Recommended by daughter's teacher and worked great.
These were recommended by my daughter's preschool teacher to help her hold her pencil correctly. They have worked really well. She specifically recommended them because the part at the top prevents the child from fisting the pencil.

School doesn't seem to be teaching proper grip any more - better do it yourself
My Kindergartner had a weird thumb wrap in her pencil grasp. She knew what a proper finger placement looked like, and could show me, but her "go to" was the weird grasp that she had developed. Just a few months of using these pencil grips, and she the weird thumb thing has almost entirely gone away. Thank you!

Great for grip correction!
My 5 year old had a crossover grip that was easily corrected by this product. We actually bought another product, but found that with this one, it was much easier for him to figure out where his fingers should be placed. He was able to correct his grip in only a couple of weeks and now does not need to use these, therefore I would recommend purchasing the smallest quantity to suit your needs. I read other reviews that said it was difficult to slip the gripper up to sharpen the pencil. We have not had this problem at all. We have also not had any problems with tears, and are very satisfied with this product.

... say that my son's (2nd grade) handwriting looks much better when he uses this grip
I have to say that my son's (2nd grade) handwriting looks much better when he uses this grip. I'm not always sure if he uses it in school because he seems unsure of having a different kind of grip than all of the other students. I debated buying these online because I was really hoping to find them at a store to try but I regret not buying these earlier. I didn't buy the other specialty grips here. My son has used the one's that you can buy a staples or they give them in school and they never seemed to help very much. These are the only grips where I saw a dramatic improvement. Even just a few neater pages has helped to improve his confidence so his writing even improved with out the grip.

Favorite Ones!
These are my favorite trips to use in my first grade classroom. I've used these type before but not from this company. They have an L and an R written on the grip to remind you which way it goes! This has been a life changer for me. The students start figuring it out as well! Love them!

My OT in my school recommended this for our son
My son needed a different pencil grip for his handwriting. My OT in my school recommended this for our son. He uses this daily and they are still holding up. His handwriting has improved and helps him have a better grip on his pencil.

They Work Great But You Have To Stick With It
I bought these for my 4 year-old who is learning how to write. I never learned how to hold a writing utensil properly so I figured it could help me too. They're difficult to get on so a kid probably wouldn't be able to do it by themselves but they definitely don't slide around on the pencil which is nice. It also makes the pencil really bulky for storage so the previous jar of pencils will have to get replaced with a box. My 4 year-old likes them and took to them right away once we figured out which finger goes where, her writing looks pretty much the same as it did before. I have been trying to work with them but my grip is so out of line that my writing looks like a 2 year-olds so it'll take some serious practice to get used to it.

Great for Getting a Correct Grip and Lessening Writing Fatigue
My 8-year-old son struggles with his handwriting. While the problem is not primarily his grip, he does hold his pencil too tightly, as I wanted to find something that would help him be more comfortable with writing. We tried several different grip brands, but these were clearly the best. First, if you are using this grip, you will automatically be holding the pencil correctly; therefore, no more fights with the boy about the pencil grip! Second, the plastic is very squishy, thus encouraging a much more gentle (and less tiring) grasp on the pencil. (The squishy-ness of this grip is truly what sets this grip apart from the others.) Alas, I have not noticed any handwriting improvement, and the boy still complains about handwriting practice as if it were medieval torture. Nevertheless, this grip at least resolves one handwriting issue -- how to hold the pencil.

Super effective
My son has struggled to hold his pencil the correct way since Preschool (he is now in 3rd grade). He started using these at school last year (his teacher provided them for the students) and I purchased these to have at home. After a few months of continual use, he has finally corrected his grip and no longer needs to use them. It has really helped to improve his handwriting and he doesn't fatigue as quickly.

My daughter loves these pencil grips and apparently they have ...
My daughter loves these pencil grips and apparently they have become a huge hit in her classroom. They are not too hard and not too squishy. Since she has started using these grips she no longer complains about her fingers hurting when she writes.
