This product does exactly what it says it does! efficiently too! this product is 3 bottles pH-up, pH-down and a pH test solution. (also comes with a vial to conduct the pH testing in AND a pipette which I thought was great, I ended up getting on before I opened the package assuming they did not provide one, but General Hydroponics really gives you everything you need to open the package and do testing RIGHT AWAY!) I tested this on my hydroponic system with a calibrated pH meter hehe.....I wanted to know how accurate the test solution is. The test solution runs on a color scale, acidic being pink basic being dark green. The scale is located ON THE BOTTLE! so you never will lose it. As far as my basic testing concluded, the test solution is accurate; the color changes are visibly recognizable and comparable to the provided scale. 6.0 is yellow, 7.0 is green, and both of these matched my pH meter (in approximation, don't expect to perfectly get a 6.3 or something, this test kit is intended for keeping pH in a safe range, you could play with it and get exactly what pH you want with the assistance of a pH meter but I am judging this based on if a user DID NOT have access to a pH meter going on the test solution only.) The acid solution is very effective, which is nice, you don't want to use a lot of product to achieve results and end up being in need of more solution spending more $$$. I suggest using this 1-3 drop at a time, waiting 20 mins or so based on water flow and size of your container, and doing another test. Don't over do it, always undershoot what you are aiming for; you will save product and also prevent too acid/basic solution......just be patient, eventually you will understand the power of the acid/base solutions and wont even have to second guess if you put too much in or not. All in all, this is a must for a hobby hydroponic gardener or even a professional. Having a pH meter is nice, but some times the calibration may be off and having another testing method as provided in this kit is a good safety. I enjoy testing my solutions BOTH with the meter and the test solution because I know with out a doubt if my solution is within the correct pH range. This will last probably a year or even more depending on how big your system is. Just use sparingly and maybe play with the testing solution with known known acid/base solutions so you can take not of what the ACTUAL color of the liquid will look like in correspondence with the pH. Maybe put some vinegar in the vial, drop some test solution and take note. you will see a bright pink color. add some of the base solution and you will see the color change in the vial....do this before you mess with your actual nutrient solution just to get a feel for the colors! 5 stars for: price, reliability, longevity of the product use and ease of use. General Hydro is kind of the "big boss" hydro company and they really know what they are doing. Every product thus far I have purchased is good.

Only PH up I'll buy. General Hydroponics is a reliable source for all my growing needs. I've tried many different types of other brands, but nothing is as reliable as GH products. I'm just regular guy who has been growing stuff for years and need nutrients and ph stuff occasionally and there is no need for anything else. Try Flora Nova Bloom for your hydro plants and it automatically adjusts your PH and has plenty of nitrogen to last the whole grow, not need to buy the grow nutrients too!

Wow they directions said add only a little at a time and they meant it. I had to keep adding less of each one until I was down to just drops of each one. I ended up finding that for my water I have to add only four drops of ph down to each gallon of water. When the reservoirs are doing their thing I add about 4 drops of ph every couple of days to counter the action of the plants. So glad I ordered these before I got started.

This is a nice collection of all the basics you need for managing pH, which is an easy way to encourage better plant growth. Comes with instructions and a guide on how pH affects nutrient absorption in your plants - useful info. This seems like it could also be a useful kit for simple science projects and experiments. You can probably find other acids and bases around your kitchen (vinegar, baking soda) but the tester, testing vial, and eyedropper are definitely worth getting. It only takes a few drops of tester for each sample you test, so that should last you a while. The other bottles will most likely last you even longer. If you've never used pH adjusters like this before, be aware that it really doesn't take much! They give you an eyedropper for a reason - unless you're working with a very large amount of water/nutrients/etc at once, you can sharply change the pH with just a few drops of one of these compounds. The pH Down (acid/orange bottle) is especially strong. Start small (try a few drops per gallon), mix or shake it up, test again, and adjust as needed.

Awesome kit, did exactly what it should've. Also PLEASE read the instructions people, you only need to use a few drops of test solution per test don't waste your testing solution putting 10 drops in the test tube like you see in all these misinformed videos. The same goes with your pH up & down, only adjust in small marginal amounts so you don't end up adding to much base or acid and cause nutrient lock outs!

It arrived in a plastic bag everything came as said. So how it works is you take a sample of the liquid your trying to identify into a container then add a couple drops of the ph solution(small bottle) and it changes the colors. The color to numbers are on the side of the ph solution for example if its lime green your ph is 7. But im color blind and its a little hard to tell but i ask my roomate what color it is and she tells me so it works out.But there is a learning curve which i wish i would of knew that the ph upper is way more powerful then the downer. So at first i tested the ph of my fertilized water and it said green 7.0 so i added a few cap fulls of the upper and i tested it and it went down to 4.0. So then i knew that i should just do a little at a time. Then i added 1 capful of the ph downer it didn't change at all still at 4.0 then many more 1 capfulls later maybe about 5 or 7 it finally turned to were i wanted it to be. So watch out on the upper try very small portions. Anothrr con is you cant tel exactly what the ph level is because you have to go off colors i wish it would tel you exactly 5.4.But in the end it was what i was looking for and works.

Perfect for keep your PH under control. This product has saved my plants from dealing with too acidic water after adding nutrients to my DWC solution. I would recommend a eye drop tool since you do not need to use a lot of this product to get your results, I have a 5 gal, reservoir and just a few drops will move the PH precisely for me. Included is a tester kit, but I recommend a digital PH tester so you can be accurate with your adjustments. Love this product.

I found this PH kit to be very easy to use. I really appreciate the graduating color chart so I can see roughly where my PH is at. I never realized how important PH was to growing healthy plants and trees, but now I'm a total believer. My plants are so healthy and deep green, I get tons of complements. I'm convinced that besides soil quality, PH is the most important thing to consider. You can buy expensive fertilizers, but if the plant can't utilize those nutrients because the PH is off, you're just throwing money down the drain.

What is there to say? It does the job it was made to do. Product comes with one 3ml dropper as well for measuring along with the test kit. I am using this currently for my 3 gallon DWC system at the moment, which I started on 3/13/2017. It has been almost 2 weeks now and I have had nothing but success with these. Took a little experimentation at first to figure out how to balance everything out which is why I started out by only adding .5ml each time. I will be sure to update this review once I have finished this product to show the lifespan of these products or any other tips or feedback I have.

very easy to use. comes with a test tube you fill with the water you are wanting to use. place a few drops of ph. tester solution in the tube. ph. tester has a color chart on the bottle, that is handy so you wont ever loose the chart. chart tells you to either ph. up or down. comes with a easy to use dropper. its takes about 5 minuets from start to finish. I never used it, but glad I started because we have spring water. my ph. level was a 5.0 and I was able to raise it to a perfect 7.0.
