One of the best things I ever bought. I have a big, 27" shoulder high, 90 lb, puppy, who is now 18 months old, who loves shoes, and other fascinating things. To keep him out of trouble, and save our shoes, we put this gate between the living room and the stairs to the second floor. We stretched the maximum width a little. I have two other dogs, one tall as the young guy and one who is tiny. The big guys have never challenged this gate. It is taller than their eye level. They could easily push it over but they don't even think about it. (The puppy is still crated when we are gone, so no shoe, carpet, or accidental electric cord chewing, no trying the gate.) .I think if it was shorter they could see the way over it and push it over. It would only take a good push. The big dogs are very strong. The gate opens enough for us, two big people,6'5" and 5'7", to get through with no problem. It is by the front door, so no little guy can make a run for it when the door is open. If I need the big "security" dogs to be at the door, they are close enough, barking like they are crazy. The latch is pretty easy if you remember that the red "lock" has to be pulled back to be able to lift the white handle to open the gate. We don't lock it, usually it locks easily. Before I had coffee one morning, I couldn't remember how it works. That was ugly, and funny in retrospect.

I spent a lot of time researching these and many others before I decided to purchase this particular gate. Pay no attention to reviews stating gate has design flaws. They are inaccurate. Gate is designed VERY well. Pros: Easy to assemble. Well made. Closes or locks. Easy to close / easy to lock / easy to open (even with one hand). Comes with extension (no extra charge). Comes with mounting hardware to keep gate from sliding out of doorframe. Easily adjusts to fit just about any doorframe. Heavy, sturdy metal that should provide years of trouble free use. No rough edges. Good paint. Quiet operation. Cons: None that I’ve found. I purchased a grand total of 6 of these and plan to purchase two more to keep my herd of Pomeranians from wandering into rooms where they think they belong but really have no business being in. Out of 6 of these gates you’d think I would have received a broken one, defective one, or possibly even one missing parts but no, all were 100% perfect. My only concern is my smallest Pom “Sugar” can stick her tiny head through the bars so my slightly “tubby” Pom “Cookie” attempts to shove her big head through and I’m afraid she might get stuck but so far that has not happened. This is NOT a design flaw. The gates are excellent quality and were I the manufacturer I wouldn’t change a thing. Highly recommended!

Works well. Keeps all but the bravest (or dumbest) cats from jumping over. Picture of the beast that makes it over.

I will never get rid of this gate. It is the most awesome gate I have ever owned, and I am sad to say that I have owned several makes and models of baby gates. We thought we were through with our baby gate days and had gotten rid of all of them since they are bulky and hard to store. This gate will be very simple to store when we are done with it - it is not thick and will lay flat, so it won't take up much space in a closet. I had this gate out of the box and installed in my doorway (WITH molding at the bottom) in under ten minutes. I did not think pressure mounting would work and knew it could also be installed with hardware. I was delighted to find that the pressure mount worked perfectly and I do not intend to use the hardware (so I cannot attest to the ease of a hardware installation). The gate is attractive and is very easy to open one handed (it is as easy to open and walk through as using a regular door handle). My children (ages 4.5 and 9) have absolutely no problem opening and closing it. There is a feature you can use to lock it, however, that would make it more difficult for children. The gate stands very tall so a toddler would not be able to reach the handle to open it, allowing an older child to go through with ease. Now, a pro in our situation could easily be a con for another family. We bought this gate to keep an older cat out of one side of our house. Every other gate we have had was not a cat deterrent (they could jump it or walk through the bars). In the past, this is what we had wanted (normally no one wants to open a gate for a cat). But with our current situation, this was the only option for keeping our cat out of the rooms we no longer wanted him to use. He is very skinny and cannot fit through the bars. Our younger cat cannot jump it, though she is agile. The only drawback to this gate is that the opening that you walk through is a bit narrow, so it may not be a great fit for everyone. Walking through with a large laundry basket I chose to lift it up and over the gate which was not a problem for me but could be for some. I think you could fairly easily carry a baby through as is shown in the picture. Also, there is a bar that runs the length of the bottom that you can trip on if you are not paying attention.

We have 3 cats who like to roll around in the nursery and get on all the furniture. This is the tallest gate I have found and 2 of 3 cats haven't even attempted to jump it! The 3rd is now trained not to after being removed from the room following a few successful attempts. The gate was super easy to install and isn't a pain to open and close. Update: my son is almost 3 and they cats have yet to be in his room :) Just purchased a second gate for baby #2’s nursery.

I got this gate tonight and though I have not had the chance to use it much and see how it turns out, I know it is going to be a great gate. My hallway is 36 inches and this gate fit very well without the extension. it's sturdy and I love how tall it is so we don't have to bend down to open it. I got this to block off my hallway so my youngest can't get up from his room and wonder the rest of the house before we wake up especially since he's learning to open the front door. Now his only option is to wake up and play in his room or ours because he can't get past the gate! Which he immediately was determined to do. Within minutes of setting this up, he pushed his little car up to the gate to stand on to try reaching the latch. He could not open it. He was hanging on to the gate doing pull ups and swinging (he is 25 lbs and 2 years old) on it, freely trying to open it and he couldn't nor did it knock over! I immediately knew it is going to be a greate gate. The gate is about as tall as my 4-almost 5 year old and she can open it perfectly which is great because she's pretty self sufficient and it's OK for her to wander the house if she needs to or go to bathroom! Anyways, this gate is great.

Sturdy, seems well made. The gaps are small enough that neither the 7lbs female and 9lbs male can fit through (of course the two heavier kitties aren't going to have any luck). It's also tall enough that none of them have thus far accomplished jumping over it (nor have they tried - I think it's tall enough that they don't think it's worth it). It was indeed very easy to install. Note that at first it appears that the gate is not snug enough to close - but the gap closes easily after you mount it (that snugging it on the top sides presses the bar and gate handle together). I tried it on a door frame and it works perfectly. Also be aware that if you snug it too tightly, the gate will be too tight to open. I like also that on the top of the gate (where the handle is for opening) there is a red piece that serves as a lock. It's tall enough that this would no doubt thwart a toddler trying to escape. This was exactly what I needed and I am not disappointed (and I purchased this gate used!)! Gate: 1 Cats: 0

My pup tries to follow me everywhere but I needed to keep him out of the back of the house. He can't fit through the bars on this and it's held up to his jumping. He's a lab Shepard mix so he's got some strength but he's stopped by this gate. It has been a life saver.

We got two of these gates and these are perfect for our needs. We have two Great Dane puppies and we got them to keep them out of our room when we don't want them in there and still see them in the living room. I like that you don't always have to use the red security latch, we don't ha e kids so unless our dogs figure out how to push the handle up it's a lot easier. I also like that the door stays open on its own, so when I want them to have access to our room theh can come back go as they please. Each gate came with an extension but when we tried to install the gate with the extension we had to wedge it in and then the latch didn't work, so we used it without and the pressure mounts are kind of right at the end so the gate moves a little but it's still not going anywhere unless one of our dogs was to really try to plow it over but they aren't forceful with gates/crates. Make sure you measure your door frame to make sure the extensions fits with the gate, when then gate ends are closer to the frame the gate will be sturdier. The minimum width without the extension is 29" and the maximum is 34" (that's what ours is and the pressure mounts definitely couldn't go any farther out). The minimum width with the extension is 35" (but I'd say 36" so that you could tighten the pressure mounts a little and install the cups) and the maximum width is probably about 40-41". The cups were super easy to install. I just drilled a pilot hole and then used the drill to screw them to the frame. This overall a very sturdy baby gate and the extra height is perfect for old kids or kids who are taller, or if you have large dogs or jumpers.

I've only had it up a few days, but so far so good. I purchased this to keep one of my cats out of a specific room that gets too hot when I close the door. I read conflicting reviews about how effective this gate was regarding that, but with free returns I decided to give it a try. I will note that my 9 month old cat is small enough to squeeze through the bars, but my adult cat is not. To deter the smaller one from going through, I use the gate in conjunction with a scat mat on the inside of the door. This has worked wonderfully so far, and he has not bothered to jump it. He's pretty persistent, so I feel like this is a good sign -- will update if that changes!
