These are my go to strings, where I live uncoated strings will rust or tarnish within a few days. I've heard these could effect the high end but as far as I can tell the effect is negligible. For me these will last around a month of regular use, you might notice fret spots around a couple weeks depending on how much you play. I've tried DR coated strings and the coating on these is much better, it doesn't flake off. I haven't yet tried Ernie ball or GHS coated yet but I'll compare the later and try to update this review.

Love these strings. Out of all the different types I've used, these are the best. They last a long time and sound great. I have had the same strings on my electric axe for 6 months now and the sound is still amazing. I play every day noodling with different styles of music from blues to heavy metal and these strings handle it all. Since I have discovered these I will not use anything else. I would definitely recommend them to anyone and everyone. They are worth the money.

Elixirs are known as the best. And they really are! They last at least 10 times as long as regular earnie ball strings. Me and my friends think they dip them in plastic of some sort so they dont develop oxides and corrode. These strings feel super smooth and are easy to bend. I usually get these from guitar stores but used amazon this time and got them next day! Probably because a new amazon shipping warehouse opemed near me. Will buy again 10/10

I know my title may seem extreme and either a mix of being cheap, lazy, crazy or all at once, but I have a legitimate reason for keeping them on for so long. So about three years ago I had to move away from home for work and didn't have the option to bring my electric guitar with me. Fast forward two and a half years and one deployment or so later and I finally had my baby shipped to me! And she came with strings already on her! What a treat! The strings on her seemed to be in great condition and sounded about as good as a broken in pair would, so I got curious and decided to hop on to Amazon to see what the last package of strings I ordered for my guitar were and lo-and-behold, they were Elixir Lights. Bravo, Elixir. From a guy who has chronic sweaty, acidic, string-killing hands, you've done wonders in the world of long-lasting strings. Sadly, I may end up putting these long-lasting puppies to rest to give a shot at some D'Addario NYXLs but I gotta say, longevity-wise, these are the best strings I've had on my guitar to-date.

These are the best electric guitar strings I've ever used. I was skeptical about the claim that a coating would make a difference, and wow was I wrong. I've had these on for a few months now, and with average play, they still sound the same as when I put them on. They do feel a little different than standard strings. Hard to describe, but maybe saying they are very lightly waxy feeling would be as close as I could get to describing it. I'll definitely buy these again.

These string are good, but I ended up with uncoated strings. I like their sound more, I'm not that lazy to change strings every month (or when it's necessary), but in my opinion, these strings sound worse from the start and should be replaced in a month as well. So they cost 3-4 times more than uncoated, last 3-4 times longer, but sound a bit worse. The obvious PRO is that fingers don't smell metal after playing. Bottom line: very good strings, and will keep use them from time to time, and always have spare set. But they pricey and sound is not that crisp.

...you'll find it hard to go back to "regular" nickel-wound varieties. At roughly $10-$13 for a set, depending upon where you buy them from, they are pricey but the longevity and ease of playing make them worth it. As a beginner guitar player who is still exploring accessories that best suit him, I played the 0.10-0.46 set (and I was fortunate to find a low price of $5.99/set on Amazon) and they felt like I was playing a 0.09-0.42 set from the likes of Ernie Ball, D'addario, etc. I had some initial issues with how slick the string surface was due to the coating and kept losing my grip on the strings, but once I got used to them, they played like a dream. Vibratos, bends, pull-offs, and slides felt much easier and very pronounced. I put on a set in December 2014, and with minimal maintenance (brushing a Dunlop System 65 string cleaner every week or 10 days of playing), they looked bright and shiny well into March/April of this year, while maintaining much of the original tone. When I swapped them with a D'addario Regular Light EXL110-3D set recently (for comparison sake), I could really tell the difference as my fingers simply couldn't glide over the D'addarios with ease as they did with these babies. I may not be a 100% convert yet since I am still exploring things as a beginner, but I think I do have a very strong contender for a mainstay for my musical pursuits.

Just a follow up to an Elixir purchase... As a rule, I put the date, and guitar on which I replaced the strings on the empty package at the time of replacement. I have 12 guitars so it's a good rule to keep an eye on which strings were replaced when, etc. I was amazed that these particular strings on this particular guitar lasted this long! Fourteen months from the last replacement! The reason this is so significant, is because of all the guitars I own, this particular guitar is my go to practice guitar. So it's used more often and for longer periods of time than any other guitar I own. And the funny thing is, I could have left the strings on even longer! (But I had the new set sitting on my desk for a few months and just felt this Sunday was a perfect time to replace them.) :) One thing to note, I do wipe the strings down every time I'm done playing and my hands are always clean before picking the guitar up. I know some folks have alien acid for sweat and never wipe their guitars down after they play. That's not the case here. Also, I do often use a treated guitar cloth from GHS specifically designed to make strings last. It's a brilliant product that can be found on Amazon and eBay. That cloth lasts a very long time too. I thank God for Elixir strings! Having to replace strings on all these guitars is not only a chore... but expensive! Elixirs are worth the price and worth a test run if you've never used them before. Thanks for reading.

I love elixir strings, and this is my favorite electric guitar set. I've been using them for 15 years and never desired to try anything different. While they're a tad more expensive than other strings, it balances it with needing to change them less often. They have a nice clear but also warm tone. I do not agree with reviews that say they are lifeless. In fact, I think they balance out what can otherwise be overly bright and tinny frequencies that you get from other strings, particularly at higher volumes. They are also very durable, I rarely have breakage issues.

I've been playing for a lot of years now. I was an active guitarist when Wes Montgomery, Antonio Carlos Jobim & Eric Clapton were young men. I believe I've tried every brand of string on the market and these are the best sounding/playing for my electrics. They have a bright sound yet maintain a mellow character. Great for Blues, Rock & Jazz...on the solid body & archtops. I recommend you try them, at least once.
