These strings replaced some rather old and grungy strings on my guitar. They were probably 8 or 9 years old and the guitar sounded terrible and it was a nightmare to play. So I ordered some Elixer strings (my go-to for electric) and all I can say is wow. This guitar actually sounds good now. I wish I could explain it better, but please just take my word for it. These are incredibly well designed and well made strings. The tone they create is second to none and the way they feel while playing is just incredible. I will not be buying anything except for Elixers for my acoustic now, too.

Although you'll spend nearly twice the money to get into a set of Elixer strings, it's money well spent. I know that as a college student I had always heard of Elixir strings but could never justify spending the extra money. However, after trying a set, I have been playing nothing but Elixers for the past 10 years. I'm not going to pretend to know the science behind any of this, but can tell you that these strings make any guitar sound much better. They typically give a bright, even, and deep tone that you simply don't get with the budget brands. Additionally, they last nearly twice as long before needing to be replaced. Lastly, I will say that the webbing on these strings makes them much easier on the fingers for beginning and experienced guitar players alike. Sliding up and down the strings wont cut you up nearly as bad as other brands. One point of clarification here: buy the NANOWEB instead of the POLYWEB. As the Poly coating wears off it can be uncomfortable to play and adds an ugliness to your guitar that any civilized being shouldn't want. Keep your baby looking good and she'll be good to you. However, if I remember correctly, the poly-coated strings did hold their sound and playability even longer than the Nanoweb coating, so if that's more of a priority for you don't feel bad about getting those. In summary, if you're looking for the best guitar strings on the market, you've found them. Figure out the correct weight of strings for your guitar and order some. I highly doubt you'll regret it.

Have a full Bodied Yamaha Acoustic that had Elixir polyweb light. That all but destroyed the performance! Went to these and i am absolutely amazed at the difference strings can make. I know they can, but, holy S**T !! What an upgrade. Forget "Poly". It's "Nano" from now on as well as 80/20 Bronze! It's as if i bought a new guitar and a far more $ one at that. Low -E to High- E , all strings resonate brighter, longer, truer . Albeit I now know that a full body needs a heavier string, the sacrifice is the increased force to fret the strings. Just have to toughen up,strengthen my left fingers. Feel, playability is smooth. I feel i made two changes at once but both in the Right direction.

I usually enjoy the sound of fresh out of the box guitar strings (installed on the guitar, of course). Well, I wasn't enjoying the sound or "the feel" the first two weeks. The sound was weak, and not crisp. The "feel" felt stiff because of the coating. So at the end of the 2nd week I noticed the sound was way better (I play my guitar at least 1 hour a day). Now the sound is crisp, and the feel is better. You have to wear the strings a bit, so they're to your liking; so practice a lot. You'll get the sound you're looking for. I have owned this style of strings before in medium gauge. They lasted me way over a year (almost 2 years), and the strings wouldn't leave me black marks or bronze smell on fingers or hands. Aside from that the sound was robust and not plasticky. That's the reason I bought this package of strings. They're worth the money.

When is a guitar string dead and time to replace it? Duh, that's easy. When it breaks.... Not quite true here but with these strings you might be more apt to have the sting break before they need to be replaced. I know, I know, I will get a lot of flack for that because some purists think that strings need to be super bright sounding and once that is gone then replace. I disagree. These string do start out bright in sound and that will fade. Then they got into to mellow tone with more pronounced bass and smoother treble but then something magical happens after that. They start to sing! The sustain builds and you get a seductive smooth sound after that. When that last tone shift hits, its music to everyone's ears. When should you really change them out? For me its when the strings don't stay in tune after a song or two. But I play about an hour a day each day and sometimes more on the weekends, and yeah some days off as well and I haven't noticed a need to replace them after 2-3 months now. The nanoweb technology is amazing, period. Buy Elixor and never look back. I play an acoustic Taylor 216 in case you are wondering.

I bought this to replace the strings on my Fender FA-100 that I bought from Sam’s club a couple of years ago. It was like a $100 guitar. I am a beginner and I did not start playing it until recently. The guitar was properly tuned but the sound is so bad that I wanted to smash the guitar in frustration and buy a new one. But before I pulled the trigger to buy a more expensive higher quality guitar I decided to replace the strings to see if the sound gets better. I am so glad that I did. The difference is like night and day. It simply made the sound so amazing it sounds like an expensive guitar. I bought this after seeing the good reviews. For less than $14 it was all worth it.

It's okay. I decided to try it out because my favorite Independent band, Boyce Avenue, uses the brand and their guitar sounds so nice live. Anyway, they're durable and lasts long. However, the strings are kind of hard to press compared to the usual strings that I use. Also, I don't like how it eliminates the squeeky noise when sliding chords and whatnot--makes me feel like I have a silent guitar. The tone is nice and balanced, but not quite bright in my ears. Still giving it a 5 though because they're very durable and clean looking compared to the ones I usually use, which after about 5 days of heavy duty usage it turns to a different color.

Best strings for acoustic. The lush sound reminds me of listening to Robert Goulet play piano. The first time I set up my Martin with these strings and gave it a quick strum, my wife turned her head around and said "what was THAT?". The difference between this and other strings I've used is night and day. And the bonus is, these strings last a LONG time, and that's great because I don't change mine nearly often enough. I signed up for the subscribe & save because I want to be reminded when to change them.

Modified my review, these strings are actually fantastic, and have great durability and tone. I love that they can take a real beating without starting to wear out and get dull. While they are more expensive than regular strings, they are worth it. The quality and durability are unbeatable and for someone who has very sweaty hands, the coating does a great job of keeping your strings clean and sounding great without becoming dull from the acidic sweat. Use only elixir on both my electrics and acoustics, took me years of using cheap $5-$8 string sets before I tried elixirs and instantly found out why people swear by them.

For years I heard how great these are, but never wanted to spend the extra money. Finally gave them a try, and I will never use anything else. I have a cheaper acoustic and it sounded dead and lifeless with regular strings. Put these Elixirs on and now it sounds like a much more expensive guitar. They're extremely comfortable and keep their sound twice as long as a regular string, so I feel that I'm saving money in the end. And either way, if you can spend a little more and make your guitar sound way better, why wouldn't you? They have seriously increased my enjoyment of playing. One caveat, if you completely de-tune your strings and tune them back up, it can mess with the nanoweb coating. I did this a few times and the coating started coming off the strings. So just be aware of that.
