Buy it.
This thing is easy to install and it looks fantastic. It's very functional and all of our guests love it. They can't believe I installed it. I included a photo to show you how large it is compared to my 10 month old son. There is no way an infant can get stuck in it or crawl through it.

Super easy to install- I have a 16lb Ragdoll & he gets through no problem...I MAY have gone a little overboard...but I thought it was neat how you can paint it!

Perfect Kitty Door AND Back Scratcher - All 4 of my Kits LOVE it! Very easy to install.
This cat hole absolutely rocks! It's plenty big for my cats although my biggest is only 11 pounds. That said it seems like a much larger cat would also fit. Even my frail 19-year-old who is very tall began using it the day it was installed. I installed it in a crappy hollow door just using a Dremel! If I'd had a proper saw it wouldn't have taken more than a few minutes to complete. The instructions are clear & it fits/looks exactly as described. I painted mine white - I ended up with 2 coats but 1 would really have been enough. You could say that this really serves 2 purposes: obviously in gives my crazy felines access to the litter box room but it also has become a favorite back scratcher due to the plastic brush along the inside. This is a clever design and so much better than more traditional doors. Wish I'd thought of it!

"Off Label" use (through walls not door)
I could not use the CAT DOOR in a door because to place the litter pans where I wanted them (storage closet under the stairs), I would have had to remove the door to my kitchen (closet door & kitchen door bump into each other). So, after reading every single question & review, I completely ignored the warnings and installed them in the wall (I was inspired by a couple photos). Didn't use the screws (Home Depot sold me some glue) and the brushes don't fit b/c of non-standard widths but I now have 3 size huge litter pans in the enclosed area under my stairs & no more kitty litter all over my laundry room. I painted the arches before installation and used some leftover (free) molding from HD to make a landing for the hole through the thicker wall (admittedly, it needs some "pretty-ing up"). All four cats adapted immediately (btw, I have 2 holes because one cat is a schmuck). The cutting template and the wood arches were well worth the price. I also added OxyLED Motion Sensitive lights (rechargeable version) to the under-stairs area so both the cats & I could see the litter (me to clean). 7/12/16 - I added interior photos that include rechargeable lights & litter pans 3/1/17 - I see a lot of questions re: installation through drywall. What I did: found studs. Taped pattern on wall btwn studs. Used super long skinny screwdriver and hammered holes along pattern (went thru both sides). Presented mess to husband and asked him to use his saw to cut along holes on both sides (if he had refused to help, I would have used a flat head & hammer to complete the break). Glued pre-painted "U"s on walls (both sides) and also glued free trim (there's usually a cart w/ that) from Home Depot below higher hole and as base in single thickness hole. Used flooring samples from HD as base for deeper hole (strongly recommended sanding and painting first ;-) . I've also glued flooring samples (in the wall - can't see) above the thick hole. Basically, I McGyvered it. If I had planned better it would have been prettier (still need to add more paint under the stairs) but the cats are happy & I am VERY happy not to have kitty litter all over the laundry room. 8/2/18 I now have 5 OxyLED lights in the area for max brightness. Always have an extra just in case b/c the female charging end is not robust & will push in & ergo become useless. I charge 1x a week (4 cats - much pooping). I use an Anker charging station (Anker is *the* quality brand for computer cables/chargers IMO). My essential cat products: 1) CatHole 2) Large ***white*** Pet Fusion cat scratcher. The big one. Absolutely essential. I have one upstairs and one down. Worth every cent. 3) Gigantic litter pans as pictured (I have 3 & bought 2 here) 4) Arm & Hammer multi-cat litter 5) Arm & Hammer litter deodorizer 2/3/19 - I need to give credit to the person whose photos inspired me. Simple product changed our lives!
I love my cat but I hate his liter box! This seemed like a perfect solution and it is! My husband installed the little cat hole on our linen closet door with ease. It comes in natural wood so you can paint or stain to match your existing door. Hubby did a det run with it then removed it so I could paint both pieces. Once it was dry we were set. The best part is no longer dealing with our dogs eating kitty tootsie rolls since they can't get to the box. Don't be fooled by our cat's face- he loves it too!

Excellent choice for interior use!
This is the third of these cat doors I’ve had. I love them! I was able to use one on an-under-the-stair door so that I could put two litter boxes in that closet. When we moved to a new house, I ordered two cat doors and had each installed in a different bottom cabinet door in the laundry room. I put one litter box in each cabinet. Again, this allowed me to accommodate two litter boxes in an out-of-the-way location. These cat doors have a raw wood surround which can be painted to match the area where they are being used. They are inconspicuous and easily accessed by my cats. My largest cat weighs about 11 pounds. These cat boxes are an excellent choice for an interior location, but would not work for an inside-to-outside location, as there is no barrier to prevent something else besides your cat going in and out!

Favorite cat purchase!!
Love it!!! I recently brought in a cat to a two dog home and wasn't comfortable leaving the door open for the cat to get to her food/water and litter box when I wasn't home. This cat door is awesome!! She loves that she can escape their grasp quickly and I don't have to worry about the dogs getting in her litter while I'm at work. Plus it's super cute!! Would recommend to anyone with a similar dilemma! And super easy to install!!

a good thing. Appears to be a clear unfinished birch ...
The Cat Door is bigger than I thought it would be, a good thing. Appears to be a clear unfinished birch wood. Using the wood trim, I traced a hole on the side of the box it came in to get a better feel for the size of the opening and immediately one of the cats was in the box. I guess the size is OK. It is going into a new build so I have not seen it installed as of this time. Cats have given it five paws. Ummm, where did that fifth paw come from. Quality materials and packaging. CONS: There are no instructions for installing a door bell. Our cats are accustomed to ringing a door bell to go out and come in. This really does create a cat-astrophic dilemma. They will be feline so blue over this. Sounds like the theme for a country/western song. We finally have a CO (certificate of occupancy) however the inspector required us to label the Feline bathroom. Have added a photo of the final install and will update as soon as the girls move in and approve their special bathroom. I know, you have a question and I will answer it before you can ask: Yes, the sign is Photoshopped (but the cats do not know, shhhhhhh).

First time using a jigsaw and I still have all ...
First time using a jigsaw and I still have all my fingers! Just bought a cheap jigsaw for less than renting one. Took about an hour from start to finish, including 2 layers of paint. I used a hair dryer to dry each paint layer quickly. My doors are hollow, and I had no issues. No need to buy additional parts of anything. Cats took right to it! They are about 9lbs each. A++

PERFECT!
I love it! The only effort you really need to invest is painting the item (I recommended sanding it prior to painting and once between coats) and removing the door. It's a good idea to mark the bottom of the door prior to removal so you do not accidentally cut the wrong end. I painted mine white and installed it in less than 30 minutes (including the time it took to unhinge and put back the door). The assembly is very easy. My door is hollow and I had no issues whatsoever. My two cats are both one year old and took to it within ten minutes. The photo that I uploaded is of my cat investigating it just after it was installed. After a few hours, they were coming and going with complete comfort. Now they use it to play "hide and pounce" with one another. I also recommend cutting the door out of earshot and sight of your cats so they do not associate it with something frightening. Everyone who sees it says it looks very professional. I would purchase this again without hesitation.
