What that should tell you is that it's a very good "consumer grade" tool
When you look at this press, you think "commercial grade". And it is very sturdily built, but it's also only $72. What that should tell you is that it's a very good "consumer grade" tool. And it should be handled accordingly. Don't smash on the dies like a hydraulic press when you clamp a grommet. I'm not saying the dies are weak. I'm saying don't expect them to be manhandled and last for very long. This is for weekend warrior usage, not daily commercial application. With that in mind, I find it a most excellent tool. I will not pay $400 for a commercial equivalent because I don't have a business need. But I also won't use the $8 hammer applied equivalent because I don't want my weekend warrior projects marred up with a stray swing (which will happen). This is the perfect compromise. I see that some are complaining about breaking dies and incompatibility with "standard" grommets from say Home Depot. You can buy 1000 of each size for $22 on Yescom's website. You may not need a thousand more, but if you want compatibility headaches to vaporize (for all time), there you go. The dies are not separately for sale on their site, but I called in for a special order (though I'm still waiting to hear back). I probably won't ever need them, but I want a backup set just in case. Treating this press as consumer grade and having spares of everything will probably see this tool lasting the rest of my life. Not a bad deal for the coin.

Worked Great Adding Grommets To My Outdoor Movie Screen
Worked great for adding grommets to my outdoor screen. That's all I've done with it so far, but I'm happy I added it to my tools. Punched clean holes and the grommets installed tight.

Solid press, well done.
Quite good for the price, my only concern is that I see no way of ordering additional adapters to accommodate other size grommets. Nice product. Thanks

Absolutely amazing!
I went from the hammer and spike model to using this Yescome 3 Die and noticed the difference was like night and day. The manual cutter and hammer damaged the material, created lose grommets, and took three times as long to work with. This grommet machine (if new out of the box like mine was) came pre-adjusted and allowed me to install grommets with ease and professional looking. The machine self-cuts the material (two layers in my case) with ease and the grommets look professional. Thanks a million to the inventor!

Are you kidding me? This is perfect!
After reading to many reviews on this I was thinking I would be sending it back the day I received it. Let's be real here. Packaging was great, shipping time was as expected. 5 minutes after opening the box I installed the first grommet perfectly. I had installed 70 grommets before I saw the instructions printed on the bag it was wrapped in. EVERY grommet has been perfect. This is not rocket science, just use common sense and get to work. I was adding additional grommets to the valance on the 20 x 30 tarp roof for my tent. I also added the white tape suggested when ordering this tool. Even with the tape on both sides it punched out the hole every time perfectly. If more stars were available I would have rated it higher.

Great Grommet Press!
I bought this for a heavy duty pond liner folded over on the edges. Has some doubt if it could cut through the double thickness of the material. Went on Youtube and watched the video on using this machine to be familiar with how to do everything correctly. This machine cut through the material like butter. I think it might be suitable for leather but don't need it for that. I'd rate it 10 stars if I could. Perfect row of grommets first time.

Did about 50 flawlessly
I was a bit skeptical reading some of the mixed reviews but gave it a try anyway. I added about 50 grommets to 4 canopies to increase the strength of the rope connections and they all worked without a flaw. The material on these canopies are fairly thin. I haven't used on anything that's thick yet.

Great Tool, Works Fabulously, Excellent Purchase
Arrived as expected with directions and all pieces. Only assembly required was the arm to the body (ridiculously easy), and die. Heavy-duty material will keep this tool working forever. Worked beautifully from the first time on and grommets are securely installed. Super happy with this purchase.

Preliminary review
I bought this for use with my leather craft hobby Work. I don’t plan to expect this device to punch the holes. It would simply be easier to prepunch than fight that IMO. Out of the box, inspection is good, seeing no superficial or structural issues my first action was to install the first die my hands found, turned out to be the #2. I cut a piece of cardboard from the box and promptly installed a grommet. Butter. Cardboard is of average weight and it punched and installed the grommet perfectly with marginal, half-@$$ effort. I expect it will be as simple on pre-punched leather. This weekend I will pull some scraps and give it a test run on sizes, leather weights, and pull out some heavy line grommets to see how it does. Stay tuned.

Great product that does what it advertises to do, great for home projects
Heavy duty machine with three included sizes for grommets (0, 2, and 4). I needed it for #2 and it seemed like a good bargain. I am happy with the product and have used it to affix grommets in my ferret hammocks, a shade cloth for outdoors, and a custom cover I sewed for a rack shelving unit. I would buy again if the need arose, though I doubt this one is going to need to be replaced. For extra measure, I mounted it to a 2 inch thick, 4 inch square piece of wood so I could move it around where I need it and am positive the ferrets can’t knock it over. I counter sunk the nuts provided for the hex screws included and it is a thing of beauty. I did not receive remuneration for this review from anyone and wrote it because it is a solid piece of equipment for home projects. As a disclaimer, I am not going to ever use it daily or in truly heavy duty ways and would still recommend it.
