Don't think I could love this more
Don't think I could love this more... Seriously, best purchase ever. I have a dog and normally have foster dogs and dog sit as well. With all other baby gates, they can just hop right over it with no problem, even an 8 week old puppy can, and did, jump the gates I had! With this gate, they stay securely behind it and there's nothing they can do about it, haha :) I will say the only thing I wish is that I could get it tighter without screwing it into the wall. It's secure, I just like things to be extra secure. But this is minor since the gate still works great. It has an extender for bigger doorways or hallways or you can use it without the extender, which is nice.

Finally contained my Dachshund!!!
After trying out three different gates and having to return them (sorry Amazon), I finally feel like I have the right gate. Ok so recently we adopted a 7 month dachshund puppy, and of course she loved to chew everything, so leaving her alone in the house was not a possibility. Initially I thought a retractable gate would be nice in the kitchen since it had tile floors and I wasnt worried about anything and also the retractable gate would get out of the way when not in use. However, the first day, she just crawled right under it. Next was a wooden tension gate, but most wooden tension gates have mesh, so she easily climbed over the gate. The third gate was a swinging door gate just like this one, and I was sure that it was the one, however, she managed to jump over it!!! That gate was 32 inches high, and this is a dachshund we are talking about. I was shocked. So finally, after more research I came across this one, and it seemed to tick all the boxes. Looks decent, feels sturdy, easy to use with the tension system and it is up to you if you want to use the cups that you screw into the wall and then the tension bolt goes inside it to make it more sturdy. I saw a lot of people complain about that, but it is just a small screw, I mean I live in a rented apartment, all you need is a little putty, and it will fill the holes. I noticed it did feel a lot more sturdy after using those cups. Anyways, it has been a week now, and I have left my dog about 3-4 times during that time and not once have I come back to see her sitting outside the gate or having pushed the gate or even caused any damage to the gate. And with this height, I am now certain, that she wont be able to jump over it. So for anyone who has small dogs and think they cant jump high, think again. Oh and almost forgot to say that the gaps between each rod is very small, a dachshund has a narrow head, but there is no way her head would ever go through it. Anyways, I have done a lot of research over the past few months so take it from me, this gate is definitely worth it and I am finally at peace.

Perfect for a Husky
I can't say enough about this gate. It has worked out perfectly to contain a very ambitious Husky. The height is 41" and great for larger dogs and when the wall pads are secured to the wall, it is stable enough to not be toppled down. I have mine in a 39" opening. The latch is secure, but watch out for chewers. Mine managed to actually unlock it by chewing on it and let herself out. I since have resorted to other means to insure she doesn't do it again. Would recommend this gate to anyone with a large dog that they need to contain. Would like to able to add a small 6" extension, but haven't been able to find one.

I have 3 large dogs (Husky, Pitbull and Plot Hound) they have their own room in my house and this gate is perfect to keep them in without the door being closed. Very strong as well!

kicking myself for not purchasing sooner!
This BABY gate rocks. It does its job beautifully, and looks nice too. Set up is really easy, just make sure all the sides of where ever your putting the gate are tall enough to hold it! I ordered two and I didn't realize the entrance to our kitchen drops on one side, which made the second one quite difficult to get in place, but that was my error for not noticing before I ordered it, we did make it work tho. Anyway, this gate is great because it's tall, and the "gate" feature uses bars, not inlets or crisscross' s. The small holes and crisscross feature did us no good when we purchased our previous baby gates. They worked until our baby turned toddler and she instantly figured out how to climb it (toes in small holes) and unlock it, rendering our baby gates useless. So we had to purchase these, and I'm so glad we did! Should have purchased these to begin with. Their plenty tall, she can barely reach the top, and she can't climb the bars, exactly what I needed to contain this terror! And I just want to clarify something..This is a baby/toddler gate, designed for CHILDREN 6-36 months of age. I put children in caps because it's a child's gate, not a dog gate. So many reviewers stating "this gate got knocked down by my 45 lb dog" and giving it a bad rating... no sh*t sherlock, it's not for your 45 lb dog, It's for children. If it's not used properly it won't perform properly, keep that in mind. This will forsure hold back a toddler terror or baby, it will not hold back a large dog, at all. Even a medium dog could knock it down with enough force. If your trying to contain your dog get a dog gate or a kennel. They are designed for dogs for a reason. You could get away with this gate if your dog is on the smaller side, but to small they will slip right through the bars. The one handed operation is awesome, and theirs actually a rebound safety lock that locks the handle when you really need to ensure your little stays put, and can no way escape! Peace of mind for mothers and father everywhere. You can finally clean the kitchen properly or sit down and relax..for a minute at least 😜 Update: 06/30/17 Well our toddler is approaching 3, and suprise!!! She figured out how to unlock the gate 😐. But, before I go into detail about that, I need to clarify that the handles on this gate are plastic, and they WILL break if slammed down hard enough. We had both of our handles break, and we had to rig them to work again. Eventually the gate to the kitchen broke all together and we couldn't get it to open properly, I messaged amazon about my disappointment and my urgency for new gates, and they shipped out 2 bran new gates THE MINUTE they received my message, they arrived on my porch the next day, free of charge. Now that is customer service! Now onto the next part. As soon as I got the new baby gate up, our genius toddler figured out how to open them just by watching me set it up! So...what now? I thought. Luckily my husband is a contractor and solved that problem lickety split. He drilled a hole behind the red safety latch, slipped a lock pin in that requires some adult strength to open, and walla, the genius toddler is contained once again!!! I have enclosed a photo of the lock pin my husband installed in the gate. My husband did this, it does not come with this feature or pin. It was all bought separately. To be frank it's 1 step more to getting the gate open and closed, but compared to how many times you will wrangle your little one into the proper room , the lock pin is nothing! Keep all of this in mind. My toddler who is 2 months away from 3 figured this gate out no problem, she has excellent problem solving skills. Parents, if your little one is a mini Einstein, try the pin method. It requires the right size drill bit, the pin bought at a hardware store, and you're done! My 7 year old has trouble popping the pin out, so you know your little isn't going anywhere, ahhh peace once again 😏

Exactly what I hoped for!
Exactly what I hoped for. My toddler can not open it, the cat can fit through but my chihuahua mix can not. I used the provided wall cups and it works wonderfully. It's not the prettiest thing ever but it's effective. The way it installs gives a wide range for how large or small you can make it. I'm not too adept with tools but I installed it fine without help. All it takes is a screwdriver if you want to put the wall cups in, otherwise it doesn't even take that. My kind of install! I had it up and everyone secure within minutes. It took longer to unbox it than it did to install it. I am very pleased with my purchase and I will buy this same model again if I ever need another gate. It was well worth the money.

Almost the perfect gate
We’ve had this gate up for a little over a year now. We moved into a new rental with carpet that we needed to keep our senile and accident-prone cats away from, and we wanted a tall gate that the cats would have a hard time jumping over. This is ~almost~ the perfect gate. You can see in one picture that we had to attach an additional panel (it’s a piece of plastic garden fencing fastened with zip ties) to the gate because the smaller and more determined of the cats figured out how to squeeze through. With this small, slightly ugly addition the gate functions just as we need it to, keeping the cats away from the carpet and the dog where he can’t harass the cats. Neither cat has jumped over it, and the dog hasn’t knocked it over. It’s nice looking and easy to use— just open the door and walk through, you can use it with one hand as long as it isn’t locked. Get used to lifting your laundry baskets and grocery bags a little higher when walking through, that’s really the only inconvenience of this gate.

These are great gates!
We originally bought these gates to keep our cat out of our entryway. They're tall enough that she couldn't jump over them. But she was old, so I can't tell you how a young cat would do. I will say that we just had a friend over recently, and his Chihuahua was able to squeeze through the sides. So be careful about that! Now we use them to keep our son out of the kitchen and stairway. They work great! Easy to use and install. I love that they can be adjusted to fit larger spaces (or smaller). They can also be attached to the wall for further security. The gate is wide enough that larger people can fit through it easily. The lock is also very secure, and most adults even have to ask how it works. There isn't anything I don't like about them. We're very happy with these gates, and we now have my sister thinking of buying some for her pets. A great design, and a great product. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I hope you found this information useful. No worry nap time
I owe an extra 15 minutes of sleep or at least staying in bed to this gate. The first time we tried to have him use a toddler bed he came into the living room over 30 times (we were counting in the beginning). Eventually we shut the door so he couldn't get out. I checked on him before I went to bed and left the door cracked. The next morning I woke up to noise in the kitchen. When I walked in my son was sitting on the table, and it was still dark in the house! We put him back in his crib for a couple more months. We decided that before we tried using the toddler bed again we were going to do something to keep him in his room during nap and bed time. I didn't want him getting out again while we were sleeping and hurting himself. I wanted my son to have some access to us and be able to not be completely closed off from us if he needed us we decided against the doorknob covers and for a baby gate. My son is pretty smart so we decided to get a tall one to ensure he would not open it. I was looking at two brands and I went with this one because it was $10 cheaper but I didn't realize that this one only swung one way. We have it swinging into his room right now but I plan on taking it down and turning the gate the other way. We have been using it for a couple weeks now and sometimes he will still get out of bed and sleep on the floor by the gate. Because it only swings one way we have to open the gate into him and shove him out of the way with the gate door. Once I turn the gate around this shouldn't be a problem. I am amazed at how well the gate stays in place. At first I was afraid my son would shake it down during his attempts to break free. It withstood everything even without us screwing the cups into the wall. I would recommend this to anyone who is having trouble with bed time!

It's nice n tall and sturdy
I bought this to keep my 75lb pit mix upstairs. It's nice n tall and sturdy. He's an escape artist and pretty rough with things so it shows the quality of this gate. At first it's hard to get used to using only one hand to open and close but you do get used to it and it is possible with practice. I would recommend if you do purchase this gate to get safety wall protectors for your walls, it also make it more sturdy in my opinion. I bought mine here also on amazon (darller brand). Overall this is a quality gate and I definitely recommend
