I received the PSP Daxter Entertainment Pack today. I'm loving it so far. I have really enjoyed playing Daxter as I've liked previous installments of the game. I like the look and feel of the PSP. I'm blown away by the screen and graphics. I also own a Nintendo DS and enjoy playing that too but it's nice to have the PSP for games that aren't offered on the DS. I'm not going to say that one system is better than the other because they are so different and have different styles of games for them. I like that I can put MP3's on the memory stick and take my music with me so I don't have to borrow my daughters Ipod. I also like that I can watch movies on the go with it for those long boring car trips. It will also come in handy on camping trips where we get stuck in the tent during a rainy day. The only problem now is my 8 year old wants one so it looks like we'll be purchasing another one soon.

this is a good deal for the price (or was when I bought it) you get the New PSP with the tv outputs (cables sold seperately) a umd read ahead caching system for faster loading and no longer is the door spring loaded now you pry it open with a fingertip. also in this pack you get a 1 GB duo2 memory stick wich works great and is very, very, fast in load times and then you get Daxter the platforming game (similar to the Crash series) and finally you get Family Guy the Freaking Sweet collection. overall it's the psp to get considering with the darth vader psp all you get is Battlefront: RS and the psp so in my opinion this is the best deal going. PSP Ice Silver with Daxter 1GB duo2 memory stick and family guy. Buy here PSP Daxter Entertainment Pack - Ice Silver or go for vader's psp here Sony PSP Star Wars Battlefront Renegade Squadron Entertainment Pack - Ceramic White

I have to say, I'm totally satisfied with my PSP, Pack ice silver, I guess is the best investment, because is the most complete, game, movie and memory stick, that's a lot, plus a great performance! I have seen older PSP version, and this one is lighter and it doesn't feel weak as I have heard compared to earlier version. This equipment is just like a standar console, delivers everything I was looking for!

The design and color was this new PsP are great. I had one of the older ones for a few months before this one, I dropped it once and the door to the games broke open and wouldn't lock shut again. But with this one, if dropped the door won't do that because of it's new design. But other than that, screen is a bit better and brighter, the silver coloring is very nice compared to the black glossy color and you can see every finger print on it, so don't have that problem with the new silver. Daxter was totally great, story was a lot of fun, the movies it mimicked was the best. Such as Matrix and Braveheart(I think that's what it was), also some others i can't quite remember. All and all, this thing is great and will provide fun many years to come with new games coming out.

Got my new ice silver PSP Slim (aka "PSP 2000", model PSP-2001) 3 days ago and I absolutely love it. The 30% lighter weight vis-a-vis the original PSP makes holding it so much easier and comfier. I used to need a case/comfort grip (PSP Comfort Grips Black) to use the old PSP -- BTW, the case/comfort grip/screen protect/stand 4-in-1 product in that link still works for the PSP slim! -- to use the PSP but with the new slim version I can hold it comfortably. The other big improvement is in UMD loading time. It's noticeably much faster than before, making watching UMD movies much easier. BTW, this is achieved through caching on the MemoryStick, so if you don't have a MemoryStick in the PSP slim, you won't notice this speed-up. Sony also bumped the internal memory from 32MB to 64MB. Maybe this will help game-loading times, but early reports indicate the extra memory will mainly used for improved texture rendering. We shall see if any software improvement will come out. The screen also seems brighter than the original PSP's, and mine doesn't have any dead pixels. (My old PSP's LCD had 3 dead pixels, including a fairly bright green one.) Another new feature is the ability to output video (movies and games!) to an external TV, via an optional component AV or composite AV cable. I just ordered the $20 PSP 2000 Component AV Cable and really look forward to watching my collection of UMD and MemoryStick movies on my HDTV. Otherwise, it's pretty much the same as the original PSP: same screen size and resolution, control layout, etc. Not a bad thing since it takes no time at all to get acquainted with this baby. The wi-fi button is now located on the top, and Sony took away the rarely-used IR window. One thing, though, is this Daxter pack does not come with headphones or the wired remote control, and you cannot use the wired control for the original PSP ("PSP-1000") in this new PSP ("PSP-2000"). In short, I think the lighter weight and faster UMD loading time make this a totally worthy upgrade for those of us really into our PSPs. For casual PSP owners, though, this is probably not all that interesting; the original PSP should be good enough for casual use. Those looking to get into PSP gaming should definitely get the new PSP Slim / PSP 2000.

I mainly use my PSP for streaming internet radio these days, but that's more telling of my time availability than the functionality of a PSP. Also, convergence is making a lot of devices unnecessary for many purposes, so I play more games on my phone these days than my PSP. I can't say much more than other people on here, but this is a great system, wish there were more games to my liking on it, but I do like it's versatility... also, they should have a better web browser, and downloadable apps that extend its functionality... why on earth would they not do this, I feel the same about the PS3 and Wii, these devices have so much underutilized capability that would INSTANTLY AND DRAMATICALLY widen their market. Good as a gift, fun as a toy, not the most useful thing unless you buy the GPS attachment or camera attachment... my Japanese friend and I went to a Weird Al Concert where he got a video of himself grabbing Al's butt... useful.

After much research and internal debate, I decided to go with the older, safer version of the PSP. I had heard a lot about the screen issues on the 3000, so I went with the Daxter pack. I am glad I did. The screen looks great and I have little issue with it. It is light, looks great and plays well. This package, obviously, comes with Daxter. I started playing it and it's a fun game. It also comes with a 1 GB memory card and a Family Guy UMD. I had previously only played the initial release of the PSP, and the load times seem to have improved. If you're thinking of getting a PSP, you may want to snag this version before you are only allowed to buy a 3000, or you may want to wait until the 3000's screen issues are resolved.

And for a year now, I still think I made the right decision until a few weeks ago. Having played a level on Ratchet and Clank 'Tools of Destruction' for the PS3, I became instantly hooked on Ratchet and Clank. I had never played the previous installments on the PS2. I was also leaving for Iraq so I couldnt play it anymore until I got back. So here in Iraq, I began fiending for the game, heh. Then my buddy told me they had one on the PSP. What?! So I jumped onto Amazon and saw that they had it. I immediatly added it to my cart and then started to look up the PSP, only to find a multitude of options on what to buy. I read that there was a new slim version out which you could buy alone, or in either 2 bundles (Daxter or Star Wars). I went with the Daxter one because of the 1g memory stick and the Family Guy UMD. I didnt care for the silver case, but now that I got it...it's definitely not that bad. I havent played Daxter that much, due to me playing other games such as Ratchet, Burnout, and now Metal Gear. I do have to say that I havent picked up my DS in about 3 weeks (and I'm in the middle of playing Zelda!). I'm LOVING this little system. Its much lighter than my friends old PSP. I like how you can add pictures and videos and music to the system. Very cool. I STILL love my DS, but now I love my PSP also. Both systems have their ups and downs and I'm glad I own them both now.

Awesome little system, made my deployment a little easier

I owned the first PSP and i just purchased the new Ice Silver PSP. I'm not gonna lie - at first it does seem very light. Which is a good thing - I thought the old one was a little too heavy - the color which is not as great as the black is better in the sense that it shows no fingerprints. In terms of people complaining about the battery cover or memory card cover or UMD cover- i have no problems with them whatsoever - the only problem i find is when you insert a UMD it is not really secure - it is just placed in the "tray" and when you close it you feel as though the UMD is probably not secure. But that's just a lil flaw. Nothing major. I think people think that it feels cheap because of the weight. It is lighter - slimmer and slightly smaller to me. Which is good - it doesnt wear on your hands quickly as i found with the first PSP. Battery life to me has improved but not really the loading times. However the increase from 32 to 64MB internal memory will come in handy in future games i'm sure that will take advanage of the larger memory. Now the Package Deal - it's a nice deal - 1 PSP Ice Silver PSP and a 1 Gig memory stick - however i thought it was pretty cheap when it came to the Family Guy or Daxter cardboard sleeves - they should have at least placed them in small plastic UMD cases. Also i thought it was sort of a risk to have the actual product displayed on the front - When you see it for the first time you think that it is a picture of the PSP on the front - Wrong! Actually its the PSP itself - no protection for the screen except for clear plastic. It also comes with the AC power cord and adaptor - i think that maybe Sony should have included the earphones with it - i dunno - just thought it would be a nice addition or at least the soft pouch to help you carry it around. As with all PSP owners we know the first item to buy is a screen protector and filter. Trust Me - YOU NEED IT! - You would think by now that Sony would make the screen a little more resitant to scratches - but unfortunately they havent fixed that up as yet. As for dead pixels on my PSP - i'm glad that it didn't come with as single dead pixel. Overall though i think its a great buy, a great little system - i have a Nintendo DS as well - and love my games on the DS but for some reason i lean a little more to the PSP because i think of the superior graphics - the capability or music, pictures, movies and videos all in a nice, clean, slim multimedia player in your hands - i like to think of it as my iPod with a bigger screen. As for space and memory - thats easy to fix - just buy a couple to a few memory sticks - depending on what all you have on them or what types of multimedia you prefer to deal with. NOTE: as for the USB cable - if you happen to have a Motorola USB phone cable - it will work as well - i use that from my V3i and never did buy it seperately. Hope this review helped you to make a decision - Overall 5 out of 5 for me. If you have a PSP and want to get a newer one - get it.
