I just received these from Amazon, and for once, it just fits! Just prior to last winter I started shopping for chains for my modified Xterra. With a lift, I was not worried about body contact from the chains, I also have larger than factory tires (stock- 265/65-r16, to 285/75-R16) @ 3" larger diameter. The first chains I tried were superZ HD ZT835 from amazon. After dinking around under the truck I pulled the spare and tried, NO GO, not even close, like 2-3" from even connecting the outer band. Amazon return is always awesome, so I thought I would try local. Les Schawab had Laclede tire chains. Drove in and they came out and said... get real chains, try these (3228CAM) CAM lock ladder chains. Took them home, screwed around again for an hour and drove back. They came out and said, let us try. 4 techs were screwing around with the truck and said... they should fit. What I found was the duratrac's have an aggressive side wall as well as tire surface which prevented common sizes from fitting. They were busy and said we might be able to help you in 5 hours. I said I would try a differnt branch, drove to another branch that is never busy and they were able to help, found the 3227CAM chains fit. But these weight in a 48lbs for the pair.... Figured I would try SCC again for the fronts, as well as a keep in the truck all the time for everyday rears as needed. Did some searching and found that the SZ462 super Z8 chain should fit. 2 days later they are here and the fit! I just mounted on the front since there is more access due to my plate bumper but the rears can fit the monster chain links just fine, so these little cable chains will fit for sure. So now I have HD rears, cable fronts, or everyday cable rears that only weigh 6lbs compared to the 48lbs for the HD rears. I think the rig is ready for snow.... now for it to start falling, hopefully soon. Photos attached to show the difference and fitment. Defiantly worth the buy if you need them.

I've spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on different chain sets and cleats. All have been useful, but only the Super Z8's have had the magic combination of: a) Good grip on snow, bare ice, and also mud, b) Can be installed without moving the truck, even if you're already stuck, c) do not require re-tensioning after driving a few hundred yards, d) compact storage bags, and e) relatively easy to put on. With these on the truck, I'm fearless. Now I can plow over the side of a steep bank to push the snow out of the way for the next storm, and then just back right up. It's crazy. Though it's still possible to get stuck, though. For example, if you drive up onto a soft snow bank and then sink in up to the truck bed (tried that two weeks ago -- oops). Caveats are that if you're already stuck, you have to completely dig out any tire that you want to install them on, which stands to reason, and "easy to put on" is a relative term. You have to get the right size for the tire, which SCC will help with if you call them or download their chart, and you'll have to snug them into place by hand before applying the tensioners, and then the tensioners themselves will take some swearing and muscle power. That said, I've never been unable to get the chains on, even on a set that was one size too small for the tires. It just required more snugging to get the chains as close to the hub as possible, and then more grip strength. The chains are still inconvenient, even if it takes only ten minutes to put them on, but that said, I can't imagine useful chains being any easier to use. If you want to drive a 6,000 pound truck over the side of a frozen bank, you're going to need chains that stay on the tires, and that requires some reasonable tension.

I bought these for my 275/65-20s. I have put on many tire chains in my day, but never cables. With my new GMC pickup I need to run the cables for the clearance issues. I attempted to put these on the way the instructions said and was unsuccessful. I then draped them over the top like a set of chains, then you can manipulate them a little better and I still could not get them done up...and just looking at the fit I could tell there was no way. After many swear words and frustration I opted to return these to Amazon. No problem...but I thought I should try and figure out the issue. I called Peerless and the lady took the information and said they'd call me back. An hour later I got a call and I told him I had new tires and that they are Hankook Dynapro ATMs. This was the issue. He said that tire manufacturers can be off by up to 10% on the actual size as per the label on the tire. And this tire tends to run big. So...he said he'd send me a set of SZ486 cables and they'd fit...he was going to send them no charge. I told him I'd return these and get the suggested size. So...for the info, it may take a bigger set, but the staff was extremely helpful and there is no problems switching them out. Customer support is extremely important to me these days...yes the size didn't fit but we got to the bottom of it, so for this reason I give them all stars! Maybe this will help someone else in the future.

PRETTY sure I got the correct size . . . and YES, they are a bit 'challengin' to put on (in particular, getting the giant black rubber band part clipped on to each section, which pulls the tension required on the whole deal). And YES, you'll get dirty doing it. And you'll definitely need a 'grabber' (stick or rod with a hook) to reach around the tire when you first put it on the ground. But MAN, this worked like a charm once it was on. I should have read the description, it only contains a set of two. I was thinking it was going to be 4. My bad, I should learn to read! But, I was advised (and complied) to put them on the front tires (due to engine weight helping for better grip/traction). Used these on my 4wd Nissan Armada . . . made it up and down pretty steep dirt (covered with snow) driveway with easy. Don't think I'll need to get 2 more to make a set of 4. Overall, good product. Just make sure you practice putting them on before you need to do it for real. And then just realize that the tires will be wet/dirty when you're ACTUALLY putting them on for real. They comes with some disposable plastic gloves that go a ways up your arm (and can fit over your jacket), but they are good for about 1-2 uses, and mine got ripped up so I tossed them out.

SZ492 is the size you need for a 37x12.5 Tire (like a humvee take-off) they fit beautifully. I previously had them on 35's and although they fit, they were very loose and I ended up using two cable ties per tire to try and take up the slack. I think their sizing information is a little off. Regardless, I am very happy with them on a 37" tall tire. Easy to install, just wrap them around, two "clip ins" per tire, and string up the rubber tensioner. Maximum of 5 minutes for both tires, couldnt be easier. I got the chance to use them, put them on the FRONT of my K10 with a spartan locker and wow....these things are like cheating. I was driving on straight ice and almost no slipping or sliding. I even TOWED ANOTHER CAR UP A SHEET OF ICE!! and dont even think I spun at all. I am sold on these things, I may order another set so all 4 tires can have chains, but just having them on the front was like driving around with spikes in your tires, amazing traction for the ice. The only thing is they are quite harsh to ride on and speeds need to be kept below 15mph or the vibration gets pretty bad, but that goes for most snow chains

I originally ordered the Super Z8 SZ462 since that is what matches their size chart for my Toyo Open Country M/T LT275/70r18 tire, but those measurements are likely measured for a street tire with no knobby tread. They arrived 2 days later and installing this size was a no-go, not even close to being able to clamp together. I was baffled for a minute. After talking to Peerless Tire, the parent company of SCC, they suggested the SZ468 size. I did an Amazon exchange and two days later I had the new size, it fit perfect and was a few dollars less (for a bigger size)! I've had all kinds of chains and I like the ease of installation with these over any other chain/cable type. Especially knowing you don't have to stop after a bit to double-check the tension. Do they work better than others, that's negotiable, but getting back on the road to beat others to the lift line, these win.

I used these cable chains for my 16 foot box van. I think it weighs about 10000 lbs. It's really herky Without chains, I get stuck VERY easily in snow, ice, and mud. After a little practice, it became very easy to put these things on. I climbed a very steep, very slippery hill, and went back down it later with zero trouble. I even slammed on the brakes going down it and only slid like 10 ft. However NOTE: It is a dually, and found it very, very, difficult at best to get them on according to their instructions, but I don't think they're meant for duallies anyway. But I figured out if I drape the chains over the top and reach my hands in through the large openings in the rims to fasten the backside buckle thingy, then it was really easy. So I wouldn't recommend for duallies unless you have similar openings or if they're designed to go over both wheels. All that being said, I am very happy with them. easy install, they do their job really well, and the quality seems robust.

I prefer these type of cable snow chains over the traditional steel chain link types. I have a set for both front and rear axles of my 1986 Military M998 HMMWV. I have 2 addition sets that are for both front and rear axles on my 1988 Jeep Cherokee, one size set to compliment the BF Goodrich all terrain tires and a second size set for the Jeeps street tires if needed. They are easy to put on and take off and the cables do not do any damage to the tires.

I bought one set, then went back and purchased a second. Couple of nice things about this. I am frequently in places where a lifted 4x4 on large tread is insufficient. Two chains will pretty much get you out of anything. Four however will prevent you from getting stuck in the first place. I spent some time testing these out. Basically high centering (5inch lift on 33s) my jeep on purpose until i can't move. Then digging around the tires. The nice thing about these chains, is they don't have to be driven onto to put on. They wrap around the wheel without having to move the vehicle. Once on the back wheels, its a sinch...yes there is some digging involved but considering you can extricate one self simply by putting on chains (no which work) thats pretty good. Great for anyone who plays in the snow.

Bought these 2 weeks ago. These chains are very nice quality. The problem is that they don't fit. According to the chart, the SZ-462 is the correct size for my 275/R70-18 Michelin tires. After 30 minutes of struggle and the help of large channel locks, I was able to force them on. As shown in the photo, they're so tight it's impossible to attach the tension device. I returned them to Amazon without any question, that's nice. But I still want a set of these chains! An email to Peerless (Security) customer service was never answered. All I ask of them is for help getting the size correct. Second attempt to reach manufacturer was well received, and they were very helpful.
