PSP 3000 is the bomb

My son used to own the Nintendo DS and for his 9th birthday he wanted the PSP and what a difference in product. The DS is fun and the dual screen functionality is very impressive but the image, color and game play is just better on the PSP. The flat gray paint scheme while not looking as nice as the piano black screen hides finger prints much better. The screen color and vibrancy is also really good. I watched National Treasure and while it doesn't compare to a 46 inch HDTV the picture quality and clarity were good. My only recommendation is to get a good pair of headphones as the sound on the PSP is tinny and weak. The only other recommendation is to get a larger memory card 4 gigs or 8 becuase as soon as you start downloading games the card gets filled quickly. Overall a very good product.

My son loves this-- and I do too!

My son absolutely loves hand held gaming. He was hooked with the purchase of his very first gameboy. Eventually, we upgraded to the nintendo ds lite which was a huge hit with him-- for about 6 months. Soon after we got the ds lite, he regretted his choice and wanted a PSP. He felt that the available ds game titles were limited, the wifi range, restrictive, and the video graphics... just not good enough. Knowing that the 3000 was going to be released this fall, I waited and got him the PSP 3000 Ratchet and Clank pack for him for Christmas. While we don't have any experience with the difference between the 2000 and the 3000, I can say that he absolutely loves it. It came with 1 game, 1 movie, a memory card, and the charger. The video on this thing is amazing (digital tv quality). He enjoys it immensely and I've even got to have a bit of fun with it too! I'm sure with the long list of available game titles and movies, the PSP 3000 will continue to be one of his favorite gaming systems for a long long time.

Fun filled for my 14 yr old

I bought this for my 14 yr old and he loves it. He put his music on it. He browses the web with it (had to buy a wireless router-no big deal), and it has movies as well as games. He loves it!

Must-Own system!!

I've had this 3000 model for almost five years and still as attached to it as Linus is with his blanket. But, I must say the first one that was sent was defective as I recall the analog control pad kept on "sticking" on me and making strange noises. However, the replacement Amazon sent was just fine. I did own a 1000 black model back in '07. The controls I remember to be even a little better but not much. I don't know how to explain but even though the 3000 is better in every which way than my early model the controls feel just slightly "cheaper." But, thats about it. The UMD cased games/movies you buy I'm not very happy with as they easily dent. I was pretty much freaked when my favorite game Sid Meier's Pirates ended up breaking and wouldn't run right. I thought I'd have to order a replacement game but then found out that there was a place where you can get blank cases for only a few dollars. I did just that and that solved the problem! Needless to say I recommend downloading over buying UMD's when it comes to this platform. The browser is pretty much a joke though. It's slow as a turtle for me and I can't really stay on-line for more than a few minutes at a time. But, it is good if you want to look up something simple like game hints or song lyrics which is what I do. The PSP is still my music player still to this day as I have a stereo connection for it and 70 GB of memory cards altogether. The only thing I don't like is I have a problem creating setlists. Cross-connectivity to PS3 is neat and you can play PS1 games or mini's from there but they usually play choppy so I don't really bother much with it. The game library of this little wonder is where it really shines. It's pretty much like having a portable PS2 in your hands. Now, I've never owned any of the majorly popular Apple products but I cannot see how it could possibly beat Sony when it comes to gaming. Series like God of War, Ratchet and Clank, Metal Gear Solid, Valkyria Chronicles, Littlebigplanet, etc. I just cannot see why some people knock this system and feel it's dead. To me, even though I'm the proud owner of a PS Vita the PSP is still very much alive to me..

Lots to do

No longer need a separate MP3 player or potrable DVD player for the car. This little beauty does it all...not just video games. My son LOVES it and was surprised at how much he actually enjoyed the game that came along with it. System came with National Treasure 2 also and then got an extra game deal with it after Thanksgiving. Woo Hoo!

Great PSP 3000

I just love my PSP 3000, you can't go wrong with this. I have to go to alot of Dr appointments and it is a great size to fit in you purse and have something to do while waiting! Great game, I think you will be very satisfied with this purchase!

Pretty good deal

It took a while but thats probably because i ordered on Friday, but anyways the product was in excellent condition nothing wrong with it and i bought it as a gift and like it more than my psp. The surface feels very clean and smooth and doesn't smug, not a fingerprint magnet, doesn't feel oily so for ppl with oily fingers this would be perfect; tho the downloadable game already expired which isn't much of a big deal the game is only 3 dollars give or take. Overall 4 stars only cuz of the expired game but not much of a big deal since the game itself is cheap.

WOW!!

When I ordered the psp 3000 I did not expect the the graphis to be as good as they are. Some games dont utilize its graphics capabilities as much as others. The load times are quickm 3-5 seconds. Graphics are the main aspect for me in a gaming system. I am very pleased with the psp 3000.
