I bought a dozen of these 25-30 years ago. Two years ago I began looking for replacements as the glasses had become etched—the result, I assumed from a poorly functioning dishwasher: water too or not sufficiently hot? or wrong detergent? differing minerals in water due to changes in geographic location? But I have loved these nearly indestructible glasses, though over the years I have thrown out the more severly etched ones. Having read these reviews, I decided to weigh-in. The new glasses arrived today individually wrapped in bubble wrap and placed snugly in a box placed within another box a bit larger than the snug one, I assume to absorb brute force. The result is totally perfect glasses. I notice that these glasses are minutely less narrow at the bottom and seem more likely to become wedged together if stacked. The old glasses have been easy to stack and are easily separated. I can't remember if they were harder to separate years ago. The new glasses feel a bit heavier. Weighing with my electronic kitchen scale confirms it. The five old glasses range from 14.4–14.7 ounces. The six new glasses weight 15.2-15.3 ounces. I am mystified how such heavy weight glasses could be broken in transit, and would expect them to be replaced gratis. Amazon has been excellent in satisfactorily resolving such issues—and they effectively communicate with delivery companies which have not performed adequately, resulting In improved service. I took the time to measure how much water these 16-7/8 oz tumblers hold. The first photo shows 16 ounces in the glass, by volume. Again using my kitchen scale set to weigh water, filling the glass to just under over-flowing, held 16.3 ounces by weight. I also took a photo of one of the old glasses that, though serviceable, is etched, and will be thrown.

I passed these by a few years ago when shopping for new glasses. Instead I wasted my money on what I thought were good glasses at a speciality home store in the mall. Big mistake, those other glasses were scratched and cloudy in no time, I couldn't stand the look any more and decided to once again find new glasses and these are a wow, cant believe drinking glasses could be so nice . They not only stay cloud and scratch free but they feel great in the hand. They are a classic and have been around forever for a reason. Highly recommend.

Don't want to jinx myself, but so far these are toddler-proof! I got this set to go with our full-sized versions since the Montessori approach for real cutlery/dishes appeals to us. My two year old seems to manage open cups better when he can see the contents and isn't distracted by fun character prints on the sides of cups. We've had these for months and they have been durable, through daily use, dishwasher cycles, and even a few tumbles on to hardwood floors from the table. They look and feel nice too!

This line of casual glassware is definitely superior to others I’ve had on my kitchen shelf over the years. The glass has a very smooth-feeling surface that is somehow easier to grip and hold onto. They look a little thicker, and feel a lot sturdier, than typical glassware. And the designs are charming. The pattern I have is reminiscent of soda shop drinkware — a pretty outline inbued with the nostalgia of mid-century. If I’m not mistaken, this company has been producing strong, gracefully designed products for a long time — my grandmother had some in the ‘60’s, and they’re still around. Finally, I can’t help but point out that they have the added cachet of being French, which in my opinion is ALWAYS a good thing! I highly recommend.

I got these glasses in the 3-1/8 oz. and the 7-3/4 oz. sizes 7 years ago. The still look great, however, there is some mild etching from stacking. We use Biokleen dish detergent and occasionally run white vinegar or lye through the dishwasher when the dishes in general start looking cloudy. The only Duralex we've had break is the one that my son dropped today in the driveway to test for strength. It bounced twice on concrete before it broke into large easy to clean pieces. My oldest child has been using these since he was a year old so I can say that dropping from normal use on indoor surfaces did not break the glasses.

These glasses are stylish (in the Museum of Modern Art), stackable, and durable. In comparison, our prior Luminarc glasses are much less durable and are not stackable. I would say the Luminarcs are a bit less stylish; others might call it a draw. Anyway, after several Luiminarc's broke, I went on a hunt for a better everyday glass and found these. Have dropped them in the sink without shattering. When I tripped and tried to break my fall, have accidentally hit the lower part of one somewhat hard against the edge of our granite countertop -- I was surprised the glass did not break. Have bought some on Amazon and some at Williams Sonoma.

If there's an object in my home that I use every day, I tend to choose that item carefully. But for some reason, I never chose drinking glasses with such discernment ... until now. I saw these glasses recommended in a trustworthy publication, and I was wondering what all the fuss was about. I decided to order the largest Duralex Picardie tumblers and find out. Over the past two months, I have been surprised at how wonderful they are, and what a difference they've made in my quality of life. I hadn't realized that I had been drinking out of cheap copies of this particular design for all my life. But the subtle difference between those knockoffs and these classic tumblers was significantly noticeable with daily use. The delicate rise in the beltline of these glasses -- a feature that's absent in the cheap knockoffs -- gives my fingers an inviting place to hold onto. The slightly flared lip at the top allows a more pleasing interface between glass and mouth. The feel of the glass itself is smoother and easier to grip than any other I've encountered. And the feeling of bulletproof durability is unmistakeable (even though I'm sure these tumblers are not bulletproof). The result? A delightful, profoundly different experience while drinking liquids that affects me multiple times every day. It's hard for me to believe that a mere piece of glassware could be so pleasant, but there it is. I can't recommend these glasses enough. They're a delight to have and to hold and they've genuinely improved my life by a tiny, yet persistent degree.

I originally bought a set of 12 of these back in 2014ish. After another set/brand of glasses l received from Macy's broke within a few years, l needed a more durable set of glasses. So l searched and found these online reading good reviews of their durability. They weren't kidding! While l havent dropped one yet, they havent chipped or cracked yet. I liked these so much l bought another set just to have more on hand since we rent a room and need more to go between 3 adults vs. 2. We are very hard on glasses/dishware. They are often dropped into the sink and so the fact that we have had no damage at all speaks for itself. Very happy with this purchase, well worth the money!

You can't go wrong with Duralex Picardie glasses. They have a timeless style, are comfortable to hold and drink from, and are virtually unbreakable. I've accidentally dropped one off of a porch, and it hit the bricks 12 feet below without even a scratch or chip. They can go in the dishwater, microwave, fridge, and even freezer without any problems. They stack nicely, have enough weight to not tip easily, but don't feel too heavy to hold. Both my wife and I grew up with these glasses in our childhood homes, so when it came time to purchase glassware together, getting Picardie was a no-brainer. We own the 8.75oz, 12oz, and 16oz glasses. We'll use the 8 3/4 for our morning milk or OJ, and we use the 16oz for smoothies, but these 12oz versions get used for everything else. They're the perfect size for a glass of water or holding an 8oz can of soda (you only want to fill them to about 2/3 of their rated capacity to prevent spilling), and we get by far the most use out of them. There's a reason these glasses have been around, essentially unchanged, for almost 90 years. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I purchased these glasses to replace a signature set (6-oz and 12-oz) of La Rochère tumblers embossed with the symbol of l’abeille, (the bee) that endured daily use (and dishwasher) for over 25 years. Just recently, a number of the tumblers began to spontaneously fracture. Although I have loved them, the capacity of the tall tumbler was not ideal and I chose to replace them with these original tempered Picardie glasses (also produced in France). According to the manufacturer, "The Picardie glass is functional yet stylish and feels extremely comfortable in the hand. The tempered glasses are equally suitable for cold or hot drinks, conveniently stackable, microwave, freezer and dishwasher-safe, impact and chip resistant, and the perfect weight." Unfortunately, there was a glitch with my order for 2 sets of 8.75-oz tumblers and 2 sets 17.62-oz tumblers and I received 4 sets of the smaller size. Amazon graciously and promptly refunded me for 2 sets of the smaller tumbler and processed a replacement order for 2 sets the larger tumblers. The smaller tumblers that I received are attractive and functional. As advertised, the tumblers are comfortable to hold and stackable. I cannot comment on durability, but the company has built a reputation on it since 1945 and I am expecting this claim to be true.
