Great For Combining With A Real Security System...
As another reviewer pointed out, don't bother with putting batteries in this as it just makes it look fake. Using this dummy camera in combination with a real surveillance system helps increase the area you are protecting which was my application of this product. Overall, without knowing any better this dummy camera can look very real and for the price it was worth the investment. I did have an issue where the camera part popped lose during shipping, however I easily was able to disassemble it and fix the issue. Likewise I could have returned it for a replacement but as a plus, these dummy cameras are easy to take apart and repair as necessary.

3 different packages but they are all good
I ordered 3 and they seem to come from 3 different companies, the screws and plastic screw holders that go into the wall were a little different from each other, but I got them all up with no problem and they seem to look real. Even put batteries in and the lights do come on, not sure the pattern or what makes them work, but with 3 of them along the wall in my trash room, it seems that one always comes on when you are in the area and that gives it that real feel. For the price of less than 5 dollars each, you can't beat these fake cameras. Now if street people who come in looking for recyclables, etc., if they just treat the room with a little more care because they think someone is looking at them, that's all I hope for. Thanks

no complaints
I read the reviews--some people said this thing looks fake with the flashing light so I just never put the battery in it. I had trouble mounting it on a brick wall because the spacing of the mounting screws had to be pretty exact so I made a template on paper to show the distance of the mounting screws, then calculated the angle to make it look as though the camera is facing the correct direction (in case of the unlikely event that anyone actually examines the device closely enough to see which direction the slightly visible "camera" is facing), then I mounted the mounting screws on pressure treated wood. Then it was easy to mount the pressure treated wood high enough on the brick wall to discourage casual interference (about nine or ten feet I guess). I used 3 inch screws through the pressure treated wood and into holes in the brick mortar filled with liquid nails. Before putting the presure treated wood I drilled a hole and put a one foot ethernet cable into the wall so that during installation it looked vaguely as if I was mounting a real camera. The problem is that I was unable to remove the ethernet cable before mounting the board--so the pressure treated wood is not completely flush. I don't believe all that matters though. I hope this will keep my place looking pretty secure. Looks real enough to me hope it looks real enough to discourage the bad guys.

Has everyone fooled
I have real cameras around my house, but wanted to place a dummy camera on the side entrance of my garage where I'm missing a real camera. This camera comes with a template that is easy for you to follow in order for you to screw it onto a hard surface. It even includes drywall anchors if you'd like to put this in sheet rock. One word of advice, I think the blinking LED feature is pointless. Most real cameras nowadays do not have a blinking light like how they did in the 80's and 90's. This camera looks very real, especially when attached to the ceiling where people can't really tell if it's real or fake.

Love them!
Love these!!!. Got one for front & back of house. I don't use the batteries, cause I don't want to be climbing the ladder changing batteries. I have one at the front door entryway corner 10' up, so you can't really examine it. I have had a few friends notice them & thought they were real. Had a security guy come out for estimate of a real camera, & he said "why do you want a camera here, you already have one"? I told him it was fake. I'm sure the battery, to make the red light flash would make it more realistic, but I as I said, I don't want to draw attention by climbing a ladder & changing the battery all the time.

They're smart we gotta be smarter
It's keeping the criminals at bay. Haven't had any packages stolen since I bought it,only thing is I don't keep the batteries in because it blinks red which isn't realistic. Real cameras have a green light not red. Most professional crooks know that. I also bought a smile you're on camera sticker put it right under the peep hole. So they don't know if I have a camera in the peep hole too or the one over head. They're smart we gotta be smarter.

Perfect decoy camera.
Updated April 2017: Added some photos. This is almost two years after installing them. Originally, I didn't screw the mounting screw in deep enough, so one of them was hanging on one screw for a while, revealing it as a fake. I tightened all the screws and jammed both decoy cameras on there very tight -- they will not be moving any time soon. Also, the Chamberlain motion sensors pointing down from the eaves is a really useful touch. It's a visual deterrent, and it does alert me if somebody (or the neighbors dog) comes up on my porch. It's a bit like an anti-stalker device. -------------original review from 2015------------------------- FYI: I protected it on both sides with Chamberlain drive-way motion sensors, pointed down from the eaves. I placed the base station for the motion sensors close enough to the doors inside that a potential thief will hear them beeping as he approaches the rear entry. Just one of several of things to freak out a potential burglar who approaches my back patio or garage door. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002ISZD2C From a distance, the decoy camera with the two motions sensors three feet on each side is plenty to send a potential thief to the next house. Happy protecting!

Look like the real thing.
I worked for a small retail store and sadly we had a huge problem with shrink (theft). Or store had real security cameras but only in certain areas. I ordered these because they look almost the same as the real thing. Placed these in the isles where we found most of the opened packaging from previous thefts, and our shrink issue dropped dramatically! We didn't even install the batteries to make them blink since the real cameras didn't have that function.

Actually saw this detire would be thives. Great wonderful gadget!
Love this especially for the price and it looks so real it has prevented and almost break-in. Saw it for ourselves. Out walking our dog, one night turned the corner on our block and saw two young men trying our door till we heard one say, "they they got a camera dude lets run" Well as we stood there in utter shock we could not believe our stroke of luck by having brought this little effective gadget that saved our home and possibly our lives. Just amazing at this price get several.

Ordered 2 same time, Got two different ones. One already Opened.
One box was obviously opened and handled before. Scratched a little bit, but not sure if that was from the first owner or cheap QA. They looked similar, but ere not at all the same. One the LED's on TOP, the other on the bottom. Different part numbers too. It appears AMAZON has sent me a returned item to clear some stock. My faith in them took a hit on this one. Up to now they have been pretty perfect. That said, they looked the same and are inexpensive. I bought them to experiment with. To see if I can get one of those cheapo camera's off eBay or here and mount it inside. Just to see if I can do it my way and if the plastic is clear enough to get a good image through it. For the price, and what I want it for, the Item still gets a 5. But if I could rate Amazon or ZITRADES, which I will, it's a 2. It fills my need, but don't expect consistency in quantity purchases. I am, not sure if it's Amazon or the supplier ZITRADES who pulled the fast one on me here. For the price, it's not worth the argument, but the feeling of deception will affect further purchasing decisions.
