Best knife sharpener so easy and fast, small and simple to throw it in a drawer till you need it. If your not the type of person who can use a sharpening stone them this is for you . Also good for both regular and ceramic knives . Smith’s 2-Step Knife Sharpener features two tungsten carbide blades with pre-set angles to ensure the perfect edge every time. Three or four strokes through the carbide sharpening slots will restore the edge on a very dull knife. The two crossed ceramic rods also have pre-set angles and provide a smooth finished edge to already sharp knives. It is lightweight, portable, comes with a lanyard hole, and has non-slip rubber feet for added safety. Excellent for use on all types of knives, especially filet knives yes it will restore a dull blade to a very sharp one I have been using this product for about 12 years now .

Don't be fooled by its very inexpensive price-point. It's a quality tool that does its intended job well. I've used mine for everything from simply maintaining optimal blade sharpness on EDC knives to bringing old, nicked and tarnished blades back from the dead - turning them into crispy-sharp and useful tools again. I loved and was so impressed w/ mine that I promptly returned to Amazon to snap up 3 more, "just in case" I (God forbid) lose one...or one grows legs and walks away...or a friend/neighbor borrows one and enjoys it so much they want their own, etc. Bottom line: Effective, easy to use, dirt cheap!

Does what I need and was a great price, Until I get better knives, I'm using some that are very cheap along side some sort of decent ones I picked up at Walmart. This gadget was easy to use right out of the box and it's made to sit steady on the counter when in use. Notice the little grips strips along the bottoms. Glad I got this. Nice to know I'll be able to use (maybe) when I get a better set of knives.

I could sit all day with a wet stone and not get an edge half as good as this thing gives me in literally just seconds of use. Don’t believe any negative reviews you might see because this product is pure gold. I paid full price and received no compensation for this review. I’m not affiliated with the manufacturer or the seller in any way. I just like a sharp knife and I’m just too darn old and lazy to do it the old fashioned way.

This small sharpener has worked well for me so far, I had found a knife that I had since I was a kid that I wanted to bring back to life. I was reading about sharpeners and saw that many people were using these over the old whetstone and oil so I decided to give them a try. While I did need to use the "coarse" part of the sharpener for many more passes than the instructions recommended, once I did that I only needed to use the "fine" part of the sharpener as much as they recommended.

Love This Litter Sharpener! My husband and I were skeptical that anything so inexpensive could work well but this little sharpener surprised both of us. I wanted something that I could use to sharpen a knife when he wasn't around. And this sharpener is right up my alley. I followed the directions and now all my knives are sharp. By my own hand. I am going to buy another one right away lest this one disappear. My husband, who was a cook for 30 years loves it too. Just follow the directions and it's great. Best bargain I've had in a very long time.

The newer model is not quite the same as the one pictured in the item listing! It has a wider and angled mouth. If you check some of the purchaser photos from other reviewers, you can see what the new model looks like. The wider mouth is a great change, because it allows you to use the sharpener with garden tools, axes and hatchets that wouldn't fit through the old knife slot. The Ceramic side (1500 grit) is absolutely amazing for putting a razor edge on just about anything. I know many knife enthusiasts dislike pull through sharpeners. I think that's just because carbide sharpeners are too aggressive and remove too much metal without providing a sharp edge. With this tool, if you are gentle and judicious with your use of the carbide side, you can get a ridiculously sharp edge with very little technique. You'll want to use just one or two swipes through the carbide to reset the edge on your knife to 46 degrees, then about 20 swipes through the Ceramic. Also, put a couple drops of water on the Ceramic, because the best sharpening is actually provided by a water slurry on the surface of the Ceramic, not a dry stone. The only technique you need is to keep the blade as vertical as possible as you smoothly pull the blade across the stone. Don't roll the edge out of vertical, because you'll just be dulling the edge and taking off that 46 degree point.

I got this to use resharpen my replacement utility razor blades, so I don't have to just throw them away when they get dull. After about 5-10 passes on the coarse and fine slots, it brings back the edges on the razor blades. I don't use this for my regular pocket knives with harder steel, but this will work if you have softer steel. The slots are generously wide and makes the passes easy. Each side has rubber padding so it won't move on you while using it. Worth every penny.

Having a sharp knife matters to me as we all are aware of how much more dangerous a dull knife can be. I was on an extended travel and needed a sharpener and decided to try this device. I am very pleased. It sharpens my devices nicely (v-edge and chisel-edge although I have to be cautious to only sharpen a single side with my chisel-edge blades. It is larger enough to get the job done (I was able to put a nice edge on a few knives with it) and packs very nicely in my toilet kit. I will be traveling with this device regularly in the future. No, it does work as well as my Lansky system on my Chef's Choice professional sharpener but it does work as an adequate and functional sharpening that doesn't take up much space for storage.

I am all in favor of keeping my expensive knives safe. That means keepin them sharp. This small knife sharpener ha two sides to accomplish that. A dull knife forces one to use undo pressure which can cause slips which causes accidents. Sharp knives allow the blade to do the work not brute force. You have more control with a sharp knife therefore fewer accidents.
