Doesn't seem to go very far into the trucks outlet.
My '98 F150 has the factory 7 pin outlet. I wired a 7 pin male plug for my 4 pin trailer lights. All was well for a couple of years. Recently, I plugged in the trailer and NO LIGHTS! I didn't know if it was my truck's wiring or if it was the trailer. I decided to order new PREWIRED lights from Amazon which had magnetic bases for the lights so that I could easily remove when not towing. This got the light OFF the sides of the trailer where they could be easily bumped and broken. The wires on these lights are substantial and should never be a problem and it lets me attach to any other trailer quickly, if needed. The 7 pin to 4 pin adapter showed me very quickly that the truck's wiring was perfect. It had, indeed, been faulty trailer wiring. I tested the new trailer lights before installation on the trailer. All is well in towingland! This adapter certainly beats having to wire a 4 pin unit to a 7 pin plug, plus you get the truck tester, too.

Combines tester with 7 to 4 trailer plugs
I had another adapter and I was having problems with one of the fuses for the trailer lights blowing and suspected the wiring on my new trailer. It turned out that one of the diodes had shorted on the 7 to 4 adapter and this was causing the fuse in the truck to blow. I now carry both spare fuses for the truck's trailer wiring and an extra 7 to 4 pin adapter. What is great about this particular adapter is that it provides LED lights to indicate that the truck wiring is performing properly and simplifies the diagnostics. Great deal at the price.

I had been working on my 4 pin trail lights for a little bit and figured it was a wiring issue, so I bought this to see if the 7 pin was working and it worked like a champ and solved a potentially expensive problem with only ~$11. The 4 pin connection fit very snugly so I don't have to worry about water getting in, and the 7 pin fit well. Great relief having working trailer lights! Update: I've been using this for a year (more or less) and it has worked flawlessly every single time. Good, snug fit.

It works - and fits
Just ordered my second unit. Bought one to keep in the truck. Used it today to tow. Fit perfectly. No wiggle. Connection fine. Not sure about the little lights on the unit. A couple went on, but I didn't really check them out. . Checked the brakes, turns signals, running lights - all fine. Gave the first one away to the guy who helped me tow. Just ordered the second. Recommend.

Helps with trailers and determining blame
I kept having issues with a cheap adapter i got from HF. Went to rent a trailer and some of the lights weren't working. Cleaned up the connectors with some WD40 but still nothing. Tried another trailer and same thing happened. Shop told me it was my 4runner and not 2 trailers. A week later i got this, plugged it in and every light worked. I used some magnetic tow lights, hooked them up to it and confirmed again that every light worked. I go back to get another trailer, same problem at first. I show the guy how everything lights up when it's just my car, but when hooked to the trailer the left won't turn on. Finally pulls another trailer around and the thing lit up perfectly. Great, hefty adapter in the first place and the lights are a tremendous assest.

The Last 7 Blade to 4 Flat Adapter You Will Ever Need! "This Is The One..."
This is my second purchase of this Hopkins 47345 Adapter. I liked the first one so much I returned to purchase a second one for a gift to a fellow RV'er. This adapter is very well made and thought out. Fits snugly, very rugged and functions as designed. I highly recommend this manufacturer and their great adapter at even a greater Price Point here with Amazon. Truly a Win/Win for me... R/ Kent M. Whitney

No more shouting
This was so great! I knew right away that the lights were out on my 20’ camper trailer. After some fixing on my ford ranger. I was able to rig it to work half the time. I didn’t need to shout back to my wife to ask if they were working. Also most dealerships don’t mount electric brakes in a Ford Ranger. You can amazon that though.

Much more helpful than just an adapter...
I installed this on my 1970 C10 so that I could adapt to other trailers. It worked out to be very helpful as the 45year old wiring on my truck decided to break and when I was repairing it all, I was able to use this to assist in finding what wire was what without having to get up and the back down from under the truck! LOVE the LEDS! (there are even little letters by each one to say what it indicates!)

Love the test lights!
This is the best thing since sliced bread! I had never seen one of these adapters with the test lights. It seemed as if I was always fooling around trying to figure out where the problem was. Was it in my trailer, or in my truck or in my adapter? Guess what? Now I can know quickly and not have to burn a bunch of time. At my age, that is a very big deal!

Great product at a good price.
I am a U-Haul dealer and pick up and move trailers around the lot. My old truck did not have the 4 prong flat plug. This item works as described. In fact I now keep them in my office for sale to anyone that needs one. I like the fact I can check customers lighting with the LED's. Many customers say it must be the trailer, I just used it and it worked then. I tell them Nope the problem is with your vehicle. I will not allow a trailer to leave my lot without lights. It my neck on the line. So don't even ask.
