Wow, I was impressed by both the brightness of the Glow Sticks and how long they last. I have used the Cyalume brand of light stick for years both in the Military and Law Enforcement. Way back then they came individually wrapped in a foil and plastic wrapper and they were expensive. We used both a short burning (30 min.) but very bright light stick and the longer burning (Several hours)light stick. These Lumistick light sticks are every bit as bright and long lasting as the other brands that I have tried. After 24 hours you might not be able to comfortably read a book but they still work well as markers. By attaching the semi expended light sticks to your backside (Helmet, Backpack) you can travel at night and only be seen by those following you. I'm 70 years old and retired so I can only use them for toys and entertainment.

I'll start off by saying the glow sticks I received did not come in a tube but instead a box; not a big deal as all 25 were in the box along with strings to make them into necklaces or hang them. Also the glow sticks have both a small hook and a hole for hanging; basically the ones I received are a cheaper version of Cyalume. All sticks came in good condition, unbroken and un-activated. Now on to the light production. I snapped one of these yesterday at about 3:30pm. In my windowless laundry room, it gave off more than enough light to find everything and read labels of things on the shelves without much hassle. 2 hours later, there was no perceivable dimming of light output. I went to work and came home 11 hours later at 5:00am(13.5 hrs burn time) to find it still glowing bright enough to move around without stubbing toes. It might not have been bright enough to navigate in the woods with except on a cloudy or moonless night, but in a pitch black room it allowed me to read size 12 font with the stick about 10-12 inches above the paper. Fast forward to the time of this review, 6:00pm (26.5 hrs burn time) and the stick still has a small glow to it. No where near enough to navigate or do any serious work with, but glowing nonetheless. I can read the same paper from earlier with the stick about 2-3 inches from the paper. I am honestly pleasantly surprised by these glow sticks. I was expecting a 12hr burn time with about half of that being usable, these more than doubled my expectations. Even now with the faint glow at almost 27hrs since activation, these sticks are still usable to a small extent in limited situations. I would not hesitate to buy these if you don't want to spend $1 a piece for Cyalume brand sticks, I plan on buying a lot more of these.

I bought these to give out at a Christmas-ish party for the school that my daughters go to. My only complaint is that I foolishly did not buy several hundred extras. To my eye, they worked flawlessly. Of the 50 I purchased there were no duds, and the one I saw the next morning still had a tiny bit of glow to it. In addition, not a single one broke open during hours and hours of 2 to 6-year-olds playing with them as roughly as small children can. Do note that the included plastic cords are safety strength; they are intended to be fragile enough has to never pose a choking hazard. This means that your average two or three-year-old can snap them apart with their bare hands with ease. Whether this is a bug or a feature is in the eye of the beholder.

The glow sticks arrived in two boxes with 25 in each box and the boxes were taped together. All glow sticks were in tact and the lanyards were nicely placed within the boxes. The glow sticks were used as a Halloween classroom treat for my children and were transported to school unprotected. None of the glow sticks were activated in transit and held up well. My kids used the glow sticks themselves, blue color, and they illuminated wonderfully. The glow sticks are sturdy, lanyards long and stayed tied. The glow sticks were easy to activate and illuminated for at least 6 hours. Perfect size and great for the price.

After a very extended power outage, I thunk "maybe some glow sticks would be nice". Yes - I have solar lighting, crank lighting, candles, battery stuff galore and am fully prepared. Having a few glow sticks would have been nice. These were the ones I tried first. The price and number of sticks were just right. I tried one just to see how it would work for a night and it lasted perfectly. Even on the second night it could be used as an 'effect' light (not bright enough to do anything with). I especially like the thicker flat bottom that allows it to stand upright. With a 2-year shelf light, one box is perfect for that rare power outage. At the end of two years, I can buy another pack and give these to some kids to play with - a win-win.

I have been getting these for my daughter since she was 6 months old or so. They have strong walls so I was not worried about her biting them and breaking them open. (I still tried to make sure they did not go in her mouth, but there is only so much a parent can do without hovering.) We mostly used them for car rides when it was dark out, or walking home from the park or store in the dark. She would get bored if she just had to sit in the dark (and therefore SCREAM) but with one of these she was very happy the whole ride/walk. Now at age 2 she still loves these glow-sticks! I will sometimes give them to her for longer car rides when she is not ready to nap/sleep, but mostly we just play with them. In the evening I will turn most of the lights off and we will activate a few of them and have fun dancing with glow-sticks. When first activated they are SUPER bright and then dim a bit after 15-30 min. They still stay quite bright for at least a few hours. Her patience runs out long before the glow-stick does.

I bought these as a lightning deal for Halloween. I usually buy the non-premium type at the dollar store or other retailers when on sale. I have to say, these were worth paying a little extra for as these glow-sticks were a lot brighter and lasts a lot longer. I broke our glow-sticks at around 6:30 pm last night and they were still glowing this morning at 6:20 am. That's almost 12 hours of continuous glowing. I do have to say that the glow when initially broken is brightest for about 2 hours and then the remaining glow is consistent but still brighter than the non-premium type that we usually get. If you are getting these for emergencies, pay the extra for the premium type. Here's my breakdown: Pros: * Bright * Glow Lasts Long * Nice Color * Fast Shipping Cons: * A Little More Expensive * There's a Shelf-Life I would recommend this to others and the other one con I find is that it is so fun to use that you might use them for something other than the emergency you need them for. Happy Shopping!

Purchased these to use intact inside a gatorade bottle turned into a firefly, and to cut open to use in fairy jars. Durability: specifically purchase the "premium" lightsticks because I read that sometimes glowsticks will break apart. Had no trouble with these. These are definitely thicker and very sturdy. Glowing power: These are advertised as glowing for 8-10 hours. The ones I received definitely glowed as advertised. We "broke" these lightsticks at about 7:00 p.m. These glowed throughout the night and into the morning. Later, at about 2:30 p.m., I found some in a dark closet and they were still glowing. However, the ones that I cut open to pour into a jar for my fairy jar did not glow as long. When we woke up in the morning, they had already stopped glowing. Colors: I received all 5 colors in my pack. However, they don't look quite as they do in the photo. My blue was more of a purple (which I loved). The green was much more flourescent green. The pink one was a dark fuschia. Overall, I liked these a lot and will definitely purchase these again.

We purchased these glow sticks in 3 colors: red, white & green. The first night we tried out 1 of each color to test brightness and length of glowing time, we were pleased with the length of time (they were glowing brightly after 8+ hours and were still glowing very slightly after 24 hours. No real complaints about the products, but I would recommend the green sticks for brightness & red for marking people or locations, the white are bright, but not quite as bright as the green. The red gives off plenty of light to see at distance, but the red color makes map reading troublesome. I would still recommend these highly for quality and price, we will definitely be buying these again when it's time to restock. Two thumbs up.

Never wrote a review before and probably won't ever again but after what took place tonight I feel compelled to give credit to these silly glow sticks. I'm a novice boater and last week it dawned on me that if somebody was to fall overboard at night there would be no way to find them. On a whim I bought these and as soon as It got dark tonight I cracked one and threw it in the water. We could see it from 100 yards easy and it floated. After that I gave one to everybody onboard and told them to put it in their pocket just in case. Sure as hell my best friend fell off the boat into raritan bay tonight and I screamed to him to crack the stick. I screamed it about ten times as he disappeared into the night and then as he faded away this silly glow stick acted as a beacon and we managed to get him back on the boat. Even with the stick he nearly drowned and I am certain if it wasn't for these silly sticks he wouldn't have made it. This whole ordeal lasted about 4 minutes max and he was absolutely exhausted. I've never seen anything like it. To all boaters, get these sticks and a quick access floatation device. I'm going to track down a glow stick that I can fasten to the flotation device so whoevers in the water can easily see it because in these situations seconds matter. Thank god my buddy is ok.
