1500W maximum power draw. Very comfortable in the hand. Not overly heavy but not too light to make it useless. Well balanced. Steams very well, no sputtering or staining. Heats and reheats quickly. Very stylish design and the case cover keeps the unit clean. In my opinion, this iron is safer to use than a regular iron since the base is very stable and you have to return the iron to the base during use in order for the iron to reheat. This iron is not likely to tip over. Cord storage is in the base and it retracts under spring-loaded tension. I also suspect, though I'm not entirely sure, but I believe it might use slightly less electricity than a conventional iron since it only draws current while the iron is placed in the base. Highly recommended.

I'm not a review person but i had to pass along how much I like this iron. After 30 years my cordless broke but only because I dropped it. I was skeptical of new ones and did some research. When this came I had stacks of laundry waiting so plugged it it. While I haven't tried the steam function - I'm old and use a damp pressing cloth - the iron was amazing. It IS heavier than my old one but not so it bothers me. I read about how others want some sort of signal that it needs warmed but really, as I move the item around on my ironing board the iron needs to be replaced on its warming plate anyway so rarely does it get cold and never do I need a signal. While I doubt this one will last 30 years like my old one - and yes, it was a pioneer of its own because 30 years ago no one had thought about them, its been wonderful. I can't use regular irons because the cords get in my way so then I don't iron or use them. This one is a winner.

I have the original version of this iron from 16 years ago, and while it still works, it was starting to not hold its charge very well. I won't fault it, I've had MUCH more expensive irons (one in particular comes to mind - yellow and has automatic standy-uppy feet...) that don't last more than 2 or 3 years before they lose heat, electronics dont work or they are dumping water all over your ironing board 😩. So, given how much I love my old Panasonic cordless, I thought I'd give this newer version a try. For the record, I'm a quilter, wife and mom to two littles so I probably use my irons a little more than the average bear. Firstly, I love cordless. When you're a quilter and ironing huge pieces of fabric at a time, that cord can be a real nuisance. This iron can go anywhere. Heat up time is about average on this machine, certainly not as fast as my $$yellow iron$$ but does the job. The one thing I miss the most (compared to that yellow guy again) is the 30 minute shut off time. This Panasonic is much shorter (I'd have to look it up but it feels like about 10 mins). If you've never used a cordless, you need to return it to its base to recharge every so often; ever hear your regular iron click and the lights dim a little? This is it recharging. So same principal goes for the cordless, it's just you have to remember to set it on its base every few minutes. This iron comes with an upgrade in steam holes over its predecessor, which is awesome (the old version only had steam at the tip) The water tank on this puppy is big. Very comparable to the yellow guy which I believe holds 12oz. Heat-wise it's hot. It's not as hot as some Rowentas I've used, but it's comparable to the Oliso 1600 (in my opinion). Empty (no water) it's relatively lightweight (feels much lighter than other irons I've used) and even with the tank full it's still not overly heavy. I like that it comes with a snap on case for transport, but mostly I like the fact I can set the lid on it at the end of the day to keep the dust off. I think if you're used to having Rowenta irons (upper end ones at least) you might be disappointed in a loss of heat moving to this iron. However, as a quilter I do love this iron. Obviously, if this is my second one in 16 years and I am going back to Panasonic after courting the other more expensive brands for a few years. 😉

This is a 1600 watt, weighty and high quality iron. It has plenty of steam and heat for a long time off the base and it takes no time to re-charge the iron between pressings. If you quilt, you will LOVE this iron. It also has an OFF button on the iron so you can decide to shut it off if you know its gunna be a while before u use it again in order to save electricity. Note - It takes no time to re-heat when u go back to turn it on, but only after you have heated it up initially when you first used it. Also, having a "curved" stainless steel soleplate means the iron will NEVER catch on the edge of fabric, makes it glide over fabric like glass and makes it the ultimate in non-stick. The removable water tank is priceless as you can fill up the tank directly from the tap and leave the hot iron on the base. This is the best iron I have ever owned and the first one with a curved stainless steel soleplate. (I'll never go back to "non-gunna stick soleplate). Also, this entire iron with the aqua colored bubble cover looks so cool, I leave it out for display. Also having the OFF/ON button on the iron means you never have to unplug it to re-set the auto shut off feature. I do finally unplug it once I am done for the day and use the retractable cord to make it neat under the cover bubble. I love this aqua colored iron.

Really the best iron ever. We used to only have Rowenta irons, and they do make a quality product, but this is so convenient without the cord in the way all the time! Heats up very quickly, too. My husband didn't want to wait for the Amazon order to arrive - wanted to just go to some box store and grab an iron ("they're pretty much all alike, right?") I convinced him to wait: He was so glad we did! He does at least 50% of the ironing, and he can't believe how easy it now is. The lighter weight (from the Rowena) is nice as well, though it still has a nice heavy plate.

This replaced a decent (read expensive) Rowenta with a cord. My dog pulled the Rowenta off the ironing board by catching his foot or tail in the cord. The Rowenta lived and so did the dog, but out of concern for the safety of dog and home I immediately started shopping for a new iron--cordless being the first priority. I was concerned that the iron would not be as hot as I need it to be for linen and cotton and read all the reviews and decided to try it anyway because it is easily returned to Amazon. I chose the steel sole plate and did not want a non-stick sole plate because of toxins and scratching. Happily - I am able to announce that I am using it almost daily for quilting and weekly for the laundry/ironing tasks. It stays hot - good and hot. I have a Polder ironing board with a metal tray at the end for an iron to sit on. I place the base there and the board is free so I can iron with no trouble. I use the iron, put it back on the base, adjust whatever I am ironing and continue ironing in this manner. This keeps the iron hot all the time. It takes 10 minutes for the auto shut off and so as long as I am working steadily there is no problem. The Rowenta had an auto-off like most higher price irons and it was off every time I turned around. I hated that. As a quilter, I usually work in an assembly line fashion, I piece everything I can, press and then piece again and press so I do not have a problem with the iron cooling down in the middle of my work. I took the Panasonic Cordless to my quilting and sewing group meetings and everyone came running over to see it--it is really lovely. Some people oohed and aahhhed, and put it on their Christmas list, but some were quickly disinterested. We all have our own needs--and this iron suits me very well. Because of the cordless design, I don't mind ironing at all anymore. Reasons to like it: The iron is beautiful, with a clean design, 4 simple soft-touch buttons. The clear case is one of the best features as it can be carried to quilting classes or sewing groups. It is easy to set temperatures, there are 3 temps and you can press a button and choose the appropriate temp, no spinning dial or guessing like most irons. There are lights to show if its cool or hot. Iron gets very hot. Steam feature works fine, although I often use a dry iron for quilting. The removable water tank is fantastic. No more carrying water in a pitcher to my iron to refill it. Now I can gently release the tank and take it right to the water source. Retractable cord on the base. I should also mention that I don't use the spray feature because of habit I keep a large sprayer filled with fresh rosemary scented water. My only gripe, a small one, is that I wish it had a longer cord on the base, but then it probably would not be retractable.

My iron arrived and I was so happy... dancing around and singing about my new iron!! Mom thought I had lost my mind because to iron in her day was WORK!! This iron has not disappointed!! Works great!! Does not turn itself off unless it's not used in a while and heats up very quickly (I use it on high... have not tried the steam yet) Highly recommend!!

Before my Panasonic Cordless Iron arrived, I did have buyers remorse, because I was replacing one that I've had for many years and because of some of the reviews I felt as though I was wasting my money. Those were the same complaints that I had with my present iron. Well, I received the iron and I couldn't be happier! It has some modern features like a removable water tank, but it can be filled through a hole if you don't want to remove it. Retractable cord, cover with a handle on it, Someone mentioned that the water tank was small, but for me it lasted for the whole time that I was ironing without a refill. Whenever I needed to adjust the article that I was ironing, I left the iron on it's base that kept the iron hot the whole time that I was ironing. No more buyers remorse!

I have always trusted, and liked Panasonic products. They make solid, decent, and quality products. This iron is my best purchase. Perfect, neat and clean. I have no issues with it for not heating adequately or anything. People need to learn, and adapt to the way this iron works. Yes it is not meant for drapes or large items like curtains, bed sheets etc under normal circumstances because it will require lot of effort. Buy it without reading those negative reviews.

I bought this because I saw it on Quilt Roadies on YouTube. I have only recently started piecing quilts. This is great for short term ironing between sewing and pressing seams. I need it at its highest temperature for cotton. It does the job. I love the carry case! However, uh oh, here it comes, I will not replace it with my Rowenta iron when I have a lot of ironing to do. Who irons anymore? Well, I do. Hey, I grew up as a five year old ironing my dad's handkerchiefs and all our pillowcases. I timed it for how long it is hot for cotton. Five minutes before it goes back to the base. Meanwhile it does a good job.
