For people that are interested in reviews of products several years after purchase please see my experience below: Previous years product was purchased: 8+ Years Shipping: As expected Amazon handling: As expected Review: I bought this Xbox wireless receiver to use my controller on my PC. it worked like a dream! No issues with Drivers or anything. I love the feel of the xbox controller and now to use it for games on the PC it's great. It's been over 8 years and I still use it occasionally. I did purchase two other ones one for a friend and the other for my wife. All in working order. Thanks Amazon!

Just plug and play on Windows 10 on a Surface Pro 4, no drivers installed. After pairing the controllers the first time they are recognized every time, just like using an Xbox 360. I occasionally have an issue where my Xbox One bluetooth controller seems to get inputs from one of the 360 controllers at the same time, but I don't know if that is an issue with this receiver or just Windows getting confused between the bluetooth and the receiver. Restarting the game seems to make it go away.

i bought this product about 7 years ago; in 2011, and it still works to this day. i used to have to go to microsoft's website to download xbox360 receiver drivers to apply to this product otherwise it would show up as "unknown device" in my device manager and be unable to sync. since the arrival of windows 10, microsoft has built-in xbox360 drivers and i am able to manually pick from a list of drivers on my computer to apply to this product instead of having to download on my own. cons: sometimes the pc forgets what device this is if you unplug it and it goes back to being "unknown device" when you plug it back in and you have to reapply the drivers to it. any other issues have been resolved by simply uninstalling the device and reinstalling the drivers. pros: it really did increase the amount of games i could comfortably play on steam and anything else that accepts microsoft controllers. it has been plugged in and on every time i power up my pc every day, for the past 7 years and it has not burnt out. whenever i ever had a sync issue, it was because of the controller im trying to sync itself having insufficient battery power and not the receivers fault. although... mine looks a little different from the black one with the word microsoft on it in the product picture though. mine is white on the top panel and gray on the bottom panel with the words "xbox 360" printed at the top and a green LED at the bottom of the front of the product. on the back it says pc wireless gaming receiver and the usual made in china and disposal logos etc. if i remember correctly, mine came with a pc drivers disc about the size of a gamecube game disc. i remember struggling with the drivers contained on that disc until i went to microsoft's website itself to download drivers which then did work more reliably. since then, windows 10 has made going to microsoft's website obsolete with the built-in xbox360 drivers on the system. to install: go to device manager and find the receiver (mine showed up as unknown device in the other devices section) right click the device and go to properties and driver tab and select update driver. you must select "browse my computer for driver software" and then "let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer" and go in the "xbox360 peripherals" section and select a receiver driver to install. after this point you should be able to sync a controller to it either the provider changed how the product looks over the years, or perhaps it is coming from a different manufacturer and the one i own whose quality i enjoy, may no longer be relevant to this exact product page even though this is the exact page i ordered from so many years ago.

A lot of people are complaining that its not the actual Microsoft version because of the Japanese writing. and the cut rate packaging. However, I compared to my friends that he got from BestBuy and and EVERYTHING MATCHES UP! this is not an imitation and if it is they should be sued for full on likeness rights. This thing is the real deal, connects my 360 controllers to BOTH my windows 10 desktop and windows 10 gaming laptop. Range is just as good as an actual XBOX 360(roughly 25-30 feet). I didn't even need to software because the second I plugged this in and connected my controllers to it, it automatically recognized the hardware as a Microsoft hardware peripheral.

edit: WARNING, they have changed sellers on this item. When I bought mine, the seller was "Gimika". As of this edit (March 15, 2014), the most recent reviews still seem positive, so it's probably still okay. But double check to be sure, especially if it's May 2014 or later. Original review: There are many many wireless receivers on the market, but many of them require you to do surgery to get the drivers installed, as they do not have the correct (Microsoft) USB IDs for the official drivers to recognize them. You have to either edit the driver files, or force-load them, and the whole process is a big pain in the butt. This offering does it correctly. You just plug it in, and if you're on Win 7 or later, the drivers automatically install, no hassle. If you're on XP, there's a driver disk included. After it's connected and the drivers have installed themselves, you just press the 'introduction' button on both the receiver and the controller, and wham, it's operational. No fuss, no muss, things just work. I don't know with certainty that this receiver is actually made by Microsoft. It could still be a fake. But, if so, at least it's a *good* fake, coming with the right USB IDs, and a driver disk that certainly looks genuine. There's no hassle, the price is reasonable, and the seller seems good. If you're going to buy a wireless receiver, this is probably the one you want.

With updated Windows 10, the drivers automagically load. Pairing with a controller was equally easy. Item as described, arrived on time. Would order again, if necessary. One thing to note, and it's something other reviewers have mentioned: the item is not shipped in 'official' packaging. May seem sketchy to receive the device, instructions and CD (inorite?) in a plain manilla shipping pouch, but it's okay. If what you need is a thingy to let your XBox 360 controller connect to your PC, this is all you need.

It took seconds to download the software. I didn't have to go to some website or anything. Just put the disc in, it installed pretty fast, and I was good to go. I'm using windows 10. I had to unplug my xbox 360 at first so that the controllers wouldn't automatically connect to that instead., but both of my wireless controllers were able to hook up to the device, and worked perfectly when I tested them out in a game of dive kick

Having already had 4 Xbox 360 controllers lying around for ages, I picked up this wireless receiver for use on the computer and it has worked amazingly well. A lot of people already know just how many games automatically support the 360 controller right out of the box (A good number of steam games I own not only instantly recognize it but also have correct button prompts. Like many others, I purchased the wired controller and didn't even think about the 4 perfectly usable wireless controllers already sitting in a drawer under the TV. Not only does the recived sync up easily with my existing controllers, it's capable of syncing with multiple controllers simultaneously, so I have instant access to multiplayer games with just the one receiver! If you alread had controllers lying around from your old 360, it's very much worth it to get this to have gamepad access for PC gaming. One thing to note, when I purchased this I saw a very large number of sellers selling the product and some of the reviews mentioned getting knockoff/non-microsoft adapters. I made sure to purchase from a seller who listed their item as a genuine Microsoft product, and that's what I got.

I've been wanting this adapter for so long. I don't know what took me so long to purchase it. I keep plugging in ps4 controllers into my Windows 7 computer and while the controllers sync up just fine.. many of the games I play want me to use an xbox 360 controller so I spend so much time trying to figure out how to trick the game into thinking my ps4 controller is a xbox 360 controller.. and it never works quite right. I end up getting frustrated and never actually playing a game because of this. The game becomes, how do I google and fix my ps4 controller to work with this game, which is NOT a fun game. Anyway, to review this product I would say: Pros: * Works fantastic * Syncs up to 4 devices * (mine) came with driver disc Cons: * Was not plug-n-play for me * (since I do not like installing drivers from discs for fear they are already outdated) Had to sift through Microsoft website pages to find the driver * Have to restart computer for it to work The cons aren't bad enough to knock a star lol, installing a driver and restarting so I can play games with wireless controllers for the rest of eternity is worth it. For my test, I have 2 xbox 360 controllers collecting dust because I have a ps4 now and I never wanna use my xbox 360 anymore. I have them on a charging station so I knew they would be better used paired to my computer than just sitting there staying charged and collecting dust. As soon as I synced them up I opened up my Super Nintendo Emulator and tested setting all the buttons for player 1 and player 2 and it worked flawlessly. I have no complaints whatsoever. The Microsoft website says you can also pair an xbox 360 headset to this. I haven't tried that, but if that is true that is really cool! That opens up a new market of devices I can shop for to enhance my computers abilities.
