I had to replace the garbage disposal after we noticed there was a HUGE leak under my sink which was identified as coming from a crack in the old garbage disposal by a handyman. We are a household of 3 guys in our twenties so we don't exactly cook often or utilize the kitchen to it's potential. With that being said, we weren't looking for a crazy feature-rich product that was featured on an afternoon talk show, but more so something that stopped the leak, was reliable, and functioned to our needs. We settled for the Waste King because of the price and warranty, and I'm not disappointed. It was easy to install by myself (I'm relatively handy but not the world's best) with the provided instructions and didn't require me to hire anyone. I installed it in about and hour with minimal tools. The ONLY thing that you should be aware of is that if you have a regular porcelain sink you will need Plumber's Putty which is not included. This required me to take a trip to the hardware store which was a little inconvenient but only cost about $3.

After burning up two Badgers in about 3 years through what I would have judged moderate use, I went back to pick up a third and found that they're $100 now. I checked Amazon and found this and decided to give it a try. So far I've noted a lighter, more compact package relative to the same size Badger, and a much better thought out, higher quality assembly for the sink flange and all the connecting parts. First, a rubber gasket is included for stainless sinks to keep you from having to mess with plumber putty. Second, the way everything fits together, with a screw-on support ring rather than Badger's cumbersome metal ring clip, just makes for a smoother, easier installation. The logic behind the entire assembly is a little more complicated but also ultimately more confidence-inspiring. Better yet, the most infuriating design flaw of the Badger is not repeated by the Waste King: the sink stopper doesn't become almost irrevocably stuck if it happens to go in upside down, which it does. I had to keep a pair of pliers handy just to pull the stopper out of the drain when that happened with the Badger. The Waste King's is designed to where that just won't happen. I could understand a company making that mistake as a one off, but Badger has been doing it with every unit they make for at least ten years if not longer, which always really irritated me. At this point all the Waste King has to do is last for a year (or even close to it) and I'll keep buying them. As it happens though, since it seems better made and backs that impression up with double the Badger warranty, I'm guessing it will far outlast a year.

My home: The titan is compatible with the strainer assembly. Titan blades broke and was looking for replacement. I was looking for something better since this is for my own house, but I did have large under mount sink. So I was worried about the weight of the disposer and I do need more space under the sink. This is perfect! Surprisingly, this is pretty quiet and does a great job. I won't hesitate to buy this again. Rental property: Just installed it on my rental to replace badger 444. I was thinking of purchasing another badger but they are expensive and doesn't last. I also have to do extra work to install this because you also have to replace the sink strainer assembly. It comes with this easy install strainer but after testing it, the water leaked from the supplied rubber ring. I took that out and use silicone instead. If you're looking for cheap disposal then buy this. For your home, I recommend the higher end waste king which I have on my house, but for $54 bucks this is a good deal. What's also great is it comes with the power cord, unlike the badger. Note: The metal ring that connects the waste discharge has a larger hole and won't hold straight pipe. I used the old one from the badger and thank goodness that the holes lined up.

I have an old InSinkErator FWD-1, and it started to leak from the bottom. Did my research, and was about to get a Badger 1 from Home Deport, but did don't carry it in-store, and have to wait for 5 day shipment. The only model they had in-store was $84, checked on Amazon, and Waste King L-111 had great reviews, went on Youtube, people just had good things to say about this. Ordered it here, same day (on a Sat) delivery, paid extra $9+, and it was still cheaper than Home Depot. Installation was a breeze, the EZ Mount just pops in without any screws (no 3 bolts). The only issue I had was the disposal connection to the outlet, it was not aligned. I got a couple of 45° elbows, but that did not work out. I realize that by just easing the pipe a little because the Cushion Mount is flexible the pipe would align. See pictures. It's only a day old, I'll update once I've used it more.

I wasn't looking forward to this particular home improvement chore. My old disposal was corroded and leaking - I bought this to replace it, but I was really unsure as to what tools and skills I'd need to install it. Luckily it turned out to be really simple. If you have a stainless steel sink, pretty much the only tool you'll need is a screwdriver, because the product includes a rubber gasket for the drain flange. If you don't have a stainless steel sink, you might need plumbers' putty also. I did the full install with dishwasher hookup and it was really simple, maybe a half hour's work including ripping out the old disposal. I might just have gotten lucky with the positioning of the plumbing, of course :) The unit includes an integral power cord with molded wall plug. (It's not a right angle plug, it's straight-entry - if you've got really constrained space, that might be a consideration).

I must be the least mechanically inclined person that I know. I must also be the only husband on earth whose wife goes out of her way not to make a honey-do list for. I'm great at breaking things and becoming easily frustrated whenever attempting to assemble something, anything. Idiot plugs were created for people just like me. Having said that, the Waste King garbage disposal is the absolute easiest piece of machinery I have ever worked with -- EVER! The EZ-mount system is truly that: easy. The most difficult part about installing this garbage disposal (because, for people like me, there has got to be a difficult part when working with tools) was removing the old unit. I pried and pulled, nearly destroying my kitchen counter and sink. However, using the Waste King instructions as a guideline (a reverse installation, so to speak) allowed me to save the kitchen sink and counter, preventing me and my wife from having to wash dishes in the bath tub (yes, that's happened before, thanks to me). Note: Your old disposal is likely corroded, rusted, dirty, and so on, making it difficult to see the mounting ring, but, trust me, it's there. Finding this little gem will prevent much frustration in removing your old unit and shorten the total installation time significantly. Not seeing this little bugger is what caused me to almost destroy my kitchen. Now, one other thing I must mention, suggest, recommend, especially for those who lack mechanical skill such as myself: READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FIRST! Do as they suggest and become familiar with the product and arrangement of the pieces. This was essential to the ease of the process. If you do this, you will likely experience the same pleasure and gratitude that I experienced while successfully completing the installation. By the way, the whole process took me about an hour and a half. That includes reading the instructions and removal of the old disposal, which, I must admit, took the majority of the time (remember, I almost destroyed the kitchen removing the old one). Actual installment of the Waste King took about, uhhh, I'd say, 10-15 minutes (if that). And, the Waste King is much less expensive and quieter than my old brand (the brand sold in those home improvement stores. Humph!). Thank you, Waste King, for making life easy for people like myself, people who lack mechanical ability. And thank you, Amazon (I have Prime; you should too), for an efficient delivery and ordering system.

I replaced an aging Insinkerator Badger 1/2hp that had a direct power cable. The neck between it and the Legend here are not compatible so I would rate the procedure to replace as moderate. It took me over an hour to connect the neck but found that was my mistake. I made matters worse by not paying strict attention to the instructions which cautions to LOOK at the already assembled neck assembly. You think you are reassembling by go past the actual ring and I found a humbling YouTube video that a DIYer shows this error. I think many reviews here reflect that others have done the same. Had I read and believed the instructions I would have had it installed in 30 minutes. The 1/3 hp is plenty powerful for all of the food I've thrown at it. I think the size is just right and at that power, is inherently more quiet than other units that need additional shielding and baffles to keep their larger motors quiet

WOW, I am extremely impressed with the Waste King L-111 garbage disposer. My old garbage disposal was some generic brand that came with the house. As you can see from the pictures below, it is in the one in the garbage can. First off, I must commend Waste King on making this an easy to install garbage disposal. I actually made a mistake by not putting enough plumbers putty around the drain and had some water leaking during my trial run, but was able to quickly remove the garbage disposal and re putty the drain within 5 minutes! Anyone can install this garbage disposal so do not hesitate on the purchase due to fear of the install process! I was not sure if I should purchase the 1/3 or 1/2 horsepower model since they were not too far off in price. I read that the 1/3 hp models are quieter and in my household, we do not use the garbage disposal as a main form of disposing garbage so I went with the Waste King Legend Series L-111 model. I must say, this thing is extremely quiet, whereas, my old disposal sounded like a turbine was starting up when running. If your family uses your disposal heavily, I would recommend the 1/2 hp model (preferably the L-1001 model). Lastly, with the exception of the plumbers putty and regular household tools, everything is included to perform the install with this purchase. The new drain, elbow flange, stopper, sink flange, rubber gasket(for use with stainless steel sinks), splash guard, and power cord! I noticed some disposal units do not include a power cord, so I was extremely happy that the cord was included! Overall, I am extremely happy with this garbage disposal. Only time will tell if it is durable and will provide updates, but for now, I am glad I went with Waste King!

Most people will never buy more than one or maybe two garbage disposals ever unless they own multiple homes or move a lot and even then a garbage disposal probably comes under the category of if it’s not broke why fix it. I’ve already exceeded my quota, this is my third. The one before was a top of the line and it didn’t work enough better or quieter to justify the premium price. And fancy stainless steel finishes, they don’t do a thing to make a disposal work any better. This time I decided to go basic for a rental property I just bought that wasn’t equipped with a disposal, although the power plug was in place. I knew I would have to get a few extra parts, based on previous experience, because I wasn’t replacing anything that was already installed. So I was surprised that for once I didn’t have to buy any additional part and I had this thing installed in less than a half hour. I am as concerned about excessive noise as the next person but I also understand that there are two facts concerning disposals. One is that the motor noise when it’s not grinding is very brief, I can’t remember ever having one on for more than 10 or 15 seconds. And as far as the noise when it is actually grinding, no matter what brand or model you get there’s always going to be some noise, that’s because it’s doing its job. If that concerns you place the stopper into position before starting the motor. I was surprised that as basic as this model is it’s actually quieter than any disposer I’ve ever owned. I think that’s due to the smaller horsepower motor itself making less noise. Speaking of horsepower, I believe for everyday dinner scraps one-third horsepower is all anyone needs. Larger families and those who do a lot of cooking (and hence have a lot of waste) might benefit from a slightly larger motor but to pay 3x – 5 x more for a highly powered unit probably isn’t necessary. Based on cost of purchase, ease of installation, quietness in operation and sufficient power to do the job I’m impressed and happy with this model.

Our (same exact model) garbage disposal lasted a year and a half before it went out (started leaking out the bottom). It has a 2 year warranty so I called Waste King and they asked me to find the model number on it (fyi it is still attached to the sink) so I look all over it and see a sticker with the serial number on it but don't think I see the model number anyway the customer service representative sits on the phone not saying a word as I search and keep him updated finally I say I do not see the model number but I can send you a picture of this sticker, all sides of the unit, my receipt from amazon, anything you need and he says if you can't tell me the model number then I can't help you. WORST customer service on the planet from Waste Kink! I called Amazon customer service and they sent me a new one and I received it the next day. Amazon has the best customer service on the planet and I shop amazon almost exclusively for that reason.
