Great quality for such a reasonable price
Great quality for such a reasonable price!! Paper is thick enough that standard liquid roller and ball point pens do not bleed through to the other side at all. Perforations tear very cleanly, but do not too easily unlike many legal pads I've used; they will not tear when put in a bag without a folder protecting them, or when folded over the top. Perhaps this seems like a lot of critique for a legal pad, but if quality of work/school/personal supplies is something that affects your happiness in daily life, you will appreciate these!!

An invention to change the world...
No more papyrus for me, I'm a paper man from here on. These pads of paper are excellent for writing things on. Simply grab a pen or pencil and you are in business. I haven't tried it for drawing yet, but my guess is the product is suitable for any type of marking you would want to try. In fact, I have an employee who writes in Russian and she was able to print her native alphabet on this paper as well, it didn't discriminate based on language. The 21st century is amazing. So next time you want to write something and don't want to mark up the nearest wall, I suggest a pad of paper.

The Best Legal Size Pad Currently Available
The best legal size pad currently available but are rather high priced. I have always preferred handwriting for getting ideas down initially. A good dark pencil and a yellow legal size pad have worked for me well for decades. I use computers a lot and most thing wind up there, but for me, and I suspect others, typing into a software program is just not as (pick a word); organic, intuitive, creative, natural, satisfying? So with the overall reduction of handwriting and the near obsolescence of the legal size format, it has become harder to find a quality legal size pad; going, going, but not yet gone. So I for one am willing to pay what is by any objective measure a high price in order to get what I actually want. I cannot deduct a star on price as I don't really see that there is any genuine competition. So if you can afford them and like their utility, aesthetics, and maybe a touch of nostalgia, buy them. I did and will do so again if they are still there to buy.

There is not much to say. It is paper ...
There is not much to say. It is paper and it works really well for writing on as long as you are going to be writing with it on a desk or other hard surface. The back is just thin cardboard so if you are looking for something to write on standing up without a clipboard then look elsewhere. I use these for work as I have to write a lot of stuff down from my desk and it works perfectly.

Excellent for Business Professionals
I am impressed by these pads. In reading the comments, I think your level of satisfaction depends on your intended use and a little common sense. These are everyday pads, not the Gold pads, so they are made from 16 lb paper, have a thin backing, and no cover. So, to expect them to withstand rain, markers, and wear and tear is silly and obviously not what they were designed for. These pads are best used as a refill in a padfolio (longer term) or a clipboard (short term) in situations where you need to capture or share handwritten information - in a compact and convenient way - such as in a briefcase or carried with you to a meeting. The 16 lb paper and thin backing keeps the pad thin enough to fit inside a case with a laptop, books, or other carry alongs where if too thick you have to jettison paper altogether. The pad is used for a short period of time and often one sided - as unlike a spiral bound notebook, pages as flipped back behind the padfolio or clipboard. There is no need for a cover to protect the oages from curling or getting wet because the padfoilio takes care if that. It enables the user to invest in a thin protective leather case and buy cheap refills. The other thing that I like about these pads is that the paper is really smooth. With these and the Sanford Jetstream pens, I feel like I am treating myself. And, as I normally type, handwriting is rare, so I like the fact that there is less hand fatigue and drag to slow me down and make my handwriting sloppy. So, these pads are great for rigorous use if in a protective cover. If you are looking for the pad to provide the protection, pay more for 20 lb paper, a thick stiff backing, and/or a cover. Those run $2 each not $1 each. If you are looking for a staple bound but perforated pad for your padfolio that is thin enough to take with you and smooth enough to enjoy writing on, these are a great deal.

These have a great cardboard back
These have a great cardboard back, making these an excellent choice for writing when there is no readily available writing surface. Easy tear pages for when you realize that you have just written down a citation that has absolutely nothing to do with your case and you feel the urge to forcibly rip away the page and scrunch it into a wadded ball of paper and throw it toward a trash can on the other side of the room.

I ordered the 'ultimate' and the product recieved is beyond what my expectations were.
I ordered the "ultimate" and they definitely live up to the name. The backing board is super heavy - so the notepad feels substantial instead of just flopping around like I've gotten from some other brands. The paper itself is also a good heavy thick paper. Very nice, and definitely worth the extra couple bucks for the "ultimate" style. I will most definitely be ordering exactly the same thing when I need another stack of notepads.

Love these
I go through a ton of legal pads - they're what I use to keep my life organized. I used to use Staples brand, but they're floppy and don't tear off nicely. I love these - the cardboard backing is rigid so it's easy to write on when you just have your lap. And the sheets tear off cleanly. Maybe I'm ocd, but I HATE floppy legal pads that have bits of paper shred hanging off the top binding! Lol. I'm on my 2nd order of these, and plan on coming back for more when mine run out.

This is such an amazing and fantastic product
This is such an amazing and fantastic product. On the first day, it brought the mail to my door and proceeded to vacuum the floor. In the shower, it gave me a foot massage. When it came time to clean it in the washer, it did all the other laundry, folded it, and then cooked me dinner too! :) Seriously, after using this a couple times I can definitely see purchasing this product again.

PERFECT PERFORATION
One might wonder how you could even judge a pad of paper, but comparisons to competitor products make it easy. The paper itself seems to be basically the same as others. However, we have all suffered with a less than perfectly perforated pad, which tore the top of the paper instead of separating from the pad with a perfect edge. I personally am not a big fan of the canary yellow color, as I prefer white; but at least the color is paler than others' yellow colored paper. The value for the quality and quantity is worth a repurchase.
