I have been using this self-lighting, adjustable propane torch head for several years to fill cracks in my asphalt driveway with Dalton Enterprises 35099 PLI-STIX 30 Ft. Asphalt and Concrete Crack Filler. Before this head I used the standard fan head that came with my inexpensive torch kit. The difference is like night and day. The flame is completely adjustable. Once you get the flame size and heat where you want it, you can just press and hold the yellow on/off knob w/o pressing the silver "constant-on" button. This lets you turn the flame on and off with one hand, and keep it on for short periods while you heat the crack filler. If you develop a deft touch you can even hold the filler four to six inches above a crack, aim the flame at the tip of the filler, and develop a constant melted drip line of filler to seal narrow cracks or repair holes that have opened up in larger cracks you filled in previous years. For large cracks you just cut off pieces of the filler and lay them in or over the cracks, then carefully heat the material so it melts in a shiny puddle. Don't over heat your asphalt or it will melt and make the crack even bigger. I highly recommend this product!

Well, I mainly got this for sous vide, but I have been using it on anything that I can. Melting butter, toasting bread, finishing eggs, and finally sous vide. It works fantastically and puts out a nice flame. I've only used it with the large green propane camp gas canisters so far and it's performed well. I like that I have fuel options though should I need an alternative. A plus of using the camp gas is that they heavy base allows me to just stand the whole unit up for storage, rather than taking it apart or laying it down somewhere. I'm sure I will find some other uses for this torch in the garage/workshop as well.

This is replacing another brand of propane torch that I had used for the last 5 years. Pulled it out of the box and snagged the tip on something and it shattered the plastic case. That is exactly why this product is getting a 5 star rating: it's cast aluminum and feels substantial and well made in your hand. The torch tip is made from thicker steel than the last one I had so I know I can knock it over and not worry about it. The igniter is easier to pull, and the knob for the gas flow has a good action to it. Holding this tool in my hand, I can easily see how some of these Amazon reviewers are saying that their old Bernzomatic torches lasted 40+ years!

Disappointing! It takes between 3 and 15 clicks of the igniter to get this thing to light. I assumed that at this price it would be a good item and work as advertised, but apparently not. If you buy this expecting it to work well you will be disappointed. Now its a month later and it takes 20 to 30 clicks to get it to light. This thing is about worthless!! OK, huge change of opinion! I could not fathom how so many reviews loved this and I did not. So I decided to return it and Amazon offered to send a replacement. Seemed prudent to try this and apparently I got a bad one. This can happen in any product line, no matter how good they generally are. Now my new one lights the first or second time every time. I am happy, and Amazon was super helpful in fixing the problem. Thanks Amazon and thanks to the Bernzomatic company.

This torch works well on it's own, sears my sous vide meat wonderfully. I also use it to start my chimney starter when tailgating. Advice, don't bother with the Searzall... this bad boy will do the trick and won't leave any smells.

Coming from a plumber that uses this daily I'm here to tell u this is my favorite torch I've ever owned. The flame is more equivalent to that from an acetylene tank but is not such a big flame that is uncontrollable. The great advantage this torch has is the adjustment knob on the back which means u can push the button to keep it running without holding the trigger then adjust the knob on the back to get the desired flame u need for that particular application. This exact same torch at my local Fergusons is currently selling for 100 bucks and that is in central kentucky. The only issue I've found is when soildering close to a wall it's not the swivel head but a trick I've found is to place a 1/2" copper 90 on the end of the torch head and u can aim the flame away from the wall without issue. Coming from a plumber who has 20 years in the trade this is my favorite torch I've ever owned. FYI it works better with map gas compared to propane but works with both. Don't hesitate plumbers this is your guy and had a very solid build.

I ordered this torch specifically for searing meat for sous-vide cooking but have ended up using it for everything. It’s great for any cooking applications, starting campfires and wood stoves, soldering piping, and lighting fireworks. It starts on the first trigger pull every time and the flame adjustment is precise. It also works with multiple fuels. It can burn much hotter than any other cooking or blowtorch I’ve ever used. I’ve very happy with it. Pros: Incredibly hot flame for searing food Multi fuel compatible Cons: None yet

This is the second Bernzomatic torch of this style that I've owned. This newer model puts out much more heat than my first one. If you ever own a swirl flame style torch you'll never go back to the pencil tip. You can turn down the valve so that you can still get a pencil tip, but you can turn it up for some serious heating and brazing. If you try this with the cheap torches, you'll blow out the flame well before you get a flame like this. There have been a number of critical reviews on it not lighting easily. There is a technique whereby you partially pull the trigger until the gas is flowing and then pull it the rest of the way to ignite the gas. A quick pull will create a spark before the gas is flowing and not light the first try. One more nice characteristic is that this torch will light whether you have it set at a small flame or turned up hot. Traditional torches always have to be turned down for them to light.

Great quality!!!! This thing weight over 1 lb. When you hold it in your hand, you know it is heavy duty.

My old torch was a torch with an extension hose and shut-off valve, and; It requires an old-fashioned flint striker, I’ve been happy with it up until now. I ran out of MAPP gas mid project and borrowed a friend’s torch which happened to be the TS8000. Once I fired it up, I knew my old torch days were numbers. My old torch required me to open the valve, light the torch and then reach down when done to shut it off. That’s usually fine, but there are time when you want to move something or pull out some more solder and all the time you have to deal with the lite torch in your hand ….. no more! The instant-on and off of this torch is awesome! And the flame burns SO much hotter than my previous torch; you can sweat a joint in a fraction of the time. So it faster, safer and more convenient; what more can you ask for? If you are looking for the best torch, just get this one, you will not be disappointed. I recommend an extension hose and shut off valve, to make this the ultimate combination. I chose one like this: WORTHINGTON CYLINDER 309336 Series Extension Hose Kit for MapPro & Propane Torches
