We were looking for the best cast iron to replace all the crap we purchased ...
We were looking for the best cast iron to replace all the crap we purchased over the years that wear out, dent and no longer have the non-stick surface intact. These Lodge pans came preseasoned and within 4 to 5 uses and continuing to season are now a dream to use.. Better nonstick than any Teflon junk. Made in USA and a great price considering it will last forever.

THE SUPER SKILLET FOR SOUTHERN CORNBREAD
MY FAVORITE GO-TO SKILLET FOR BAKING GOOD OL' FASHIONED SOUTHERN SKILLET CORNBREAD. I NEVER USE THIS SKILLET FOR ANYTHING ELSE AND THEREFORE, IT IS ALWAYS PREPARED AND READY TO TURN OUT A GOOD, CRISPY CORNBREAD EVERY TIME. EASILY JUST FLOPS RIGHT OUT OF THE SKILLET ONTO A PLATE. HAVE OTHERS THAT I PREFER FOR STEAKS AND SEARING MEATS THAT ARE GREAT TOO. HAVE BEEN COOKING WITH IRON SKILLETS SINCE A TEENAGER (NOW 73}.

Excellent everyday use anything skillet
It's not Staub, but decent iron pan for the money, it comes pre seasoned and ready to use. It's lodge so the surface in the bottom will be kinda rough in texture, but the pan holds seasoning so well the rough surface is super easy to clean, basically rinse out, wipe down with oil and put back on a burner to cook out the moisture and it's ready for next time. Makes a good every day skillet, we cook 2 or 3 meals a day in it...

love all lodge pans
I have the regular (non-deep) skillets in one size larger and one size smaller. This one is just as great as every other lodge skillet. The higher sides are better for sauteing a lot of veggies at one bc nothing spills over; also for cooking vegetables/meat then adding a sauce. Lodge cast iron products have never failed me. To clean, I just wipe a (no soap) sponge over it, dry, put some olive oil, wipe excess, then air dry some more.

This is one of my favorite size pan to use!
This is one cf my favorite cast iron pans that I use. Make sure to season before after and during use to prevent sticking of foods. Also cooking on low to medium temp works the best. This pan is also oven safe which works wonders for your home cooking meals. If you are thinking of getting this Lodge L8DSK3 deep skillet and also a separate cast iron lid, it would be cheaper to buy the Lodge 3 quart fryer with lid as it is the exact same as L8DSK3 but comes with a lid combo. I think the price today on Amazon Prime was $33.78 with the dome lid and $26.99 with the flat pan lid. Its like getting the lid included for a reduced price with buying together as a set. I bought separately not knowing it was the exact same deep skillet but they call it a fryer pan when bought together with the lid. Hope this review helps and this one is a real keeper!

Unbeatable value. Timeless, a little care makes these a lifetime investment. A must have for Induction cooktops
Great Skillet. Value is excellent as cast-iron can last generations with basic cleanup and care at far cheaper cost versus reputable stainless steel ware. I mainly use just water and either baking soda or coarse sea salt granules to clean up. occasional scour pad or steel wool. Rarely soap them. These come Pre-seasoned though you may find it isn't as non-stick as you'd like. I seasoned it myself and got better results. This is best down outdoors in a grill if you don't have an outdoor vented range hood. It can make some smoke. These are Old school and new school too. Your Grandma used cast iron and as more energy efficient techs like induction cook tops become more prevalent in homes now your grand kids will probably be using cast iron too. If you care for your Lodge set it may be the one your grand kids are cooking with!

Superb skillet
I love this skillet!! It is the best skillet I have ever used for frying anything, but it is also an excellent pan for casseroles or cornbread. It is so versatile, used on the stovetop or in the oven, it cooks evenly and quickly. Growing up, my mom always used cast iron for much of her cooking needs, and her meals were the best! So, hoping for the same success, I bought this skillet to use for my own cooking. I have not been disappointed. The high sides make it easy to use as a deep fryer or to fill with casserole fixings. And the handles on both sides make it easy to lift from the oven or stove. I only wish I had bought the silicon handle cover, but hot pads work well too. Having heard of the Lodge brand, I chose this skillet over any other brands because of their reputation for quality products. I love it and plan to buy other sizes as well.

Heavy duty!
This thing is HEAVY DUTY... Heavy. Very well constructed. I can see this becoming my favorite pan in short order :-) Deep, heat distribution is even and goes right up the sides. The handles get super hot, even with the silicone cover for the main handle - oh well, it's on a stove, so we use some pot holders or the fire-resistant gloves you can find here on Amazon. Cleaning is pretty easy - when you're done cooking, place it gingerly into the sink (I'd say 'toss it' but that'd likely dent the stainless steel sink!), add hot water, and sponge it out. No soap! If you have one of those stainless steel ring scrubbers that'd be better (gotta get one of those on Amazon too...). The only annoyance is that I'm used to making some things in a teflon-coated frying pan where I can flip them, and that's not happening in this thing... Maybe I'll get a cast iron frying pan next (probably on Amazon).... A friend of mine has the Lodge-brand griddles - those things are huge, heavy duty, and great for making all kinds of stuff.... So I was pretty happy to discover this pan to be of the same quality.

Into the oven to bake our dinners
Frying pan? Not for us, we put this pan (L8DSK3), with the lid (L8IC3) into the oven to bake our dinners. Consider this combination to be a small dutch oven and you can quadruple it's uses.

Lodge makes great products!
So I received this Lodge skillet yesterday. I am not new to cast iron skillets, been using them since I started cooking with my parents 30 years ago. These skillets made by Lodge will last a person the rest of there life with proper care. I don't ever wash my skillets with soap, just deglaze with a little bit of water while still hot, gently scrape bottom with wooden spoon the break up the stuck on bits then toss that out unless using to make gravy. Then I lightly scrape with chainmail type cleaning pad, then wipe out and re-oil, Usually I use coconut oil. These cast iron pans are so versatile too, it can be used on virtually any heat source, they can go on a grill, in the oven, over a fire, doesn't really matter, they work. They are also one of the healthiest types of cookware ever made. I highly recommend Lodge products. I did not recieve this product for free or at a reduced price in exchange for review, I simply wanted to make people aware that these are good products. Thanks for reading my review
