My husband's old set of clippers of the exact brand and type had worn out. He told me he had them for over 10 years. We purchased these on Amazon because they had the best price. They are the same from the ones he had before so he's happy. Another thing to note was that he did look into buying another type of clippers from a store but the guards were a cheap plastic. He came back to this kind, because the guards were much sturdier than other kinds.

I purchased this because I like to cut my own hair somewhat short (1/4" and 1/2" guards which it comes with, as well as oil/brush), as well as beard trimming. It is way better than a $10 trimmer I was using. Very quiet, sharp blades, feels like it has a good heavy motor. Used a few times so far, and it never gets hung, cuts very fast. I'll update later on after more uses.

Wow. Just wow.
Where have these been all my life? I’m done wasting my money on cheap $20 pair of clippers. I use them on my beard, chest hair, and stuff. These do the trick. Nice and quiet. And sturdy. These are definitely old school. They come with I think 4 guards and a tube of lubricant. The guards are just ok. Kinda hard to put in and take off. I’ve always used a can of the professional oil/cleaner that the barber uses to spray the blades with. I spray them before I use them and then right before I put them away after brushing them out with an old toothbrush. It pays off in the long run to take care of your things.

Great quality & feels nice for all
This works wonderful! For my family's large hands, this feels nice while in my small hands, it fits well. In other words, the vibration of these clippers in my hands does not make them shake, which is how clippers should feel! Although Oster is a little more spendy than other brands, they last a long time. These give a really fine cut and paired with guide combs, I will definitely use this for a long time. 11-18-18 Update: Still using these for family haircuts & in great condition! 💇♂️💇

Works well, but buy upgraded guides
Since I don't style my hair and cut it short anyway, I decided to learn to cut my own hair instead of going to a barber, overpaying, and rolling the dice on if it even looks decent. I've been using these every couple weeks to look fresh and haven't had any issues with the actual clipper in my year and a half using it. That said, I recommend buying additional guides that will be less flimsy- I bought the "Oster Professional 76926-800 Guide Combs" from Amazon and they've been pretty good. My only problem was a time I was going back and forth in the back and my guide popped off- leaving a very clear void of hair along my neckline that necessitated triage. Pro tip- only push forward, not back. Also these are not great for beard trimming and I'd recommend a dedicated device for that task.

Finally a good quality hair trimmer!
I have been using a hair trimmer for years and I've been through many that did not satisfy me. I've had several Philips and also some other less known brands, but they all inevitably failed. One that I had was cordless and had the obvious issue all battery operated devices have which is that at some point the battery didn't hold the charge any more, and the hair trimmer would start slowing down, not cutting well, etc. Other non-battery hair trimmers would cut well at the beginning, but then they would start malfunctioning and pinching my hair constantly. This Oster trimmer is the first one that not only has worked well for two years, but the first one that I chose to re-buy after I lost the first one moving to a new apartment . It works well, it's powerful and it's not gonna let you down. Thumbs up! UPDATE 9/2/2016: I'm still happy with this trimmer. As another reviewer noted, it is really important to periodically unscrew it and give it a good lubrication. At some point, it was starting to not cut as good. I hadn't oiled it in almost a year, so I unscrewed it, got rid of the hairs jammed inside, gave it a quick oil (using coconut oil) and after reassembling it, it was cutting MUCH better. Just like any mechanical device, it needs to be taken care of periodically. As long as you do, this trimmer will serve you well. 2nd UPDATE 8/12/2017: This hair trimmer is still going strong and I'm still very happy with it! cuts as well as anything and is super easy to break down and clean
After years of buying and throwing away cheap Chinese clippers I decided to do some research and finally buy a decent one. I'm a male who never razor shaves so these are for trimming everything and get used once a week or so. It is significantly quieter than any other I've used, cuts as well as anything and is super easy to break down and clean. The guards that come with it are pretty robust and I can already tell they are helping my beard come out more even. The adjustment lever feels solid as does the on/off switch and the rest of the machine. Im also very pleased it is made in the USA, that was a major selling point. The included tube of oil is about three times larger than any other I've gotten and even the brush seems of higher quality than those provided with previous clippers. I really can't think of anything I don't like about it. Oster made a great product with this one!

Made in the USA - Good Quality - You get what you pay for
Finally! something good enough to replace my 20+ year old conair clippers. I have purchased 2 or 3 other clippers in the past 10 years that couldn't match the quality of my old clippers. These clippers cut quietly, smoothly, and don't leave my scalp red from abrasion. They are just as heavy as my old conair, and seem built to last. They will not do a zero gap (which is not really a problem, but does mean that the blade comb & teeth will not wear evenly) These clippers have 2 fade positions (not as many as my conair, but sufficient). The plastic clips fit snugly, but the teeth on the attachable combs do not align with the blade teeth (lazy design engineering). These clippers do not come with a box or bag. I am very satisfied with the purchase. It is rare to find quality when everything is made to be disposable.

Dont buy cheap Walmart clippers anymore. Step up!
The $20 Wal-Mart Red and Black Andis clippers didn't even last a year before they started getting painfully loud and snagging my hair. These oster fast feeds are far superior and shave like butter. Quiet operation and it has a thick power cord now that is Quality. I bought the white ceramic blade upgrade but haven't installed it yet. The standard setup didn't heat up on me at all. I guess the blade upgrade is recommended for commercial use.
