It is very light (compared to my memories of 30 years ago), so the metal must be quite thin- BE CAREFUL not to ding it!!

Wow- what a great package! Because we just received it, I can't comment on things like durability yet, but my initial impression on everything is extremely favorable. Well packaged, nice case, the instrument was well protected and flawless- no scratches or dings. I love the silver accents too- looks like a high end instrument! The metronome/tuner seems very cool and even comes with batteries. The instrument assembled as it should, and even while dry, the slide and tuning end moved very well and smooth. When I properly lubricate them, I think they should be smooth and quiet. Finally, I put it to the test. Haven't played one for 30 years, but still managed a reasonable scale that sounded great actually! That must say something about its construction/design. Impressive for something at this cost point. I'll post again after about a month (birthday present for my son). My son going into sixth grade next year is going to love it!

Great for a student.

I got this for my son solely because of the price. This is my son's first year in band. The local rental company wanted $48/month and a one year contract. So I turned to Amazon for other options. Even though i got this because of price it has worked out great. My son had no complaints and loves it. His music teacher was so impressed he bought one to have on hand in the class room.

Great beginner trombone!

I purchased this trombone for my youngest son who starts 6th grade band this year. I found that this was a much cheaper option then renting for the year and he can control use this instrument for years to come. I was confident in making the purchase as my 16 year old son also plays the trombone and has for the last 5 years. He has played multiple trombones in those years so I was able to have his help in reviewing this instrument. It arrived in great condition and the case is perfect for my younger some who is a smaller than average 12 year old. It is very light weight yet durable. The trombone itself plays well. The slide is clean and smooth once you properly oiled. Note that we did use my older sons oil which is better quality, however he says that the oil it came with is perfectly fine.

Great value for a truly bargain price.

Great trombone for an unbelievably low price. Looks great and plays great. The slide is excellent when cleaned and properly lubricated. I use Super Slick on it and the slide is super slippery. The horn would be great for youngsters as it is light and easily managed. Don't listen to bad mouthing about this trombone, it is a true bargain and this from an old guy who has owned expensive top brand horns. Have been playing the Mendini MTB-L B Flt Tenor Slide Trombone for almost a week and would like to add that it plays great, the slide is great and the horn is very comfortable to play as it is lighter to hold than most of the brand names. Comments about how thin the tubing is distresses me, as any instrument will suffer dents and dings if treated roughly. Selling a great student trombone for less than $150.00 enables many to study the trombone that could not afford more expensive horns!. Musical instruments are tools and like all tools, should be well cared for to keep them looking and playing well, spite of the thickness of the tubing, etc.

For Middle School Students, Great Buy!

Amazing quality for the price. So glad I found this here on Amazon. We bought ours from KK Music Store. Came well packaged, and arrived in 8 days. (We did not do a rush) Trombone has great sound and looks to be of very good construction for a student trombone. I realize that this price point is supposed to be lesser made than the true professional trombones (and a bit smaller of course), but it really sounds and looks fantastic. Much better than I expected actually. The brass finish is pristine, and has silver accents. This is really a great horn at a very good price. The case was a great surprise, not hanging strings or cheesy zippers, it has rubber feet on the long side and the larger horn end (so it stands solid & won't topple over on its own). The case is made of very heavy canvas with double zippers, and extra snap enclosure to cover zippers when closed under the carry handle. Actually it has several handles to carry in different ways. the inside is custom fit for the horn with 2 protected door compartments for extra gadgets, and one larger rectangle zipper on the outside for music. The lining I expected to be a very inexpensive lining, but it is really very nice, thicker well made velvet like material. The 2 pcs. of the horn are in thin protective dust covers, and the overall presentation is quite lovely and everything seems of great quality. If you are looking for a young student, do not hesitate, this is the one for you! So pleased I did not buy a used one. Do look here on Amazon and buy the bow protector as well, it fits this unit perfectly & will protect the end that I'm sure the kids will rest on the floor while waiting for there part to play.

Has survived the first 5 months of 6th grade - it's a winner!

Ok, writing a review now finally after my son has used this trombone after 5 months of 6th grade. Unlike the flute my daughter used, that we decided (wisely) to rent, I decided that a trombone has so few moving parts that we should go for buying a low end one. We definitely made the right call. This is a really nice, completely usable trombone beginners trombone. The band teacher hasn't given him any grief, and it works great. My son isn't going to be Fred Wesley, but the trombone isn't to blame. lol. The case is great too. And he's been unable to dent it or beat it up yet. I completely recommend it if you have a kid who is a maybe about their instrument. The cost is less than a year's rental, and the quality is more than adequate for a new student.

I am an 80 year old ex trombone player who has not played since 1954 high school band when I had a Frank Holton trombone which got lost and I wanted to see if I could still play. I feel this horn is a great bargain. All I want now is to get my lip back where it used to be when I used to be first chair solo pep band player. I am extremely happy with this horn.

Great to start off with!

Just starting off on Trombone. It's a great instrument to play around on and learn with. After playing woodwind instruments my whole life I have really enjoyed playing on this trombone. Great quality for the price.

Nice quality, great sound

daughter started trombone classes, didnt want to pay too much to start with, shes been having lessons for quite some time now and got quite good, so I asked her teacher if it was worth buying something more expensive he said no the quality of this is fine.
