I had the first one of these for 18 years. Had an issue with some rust over the years but kept oiling the hinges and did some repainting from time to time. Finally it gave in to the corrosion and the lock was wearing out - so just got the same one and replaced it on the pole. It fit exactly. The design is the same as my original one except the lock seems a bit better. Here is a test it survived - a huge deer was hit by a car and thrown directly into my mailbox. I have it mounted on a steel post sunk into concrete. The deer slammed directly into the mailbox and it did not bunch an inch - and showed zero damage. I was pretty amazed. The deer obviously took the worst part of that encounter. This will not stop a very determined person with a few tools, but its enough to keep folks out and let them go on to easier prey. Had my mail stolen a few times before I got this, and afterward this solved my problem. In the many years I have had this, never had any problem with mail getting wet - everything inside has stayed nice and dry. If you want something that can withstand a crowbar and a heavy hammer, you have to pay a lot more than $96. I think that if someone has tools and the time and determination they are going to get in no matter what you have. I think for the money this is fine. The first one lasted me 18 years I think I got my moneys worth.

I order a lot of books, CDs and blu-rays from Amazon and a lot of old 8x10 photographs and antique magazines from online vendors and auction sites. Typically, the packages I receive are fairly small, but it's very important to me that they be secure between the time they delivered and the time I can bring them in. I first bought one of these mailboxes when I was living in the city of Fort Worth, Texas, in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood that was nonetheless frequently targeted by thieves. I had noticed that several packages that had been confirmed as delivered had apparently disappeared from my front porch. I bought the Oasis Jr. and mounted it on a standard wooden mail-post that I bought at a local home supply store, using standard wood screws. Over the next four years, I never had another package disappear after it had been delivered. The mailbox held up beautifully ... it never got scratched or dented, never rusted, and I never had to perform any maintenance on it beyond dusting the top off every now and again. This past winter I made a major move, and am now located on a rural delivery route off a dirt road in southwestern Missouri. Friends gave me an Amazon gift card as a going away present, and I immediately knew what I wanted ... another Oasis Jr. locking mailbox for my new home. The old mailbox was out by the road and had been mounted on a couple of 2 x 6 boards that were sunk deep into the ground. I sawed them off to accommodate the increased height of the Oasis Jr., then added a couple of boards on the side to provide a broader, sturdier base. This time I used longer wood screws and washers when I mounted the new box, and as my letter carrier commented, "that mailbox is a solid piece of work." So far, so good ... I've not yet missed a package, the mailbox looks beautiful, and I have peace of mind. Based on the two units I have owned, I can't imagine ever wanting a different brand or model of mailbox. For my purposes, the Oasis Jr. is the perfect choice. I heartily recommend it, without any reservations whatsoever.

I was hoping this would be functional without always locking it, but that is not the case. Door doesn't stay closed unless it is locked. Still in all, it is a solid mailbox (as long as the lock mechanism doesn't wear out). And as long as both keys don't fail before I can find a locksmith that can make copies. It is a very large size, so make sure your post can handle it, and definitely get the mounting bracket (sold separately).

Mail goes in but it can't come out without a key. Great for keeping mail secure. I ordered this with the In Ground post which attached directly to it. No additional mounting bar needed. Easy to assemble. Works exactly as advertised. I feel much more secure about my mail which is left in the box at the street. 2 UPDATES: 5 months later it's almost impossible to get the key to to in the lock, creating serious problems for unlocking the box to get mail. As a result I've downgraded my rating from 5 stars to 3. GOOD NEWS: The company responded immediately by sending me a new lock. It was easy to install and the box is good as new again. Review now returns to 5 stars.

After a series of mail thefts leading g to fraud and a huge headache- we decided to get this mail box and it's been terrific. It is quite heave just a heads up. When. I picked up the box I was shocked at the weight of it, but concidering how big it is it's not bad. It works similarly to one of those blue post officedrop boxes. The top part pulls down which opens the slot for the mail. The slot has a back to it that, when opened, touches the top of the mailbox so no one can reach into the box. Once you close it the mail then slides down into the box. There is a clip for out going mail though. This was my main concern, was outgoing letters. But when you open the slot for incoming mail there's a clip to hold letters so the postal worker can get them. The lock is pretty standard it's nothing high tech but definitely enough that it's been keeping our mail safe and feels more secure than the locks you'd find on group led together mail boxes. The only downsides are that 1 it doesn't come with numbers. Which would seem pretty standard and 2 that there are specific hight requiremen's by the USPS. So be sure that the box will fit within those specifications. Neither are issues with the box really just things to be aware of. Overall we are so happy with this mail box, after dealing with fraud on our account we wanted to feel our mail and information was safe and we definitely do now.

Actually the 2nd box that I have installed since moving (one @ old and new locations). Well built, good metal and a good lock for securing mail after delivery. Arrived well packed, only had to mount the flag onto the box, then mount the unit on the pole. Plenty of holes in the bottom to run mounting bolts through for most applications.

Outstanding! just what I needed to protect from recent mail thefts in my neighborhood. Super solid high-grade materials, very well built, and will accept bigger sized packages than most others. Mine was mounted on an existing wood post and I needed to provide appropriate screws as this product does not come with any mounting hardware.....every installation will be different, so I didn't expect that any would be provided. Reviewers who rate this product low because theirs ended up being broken into are being unfair.....if a thief wants in, they'll get into whatever they want....your house, your car, your mail box.....but this box will slow them down and maybe discourage them in the first place. I highly recommend this product!

We bought this box due to mail theft in our neighborhood. A month of using this box and we love it. It fits our amazon purchases and has room for days of mail. I think you would need to be super motivated to steal from this mailbox; this will keep the casual thief from taking your mail. Also when you look at the prices of other boxes this can't be beat.

Exactly what we were looking for! Very well made, easy to install. Just don't forget to order mailbox numbers, so you can put your house number on it. I forgot and had to wait impatiently for them to get here too. Now I do not have to constantly worry about our mail being stolen anymore bc it HAD been being stolen - and often. TAKE THAT MAIL THIEVES!! HA! HA! HA! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND a locking mailbox EVEN IF you have NOT experienced your mail & packages being stolen - yet! And we live in what is considered a nice family -oriented neighborhood, but our mailboxes are located on the main road, so there was that. Just get a locking mailbox for peace mind, that alone is worth every penny! And this one is the best locking mailbox in every aspect for the price - I looked! Oh and the 3 other mailboxes on our shared post had switched to locking mailboxes before we did, also due to mail theft, and one of our neighbors had this same box and has experienced no further mail theft. So again, for the price - WORTH IT! If we experience ANY issues, I promise to update, but so far, soooo goood! 👌

Love this mailbox. It has a nice locking mechanism with a firm door and quality hinges. I want away for over a week vacation and didn't have to worry about canceling my mail, 40 pieces of mail when I came back and plenty of room to spare.
