It’s a keeper.

Never paid this much for a garbage can but have no regrets. Works perfectly for my household. I live alone and most of my trash gets recycled so I use the larger bin for recycling and the small bin for garbage. Item arrived in perfect condition. Have had for several months now, no issues to date. Love being able to open the lid hands free, soft close feature a wonderful bonus.

worth it

I had been living with two $10 trash cans in my kitchen, one for trash and the other for recycling. So working myself up to this purchase took a lot. I'm not sorry I took the plunge. This looks 1000% times better. Getting the bags in and out is easy. I use the larger side for recycling and I dump that less than once a week. The smaller side fills up with trash pretty quickly, but not before I should dump it due to odor anyway. My only complaint is that the non-transparent bags for the smaller side that come with the unit aren't available for purchase. That's weird, but I live with the see-through bags for my trash. And those aren't too pricey when purchased in bulk via amazon.

*Almost* Perfect

This garbage can is almost perfect! Sturdy, the bins are easy to remove and replace, there is a lid lock, and I'd say while spendy, still worth the money. My two tiny complaints about this product are that I wish I didn't have to be stuck buying custom-size bags (I knew this would be a peeve of mine when I bought the garbage can) and I wish the lid stuck out from the can by a teeny bit because sometimes I prefer to just lift the lid as opposed to using the step. Not a big deal. Throwing stuff in the trash has never been such a joy.

worth it for sure

just received this and really love it. the two different sized sides is really great since i usually have more recycleables than trash. i chose the black lid and am very happy i did. stainless steel shows a lot of marks from grease. if the lid was metal, i'd be cleaning it constantly. i need to find a way to clean the sides better and keep them streak free.

Pricey but worth the money!

This is a nicely built bin. Easy to clean. The trash bin seems small but is long. For the amount of trash I dispose of, it's perfect for me. It provides sample bags which was a plus. There is also a small latch that keeps the lid open. Overall I am extremely happy with my purchase.

Well constructed and streamlined garbage can.

I put the time in doing my homework on spending this amount of money on a kitchen garbage can. After reading other reviews on cheaper models I decided to bite the bullet and go for it. It arrived yeasterday and I am impressed with the compact design and streamlined look. The lid opens and closes quietly and does not hit the wall . The only negative is the side for regular garbage is small but I always have more recycling than regular trash anyway. This can will last for years and it’s worth the extra $$.

Extraordinary attention to detail, very high quality

You quickly realize, the culture at this company is to pay attention to detail and assure high quality. While each item seems minor, it all adds up: shipping box with full graphics, great packaging material, lid can be left open or allowed to close with foot pedal (I prefer it open for quick access and reduce odors), your choice of stainless or plastic lid (I preferred black plastic in order to avoid finger prints and assure durability), holes at the top of each of the two bins to better secure the liners, holes at the bottom of each of the two bins to allow air flow, small stickers aside each bin with the Simple Human bag size for that bin, and on and on. I added to the inside of the open lid stickers I separately purchased from Amazon to show which side is for Trash and which is for Recycle, for the benefit of visitors. Like others, I find that the 30-inch kitchen trash bags from club stores work fine in both bins, although I also sometimes use the bags Simple Human makes for these purposes. Highly recommend.

Shhhh... It'll be our secret...

Perhaps my darkest secret is the fact that I paid this much for a garbage can. What does that say about me as a person? While I have no terrifying deeds in my past, the fact that I would pay this much for a garbage can, means my judgement is probably questionable. WHATEVER! This can is absolutely amazing! It's a smooth operator that puts my old rubbermaid to shame. I feed it mostly recyclables, and the smaller trash compartment is perfect for us and our small space. While the manufacturer recommends using their bags, I can't justify the cost. I know, "you already spent a million dollars on the can", but I may be crazy, but I'm no lunatic. Costco 13 gallon bags work just fine. Alright, I want to be honest with you... I used a $100 dollar gift card that I got for my 40th birthday from my mother. There, I said it. Do I feel better? Not really. You know you are old when use a gift card on a garbage can. PRIORITIES!

Perfect sized refuse and recycling containers!

Perfect size that I was looking for. The other receptacles had too large of containers for both refuse and recycle. I was in search for months both in store and online as I am just that particular. Finally, I found this gem that had a decent sized refuse container (30L) and a smaller recycling bin (16L) totaling 46L combined sized. It's a bit pricey I must say, however it looks great in the kitchen and is exactly what I was in search for! Great job simplehuman!

Simple, classy and functional

This was EXACTLY what I was looking for. My kitchen is small so my trashcan was going to be visible. This is the perfect size and it looks classy. At first, I was worried that the garbage side would be too small but that hasn't been the case. I use the recyclable side the most and it is the larger of the two sides, so it works out great. I did not want an electronic gadget so I didn't get the kind that has a sensor. I know people with that kind of trashcan and the sensors seem to wear out. This is simple and functional and I am very happy with my purchase. It might be too small for a big family but it is perfect for my small one.
