The Midwest Cages are by far the best cages on the market for Guinea Pigs. I have custom made C&C cages but nothing came close to the convenience and quality as these cages. We will always be Midwest cage owners!

I wanted to review this product as your average everyday pet owner. My kids got two Guinea pigs about 2 months ago and we had them in a large borrowed pet store type cage. They were small at the time and knew this cage would be temporary until we could find a better one. I do not have half a room to make a huge home made cage that many people have done and just wanted something that they could have more room in to move around, exerise and eat. After searching the internet I came across this Midwest cage and knew this was the cage for our pigs. I ordered through Amazon for about half the price($57) of a pet store cage and got it setup. I was so happy to see the size of the cage and knew how much more the pigs would like this cage. It also looks very nice as its not as tall as most pet store cages. I have read through all the 51 reviews on this cage and the other 81 on the expansion cage and want to make sure I put some things to bed. This cage is a sturdy cage. It went together very easily and had it setup in less than 10 minutes with the divider and cover. I did not have to use any other ties other than the ones that came with the product. The velcro was easy to attached the cage also and I don't understand how some people have such a problem putting this together as its very easy. I use a thick towel in one end with bedding for the feeding area and in the other large play area a thick rug and fleece over it. It makes it very easy to clean up poo daily off the fleece. I have an extra fleece, towel and rug to replace every few days while one is in the washer. This saves money on the bedding as I am not buying as much anymore and it also keeps the cage cleaner and smelling better. My pigs love the cage. They were popcorning like crazy nuts when I put them in there. They have so much more room now to roam while in the cage. I ended up having a couple end tables that I put together and covered with a nice table cloth and the cage fit perfect on it. Check the size dimensions before you buy as it is large. The only issue I had was my water bottle did not sit at the level I wanted it to due to the cage bar height, but I rigged something up for it to work. I highly recommend this product as you will not be disappointed.

My piggies (two juveniles) love this. I enjoy the access from above and it is much easier to clean than their previous cage. We use it exclusively with fleece and towels, which works great with the divider in place so they have a feeding area and a play area. I clean the feeding area daily and the full bedding every 2-3 days. Much easier with the sections and the fully open top, so I can clean without disassembling any part of the cage. I still think this is a little small or two adult piggies, if they don't get a good amount of out of cage time daily. Ours spend about 1-2 hours daily loose at a minimum, so they don't seem to be cramped or stir crazy in a single one of these. The short ramps leading up to the doors are nice for our little guys, only one of whom really "gets" the door thing in terms of going in and out of the cage. I do put a small towel over the door to exit the cage for floor time since they have never been on wire and don't like it to touch their feet at all. Overall this works very well for us, and I would totally buy it again. Now some issues: 1) this is truly a modular cage; you cannot pick it up to move it without all the panels shifting about. It's not a big deal since you can readily clean it without moving it.Our family includes large dogs, cats, and kids, so I put this in a corner on the floor (with plenty of snuggle fleece in the bottom to keep them from getting cool on the floor and plan to add extra layers in the cooler months) and I zip-tied the main panel connection and the door we don't use so that it is a bit sturdier if a kid or animal bumps it. 2) The doors open very easily, too easily for our household, and I worried that a cat or dog would nose it and have it open. I fixed this with a small snap to hold it shut. A pipe cleaner as tie works well also. 3) the liner doesn't sit perfectly tightly with all corners, this is not a big deal at all when using fleece and towels, but I bet with paper or other bedding it would not be great. A super nice set-up for less than the price of a tiny pet store cage, but I would not recommend for piggies in homes with other aggressive pets or rough kids that might fall on or throw things on the cage. I am not sure it's take too much abuse on that front. Great for our family. ***additional review after six months of use.*** I love this cage. It's the next best thing to making a huge homemade cage. In fact we recently bought a second one since we added two more piggies to the family. My now adult large boys live very happily together in one cage. They still spend a lot of time out of the cage or I think one would be a bit small. So easy to clean with towels and fleece. When we recently added a new piggy baby, I kept it in a pet store style cage while quarantined, and I was so excited to get the second one of these and set it up since this is so much easier to use.

This is perfect for hedgehogs. Plenty of space for them to have a wheel, potty area, dust bath segment, sleeping quarters and food/water. I have two hedgehogs, but I keep them in seperate cages (males). I recommend one hedgie per cage, though you can use the divider and lock up the ramp. My hedgies seemed to slide down the ramp, so instead of putting something slip resistant down, I just completely removed the divider and this has worked well for each of them.

So this cage is perfect. We have two Guinea pigs and they could not be happier. They have been pop-corning since the moment we got this. This Is huge, easy to clean and can be moved but very gently. We made a table for veggy time and was able to adjust the door to face any way we liked. The ramp was mastered quickly as this was their first ramp experience. The space is perfect for two and the local pet store had this for twice the price as Amazon so very happy I shopped around. Would like another ramp cover so they could go outside but definitely five stars

We've had this habitat for about three months now and must admit I was a bit surprised by some of the negative reviews. Then a quick glimpse at the photo reminded me that I chose to attach the flooring inside the cage rather than the other way around. And by "chose," I mean I was harried and didn't even consider doing it another way. ;) Ignorance aside, attaching the bottom this way has its benefits: - I don't have to remove the canvas bottom to clean it as the bars are all outside of the lining. - There really isn't any way any sort of mold could develop. I can only assume people experiencing mold find it between the wire and wall. We use DIY canvas liners and spray with diluted vinegar (+ wipe) whenever we change them. For a more thorough cleaning, I add a drop of Dawn to the spray bottle, wipe thoroughly, and air dry for a few minutes. No issues whatsoever. - Our daily quick-clean routine (w/ vinegar) only takes a couple of minutes and we have absolutely no staining. - I still run the velcro strips outside the cage -- I really don't see how they could chew them. The connection is also really sturdy. There's no way the wheekers could ever get between the canvas and the walls and said walls are anything but flimsy. - I suspect not stretching the canvas as much makes our seams less vulnerable to leaks. Everything is perfectly contained. I hope this helps! I'll add a photo soon.

Fantastic cage for my hedgehog! Fits perfectly on a 2x4 folding table and has enough room for a large Kaytee igloo, a bendy bridge, Carolina Storm Wheel, felt tunnel, and multiple water/food dishes and misc toys. I did have the take the divider out since my baby hedgehog couldn't figure it out just yet but will add it back in once she's a little older. I have a 100W ZooMed CHE hanging out around the middle of the cage above her primary sleeping area and it does a great job distributing heat throughout the bulk of the cage so don't worry too much about losing heat with the wire sides. (We do have a bamboo screen on one side of the cage to block AC draft but that's mostly because of the room it's in; not everyone will need the setup but it does help to keep heat in with so much of the cage letting air in/out. Speaking of, the wire of the cage walls runs vertically so it's perfect for little hedgehogs and you don't have to worry near as much about them falling down. The two doors open stupidly easy (and silently). You can see it in the photos but there is a simple horizontal bar that you can slide up to let the door fall open. It's high enough that my hedgehog will never be able to reach it as long as there's nothing in front of the door for her to stand on. Each section of the roof simply latches so you can fold the sides back to get things in/out of the cage without any hassle or wire pings from any tension. Seriously, get this cage. Your hedgie will love you for it.

We read up thoroughly on this cage before purchasing, and when we received them and set them up (which was very quick and easy to do!) it was exactly what was expected from the listing! We started out ordering 3 of them, but got a 4th since one of our pigs has a crazy amount of energy and we wanted to make sure that she had enough room to run. We weren't sure about using fleece (thinking that it must smell horribly!), but it's working out wonderfully. We have a layer of puppy training pads on the bottom of the cages with one layer of absorbable fleece on top of that and one more layer of colored fleece (that we sweep up and change every day) on top of that, and we only have to clean the cages thoroughly once a week. Which only takes about 20 minutes to do! The cages are great because you can attached them all together, or keep them separate! My pig, Esther, doesn't get along with the other pigs, but she can still socialize and be close to the others without getting into trouble. The other 4 pigs have three cages that they can run around and pop in, one of which has shavings in it, which is where we put their food hay (it keeps the fleece much cleaner!). All together, we are extremely happy with the cages! They're working out even better than expected and our pigs LOVE them :) I would highly recommend to any pig owners!

I ADORE this cage. My piggies love it and it's simple to clean. I was going to make a c&c cage but this is better. Affordable and well worth the money spent.

This was a lovely cage for my pet rabbit, yes sadly the bottom of the cage can be a bit loose, just be sure to spread it out all the way and attach the velcro straps on nicely. I have a somewhat big Lionhead Rabbit and he has much more room than his original cage, this also takes up a bit of space to be sure to have a section for it to be at. If you have a Guinea Pig then this will be perfect for him, although for rabbit owners be aware that - My rabbit likes to bite the bottom of the cage I've bopped his nose a few times to make him stop, although he only does it when It's time for me to put him back away for the night. - Make sure to have a lot of chew toys for your rabbit. - I'd recommend one side to have a blanket and the other a bit of bedding for a bathroom type setting, If you use a blanket it will be much easier to clean. Overall this was a lovely cage and I am so glad I made this purchase for my rabbit, it's much cheaper and bigger than average sized pet store cages. Your pet deserves a big roomy place for them to stay, this will be lovely for any small indoor pet!
