This Cake is REALLY Good. The smell and flavor of the Tortuga Rum alone is divine. Then the Chocolately Rum Cake is absolutely delicious!. My order was mis-routed on the way over here from the East coast to LA in Erlanger KY instead of San Diego where I live and (should've) been a day late but somehow Amazon got it to me on time!. Kept me abreast of their efforts to do so as well. Their logistics concern did a great job with that so I wanted to make sure to give them credit for it. Thanks Amazon!.

I HEAR it's amazing!! In other words I haven't gotten a taste. :-) We are very impressed with Amazon's offering of this cake. I had the Key Lime version shipped to my nephew for his birthday first and then had it shipped to my future son in law's college apartment to arrive on his birthday this week. However, I got the address from his roommate and it was off by a building. I called Amazon and they shipped ANOTHER one to arrive at our home since he would be with us over the weekend and not on campus!! In the meantime the original was shipped to his apartment (only it arrived a day later than his birthday but keep in mind that was MY fault and Amazon still corrected it!!). I can't comment personally on the taste but my son in law is a real coniseuer of good food (hahaha) especially when it relates to chocolate and he says it's AMAZING! He "says" he'll bring some home to us next weekend. We'll see... ;-) Just a caution. Our family is very cautious about alcohol use (typically we only use it for cooking with). I assumed incorrectly that the alcohol in this cake was "cooked out" but it wasn't. :-) Not an issue for us this time but I wanted to warn anyone who may need the info.

Great as a gift!

I bought this as a gift to my mother on her birthday. She loves sweets, and since I have learned that most of the previous gifts I sent her have been re-gifted (clothing, jewelry, and anything of the kind), I figure this is the best I could give to a very wonderful woman who's not wanting. I have never seen the actual product as my mother lives quite far from me, but she just enjoyed it a lot she went out of her way to tell me (her compliments are precious).

Sublime!

I was a bit concerned because the outer package took a bit of a beating as international shipments tend to sometimes. But no worries, this rum cake was packed into three packages: the manufacturer's packaging and two outer packages so the cake was unsullied! Now the taste. First thing I did was take a big whiff of the cake after opening the sealed plastic -wonderful. Then I had a slice. Let me just say I had just walked in the house from work and this slice was like some cake with a lovely glass of a deceptively mild-but-powerful rum. In an instant all was right with the world. I will definitely do this again. I will be gifting friends with their own cakes. BTW the package said "Coffee Rum Cake" so maybe I didn't get the chocolate one, or is this the chocolate one? Well I am not complaining one bit. It was lovely.

If it tastes good enough for Mom and the Wife it must be good. Really 4 1/2 stars.

I took a big chance when I purchased this for my mom. Having prime it arrived in 2 days which was nice because she was in the hospital. I was really surprised when the first things out of her mouth was that it was really moist and tasted great. I bought one for my wife and it arrived in time for Valentines day (yeh, I'm a bit lazy). The first thing she said was it was really moist and it was really good. She also said she could smell the rum in it. Then the big test, I had a piece and it was unanimous. I liked it too and there was a hint of rum flavor. If your expectations are so high you may be let down since it is not necessarily the greatest cake in the world but for a quick gift it worked well. I was surprised at the size however. Know that a pound of moist cake means a smallish cake. If you can live with that go for it. I don't write too many reviews but wanted you to know that If you're in a pinch for a gift, this may do the trick. Good Luck.
