Great bulb for my turltles!
I prefer to purchase name brand light bulbs as I've heard of reptiles getting some pretty severe burns from damaging UVA/UVB rays from off brand light bulbs. This bulb (from Exo Terra) is high quality and I haven't had any problems with it at all. Recommended.

Perfect for whites tree frogs!
I bought this because it was cheaper on amazon than at all the local pet stores. I use it for my dumpy tree frogs. It's perfect. It does not get too hot (it is not a heat lamp) so I don't worry if my frog is on a branch right hear the light. This also seems to last linfer than the heat bulbs I use for my other reptiles. I bought the smaller size because I have a smaller doom fixture and it fits perfectly.

Perfect for chameleons and live plants
I love these lamps, they put out a good amount of visual light with little output of heat. I have purchased 4 of these bulbs and all work great! I have tried the National Geographic UV lamps and they seemed very dull in comparison. I currently use two 26W for a 18x18x24, heavily planted, pygmy chameleon enclosure and it illuminates it very well. (I also use the 13W for a 12x12x18) The light seems to be more of a cool hue, as opposed to yellow. The live plants as well as the chameleons are all thriving. Plus the cost is half of that in the pet stores, which is a plus when then need to be replaced every 6 months. (note that the bulb still works, it is the invisible UV that decreased after 6 months)

the light works great. The turtle can now bask in the proper ...
The little red-eared slider we rescued from being smashed to oblivion on the road, lives the life of Riley. I mean, seriously, a little launch pad that floats on the water of the aquarium is there for his every resting or swimming desire. The special blend of fish and reptile food available for whenever he becomes hungry. The fish that he murders and consumes within days of us buying them, and now, this light. My husband is obsessed with the comfort of others - even a silver dollar sized turtle. Oh yeah, the light works great. The turtle can now bask in the proper light spectrum he needs to avoid acne and bad moods. Or whatever it is that growing turtles need.

Our anole votes daily for this bulb
10 gallon aquarium has a 60W incandescent basking light and this UV light. Both lights have plants under them with leaves at the same height. Our anole is consistently laying under this bulb all spread out like he is enjoying a post-Thanksgiving food coma on the couch. Been in use for about 6 months and has been 100%. Probably time to swap in a new one to keep the UVs potent!

Great bulb
I absolutely love this company and these terrariums! While they can be on the pricier side, they last for a very very long time. This light is great. I use it for my aquatic turtle tank along with a basking light. They are very healthy and I have been using these from the start, so I know they are giving off great rays! Their shells look fantastic and they have huge appetites. I use this on the side of the tank that their ramp is on. I have 3 sliders in a 75 gallon tank in the winter, and because they all get out of the water for a very long time in the one spot, this smaller one is perfect instead of a long fluorescent.

Note that usually only the bad reviews get written.
I feel like the small number of people who have a bad experience with these bulbs are the ones who write a review because... these are lightbulbs. They light things up. Or, in this case, they illuminate a reptile's tank with specific UV rays for their benefit. I've been buying these for years-- at least more than a decade-- and I think I only had one dud bulb out of the dozens I've purchased. They always last about 6 months to a year, and sometimes past that. Never had any shatter, even when spashed with a little water (aquatic turtle tank with a very excited turtle when food is involved). Honestly I'm not sure what else to say. They're the most reliable bulbs I've ever had and, well... they light things up.

Must have bulb for your reptiles
I needed a bulb for my turtles. This light works flawlessly. My babies get their recommended light with this bulb. It only sticks out a little bit from the heat lamp shown. I bought the heat lamp at Lowes for $5 and with this light my turtles are happy.

Lifesaver for Parrots, chickens, etc.
I've had the same one of these for my parrots for several years now, and it keeps them healthy and happy all year long. Just bought another one of these bulbs for my chickens, because they were inexplicably losing weight, and the difference is just amazing. It's like they are young again, more curious and energetic. Sometimes I have to bribe them to get them to even exercise, but now with this UVB, within one month of use, everyone has gained weight, and some of them have even started laying eggs again! If you have any indoor adult bird, this light will help them so much. A 13W one is more than enough for parrots, though, as they will cuddle up right next to it.
