase!

I used to use jumbo clips to close the 50lb pounds of dog food, this product has eliminated that! I mix my dog foods, and I used have to separate bags open to pull food from each, now, I can just combine them and keep them airtight together. Checkout my photos, I was able to fit a 50lb bag and a 30lb bag of dog food....what a difference, and it is a great space saver. Airtight claims seem to hold true under a water test, as I washed the inside thoroughly before I put the dog food in. Item feels durable and plastic is thick enough to keep the food secure. Packaging was sufficient and fast with Amazon prime (as always), overall a bargain, I can imagine these containers selling for twice the price at the local big box stores. Thanks.

This works perfectly to store my dog food. I wanted to be able to store my dog food along with the original bag inside one big container. I was able to fit my 38 lb bag of dog food entirely inside of this vault. I don't want to have to clean out the oils and crumbs that dog food leaves behind in the buckets I was originally storing it in because Oils eventually go bad so cleaning the container at least once a year is what people should be doing if you're pouring the dog food directly into a container. With this awesome container I now can fit the whole bag inside (with a little bit of maneuvering of course) . I just cut the top of the bag off once I have it inside and Im good to go. I love the round lid and love size of this container for it fits perfectly in the bottom of my pantry and love it's square shape making it look nice and fit more efficiently.

We were originally using a Rubbermaid trash container to store our dog food but the lid didn’t have an airtight seal. Vittles Vault is the perfect container for keeping your pet’s dry dog food fresh. It's light weight and more compact than the Rubbermaid trash can we were using in the past. Smaller bags of dog food (around 25 lbs.) will fit into the Vittles Vault with the food left inside the bag. When we buy larger bags (40-50 lbs.), we just dump the food into the Vault. We wash out the remaining crumbs at the bottom of the Vittles Vault before dumping the next bag of food into it. My wonderful husband solved the problem of having to fiddle with the lid to get it to line up properly with the threads in the container. He used a black Sharpie pen to draw an arrow on the container where there is a notch in the thread rings, and another arrow on the lid where the bottom thread begins. (I uploaded two pictures to help you see what I'm referring to.) Now all we need to do is line up the two arrows for a hassle-free spin of the lid into a locked position.

Living alongside a forest, we had no problem finding effective containers that kept the raccoons from devouring our months allowance of chipmunk, squirrel and bird food. Without the option of placing this expensive food stash inside the house or in any shed or garage, it became a challenge when a bear discovered us as a food source. So I gave this vittles vault a try. Neighbors and the like actually found this idea comical and wished me a sarcastic "good luck". This container really took a beating because this bear was stubborn, persistent and a little powerhouse. It took only two further unsuccessful midnight raids before our Yogi friend finally gave up. We have not seen him since. The only fault with the product is the rubber seal along the inside of the lid had loosened and kept falling off within the first week of use, nothing a little glue couldn't take care of but it does seem to be breaking down. I'm confident the local hardware store has something similar for replacement. That seal has kept the snow and rain from seeping in and molding the feed. Great bear deterrent. I highly recommend this.

Our senior dog recently got switched to a prescription dog food and the smallest sized bag it comes in is 8.5 lbs. Our cheap flip cap food storage container made for 4 lbs of food just wasn’t gonna cut it... I looked at all of the major pet stores and wal**** and the prices were absolutely ridiculous for a product made of cheap flimsy plastic... no way it would have kept the food fresh. So I took a gamble and decided to order the 30 lb Vittles Vault and was pleasantly surprised when my order arrived today. It seems to be very durable and made of high quality materials. The lid is easy to remove and put back on and it has a secure fit. Overall very happy with my purchase

This container works great to store dog food, but I have two suggestions when choosing yours: 1) this sits on the floor of our pantry about 3” below the lowest shelf. This is not super convenient because we tend to slide the container out and clear of the shelf to access. If I had it to do over I would consider the model where the lid is on an angle allowing easier access. 2) don’t buy a bigger container than you need. You want to empty the container each time before you put a new bag in to make sure there’s no old dog food on the bottom. So there’s absolutely no need to have a container that fits more than the bag size you buy.

I bought the 30-pound container six years ago for storing dog food. I wanted something food safe and air tight. I lived on a ranch at the time and not attracting critters was a primary goal. It has worked beautifully and nothing ever even tried to get into it. I was just washing it today and noticed that it looks brand new. I've been using it twice a day for six years and it looks and works like it did the day I first got it. The little scoop that came with it that I use twice a day looks brand new. It's gotten regular and not too gentle or careful use and pushing it back into its place with my foot. It's lightweight and super sturdy. The dog food I buy comes in a 23.2 pound bag and the container easily accommodates it with about four inches to spare. This container has made the whole dog food process so effortless and smooth. The size I have is a little bulky to try to wash in the kitchen sink (even though I still do) and it's molded so there are little nooks and crannies and water catches under the lip when you try to pour it out but it's well worth a little extra effort for how great it works and how clean it washes up. Cleaning it outside would probably be the easiest way to go. I washed it when I first got it before I filled it and I never noticed any smell and "food safe" was definitely a must for me. Well worth the price. I would totally buy this again but I probably won't ever have to!
