I have had several of these locks (only due to me leaving them by accident!) for use at the gym, and they are great quality. The product feels substantial and secure. Setting the combination is super easy and takes less than 3 minutes. Having a combination to open is much nicer to use at a gym so that you don't have to mess around with a key while you are working out. Would definitely recommend this for those looking for an easy to use cheap lock.

The lock is easy to set up and seems to work well. I was disappointed to see that a number’s paint is already fading (see picture), and I just opened it. Update: I was able to get a free replacement, which looks good, so I’ve updated my review to 5 stars.

I bought this lock after my old one stopped opening, which was the same brand, but the old school right-left-right style,my review and subsequent update on that one,is floating around on Amazon or in my profile page.I almost didn't buy this lock because of the quality of the other one but a) I needed something for my gym's lockers and b) Master Lock has been around forever,so I figured I'd give them another chance.I like having the ability to set my own 4 digit combo to whatever I want, and then be able to change them up whenever I feel like it,instead of relying on 3 factory given numbers that I can't change at all.The numbers themselves are pretty easy to see (this coming from someone who's worn glasses most of their life....lol),the dials turn easily, and the lock is pretty tough, too,I dropped it on a locker room tile floor not long after I got it and it's still working with no problems 6 months later (I bought it in July of 2018).It doesn't feel cheap either, for a combo lock it has some weight to it.I probably wouldn't use this to secure really valuable stuff, but for using on a gym locker,it works just fine.

I have read a lot of reviews about this product and I must say that this lock does the job for me. But here are a few things people should know before thinking that this is impenetrable. From the reviews i noticed that this lock is not hard to break or pry open or whatever. It also tells you on the package that it is a level 4 protection out of 10. Just like a bicycle lock, these have protection ratings.. So basicaly, this acts a little more than just a deterent but wont hold up from a determined theif. If youre using this for a gym locker and the gym is kinda sketchy (the people) then i recommend a bulletproof heavy weighted lock. But always be aware of your sorroundings before putting your items in the lockers. You shouldnt be putting fancy items in public lockers anyways, unless the gym provides those locker doors equipted with a combination lock already.

I was hoping to get the red one that's shown, but instead received a pretty blue lock. It was pretty easy to set the combination (I always forget the ones that come pre-set), but you really do have to follow the directions exactly. I had to repeat the process to get it right, but it worked the second time, and I really like it. The four spinning number combo reminds me of what you'd see on a suitcase, and they are really smooth and haven't given me any trouble. I use it in a locker room that's connected to a pool, and can't complain-- I'd buy another one if needed.

This lock works just fine for the gym. I'm a little confused on why there are so many people complaining. Setting the combination was very straightforward, unless people dont understand the difference between clockwise and counter clockwise. I see people even made videos on how to set it. You just have the side showing the number facing you, rotate the shackle a quarter turn counter clockwise or LEFT, push down, rotate it another quarter turn so that its facing you, set the combo, and then rotate it back in reverse. No big deal really. I was hoping for a blue one and thats what I got so all is good. Its nice not having to keep a key with me while at the gym. Also from what I've read it seems safer than the traditional master dial type mechanism.

Working well for the specific need I had. This is not a lock for uber-secure purposes, because it could be quickly broken with with a hammer, for instance. However, if you need a basic lock that can be quickly released without requiring a key, this works fine. For example, it would work for preventing small children from opening prohibited containers, or for meeting legal requirements in transporting firearms in the back of a vehicle. I also use it on ammo cans in my securely locked garage.

Best lock ever, for the gym. Look no further. I came back and bought again, (one for my daughter). Why do I think this is an amazing design? When at the gym, I look at guys spinning their paddle lock, (a 50 year old design), that is virtually drama and takes extra time (a pain point). With this new generation design, you can eliminate pain points. You can get in and out in seconds, while the guy next to you is still spinning his old dated Masterlock. If you want to get in and out, fast, look no further. This is the lock you want.

Size / Dimensions: Shackle 1/4 inch diameter: When closed 1 3/8 inch from top of shackle to body of lock. 1 1/4 inch from outside of shackle left to outside shackle right. Lock body is 2 inches wide 2 1/2 tall and 1/2 inch at the tumblers (dials)(they are the widest part.) Pro's: This has a thinner than the heavy duty hasp for situations where you need such. Easy to change the combo (without any special key). Con's: I don't know how long it will hold up outdoors. Not a high security lock, if you are looking for that. (Not that I have tried, but I feel like I could break this with a hammer.) It works good for what I need it for. Large numbers make it easy to see the combo. As far as changing the combo: The instructions say, turn hasp 90 degrees. Press hasp in, set new combo. Really its that easy. But for those that are mechanically challenged, let me add the following: The lock needs the hasp pressed down (and held down) to change the combo. Basically you are "holding" the part of the lock that says "open" in place while moving the number dials to a new position. If you look at the hasp you will see a little notch and groove that lines up at 90 degrees (quarter turn). This lets the hasp be pressed down further than "normal". So, line that up, press the hasp down (you will feel a spring pushing it back up.) Hold that and turn the numbers. Easy as pie. (I thought to give this only 4 stars and not 5 because it is just a simple lock. Then I thought about the price and what this is made to do. Given that... I can't find any fault, so I have to go with 5.)

This is an excellent lock for anyone looking for something sturdy and reliable, and also simple to maneuver. It is a lot heavier than I expected, which is a good thing in my case - good quality! I didn't want the circular combination type because (a) they can be finicky, (b) you can't unlock them in the dark, and (c) you usually can't reset the combination and you're stuck with what was set for you by the manufacturer. Setting the combination on this lock is very simple and quick, as the instructions are clear and short. You can always reset it again and again, if you choose. I like to be able to leave it at 0-0-0-0 and then I can open the lock even in the dark just by "feeling" the clicks towards my combination. The lock immediately and softly/smoothly releases on its own (no pulling necessary) when you get to your combination. The price is great (I was lucky to get it at $7), delivery quick, and the product does exactly what it should.
