Great cleaver for daily, not too heavy duty use
Meat cleavers are an essential part of my cooking process and this cleaver is great for simple and light uses. I wouldn't try and hack through anything too tough with it though, as I feel like it will likely chip. I use this cleaver daily to cut meats and vegetables and it has not worn down at all since my purchase in June. I did spend a good deal of time hacking through chicken drumsticks one night, and found it to be a bit difficult. It took multiple swings to get through the bones and I was afraid of damaging the cleaver. The blade turned out fine, but this is the reason I caution against heavy duty use (despite the product being labeled a "heavy duty cleaver"). For this price, this is a great cleaver. The handle is heavy, smooth, and easy to grip. The blade feels heavy and has not rusted at all throughout the months. It's cut through many large fruits such as watermelons and pineapples with ease. I have not tried cracking coconuts or the like with the cleaver, and again would strongly caution against it. I would say this is fairly high quality, as long as you don't abuse it too much, and I am happy with my purchase.

Fantastic sharp cleaver, excellent quality
Very pleased. This cleaver is all it appears to be, and is described as. It is substantial, heavy, sharp, and works great for a multitude of kitchen tasks. It is large enough to scrape up chopped items, it can press garlic, it slices and chops so easily using the weight if the blade. It can score, using the tip. It can thinnly items slice sideways such as buterfyling chicken or a piece of meat. The base of the handle can be used to 'soften' as a tenderizer.

Does what it suppose too
For the price... this is in my opinion, a pretty good meat cleaver... I have used this several times already, and I have no problem so far with the handle coming loose or not being sharp enough... I know I have not been using this for years, but I sure hope it stands up to the challenges. This works great for cutting whole chicken into parts, and for chopping and cutting up rib tips... excellent cleaver!!!. It also slices into meats like a knife pretty good. It works real good chopping through bones from chicken, ribs and other smaller boned meats... but I am not to sure about thicker bones like hog heads etc. So I wouldn't keep trying this on bigger bones because you probably would have problems with the handle working loose after time, I think you would need a more heavy duty bone & meat cleaver... But for what I use this for, The weight is pretty sturdy and heavy just enough. I Highly recommend this. Update: After using for a while now... and I do use it often... I bought another one... can't beat the price for how it handles and what it does... very satisfied.

BAM! now this is a cleaver!
This is nice a heavy, you can chop though a chicken or though ribs, no problem, however since I have not had a proper kitchen cleaver in a while, I forgot a few things, which may help you: ... remember a few decades ago when all the cutting boards were made of thick wood.... yeah you need one of those. I broke two of those plastic/PVC cutting boards. You forget that if you really slam the cleaver though the meat, you will hit what ever the meat is on, so if you want to wail on it, get a thick wooden board, or just dial your strength back and take two of three lighter swings at the chicken to make it sumit to your quartering. ... remember what we did before knifes had a "lifetime blade"?... or perhaps you dont notice that most all knifes have a warenty to keep their sharpness for life? well, this does not. The blade may need sharpening, after all the whacking it will go though, and all the cutting boards you will hit, the blade will dull. re-sharpen it, there are sharpeners on the back of some electric can openers (really, you should look at yours) or they are a few bucks to get a manual one at walmart. I do not use this every day, maybe once a month, I have had it for a few months, no rust, no problems (except for the broken cutting boards, which I blame myself), I like it.

So far so good
So far so good. I've used this a handful of times so far to chop duck, chicken, turkey, and rabbit meat for my cats. Sharp and easy to use. That said, other reviews seem to talk about how it will only last so long before it starts breaking down so I'll update my review if and when that happens. If no updates all is going well.

love it... love it.. love it.. every household should have one... send some as gifts!
every home should not go without one.. for $9 shipped to my door fast was a heck of a deal.. i have been using it for over a month about 3-4 times a week.. slicing capability is amazing.. just got done with a couple of quarter legs right now for stew.. WOW! less mess around the kitchen as it cuts in one blow... before i had to do two or three blows to get thru.. and you get juice, grease, and blood all over the counter and your clothes... i am still awed and happy with the purchase.. forgot to mention that as of the first day i bought the product, i will need a good cutting board.. the first time i used this on leg quaters i sliced thru the qtr leg and thru the plastic cutting board.. it took me 3x to get to know that this is not an ordinary knife which i was so used too and was delivering force with the same amount of blows.. now my board is in pieces.. any cutting board suggestions?? has no signs of rust.. at ALL!

I can't believe this thing is only 11 bucks
Could not love this thing any more. The weight is perfect - only as heavy as it needs to be, but light enough that I use it for onions, tomatoes, and most other fruit & veg, almost the way I've seen a "Japanese vegetable knife" used...the straight-down motion is so satisfying, esp. since it came out of the package extremely sharp. Also works great for push cuts, rocking over leafy things like a mezzaluna, and it indexes well enough that I have used the tip for occasional precise tasks. It has fully joined the rotation with my Victorinox Chef Knife, which costs around 3x as much. Bonus points also because it makes a pretty good bench-scraper substitute!

You Can't Live without this Knife!
I slice tomatoes so thin you can read through them with this thing! Comes with a great edge that just needs an occasional honing. I use it for everything, including buttering toast. This is a perfect kitchen tool

If the worst punishment you give this cleaver is fowl bones
Heavy duty cleaver is what the name says and that is what you will get. Well built and if used as a meat cleaver (not a BIG bone saw) it should last a long time. If the worst punishment you give this cleaver is fowl bones, it will last you forever with simply keeping the edge honed. I butcher whole hogs, goats, and deer and a cleaver is used as a tool for specific tasks. This cleaver will do those tasks with no problem, but you should expect as with any blade that gets that kind of workout to have to maintain the edge with a stone and hone that edge with a steel. This is what it is advertised to be and I recommend this product.
