I purchased one for myself and recently one for my daughter for use on our Laptops - both of which use Windows Vista. You may have to go into your sound set up and make the USB Soundcard your DEFAULT and Save that option. Once you do that - if you fail to plug the USB soundcard in, it will revert to the original sound card set up so you wont be without sound. JUST DONT ManHandle it - and treat it right and it will treat you right :-) The main reason I purchased this for myself was my HP Laptop's built in sound card did not deliver even reasonable quality microphone recording. This little jewel (USB soundcard) did the job! It does NOT have special FX or anything like that, but its good for the money. And of course it delivers better sound than my Laptop too. My daughter is still not sure how to set hers up - I will have to install it for her. While I have not tried this on XP - I would imagine, XP will install with little to no hassle. I have not tried it or know of anyone who has But I do not think it will work on Windows 7. Windows 7 is a hard animal to please when finding the right SoundCard used for Recording/Singing and have quality FX too. If anyone finds such a sound card for Windows 7, let me know.

this thing is great! i wish they had this 10 years ago when you constantly had to find sound card drivers, this thing you plug it in and wammo sound card installed and works great. cant beat it for the price. great bang for your buck. the only negative and this could be my computer is backwards bur when you plug it into the front usb ports the buttons on it that function it ( volume i think) are facing the floor :| LOL but it all good

I got this product because there was a motherboard problem with my laptop, which caused the on-board speakers and headphone / microphone jack to stop working. I bought two other usb sound card in addition to this one, but this one worked the best. This device also does not feel as flimsy as the other two I bought. It is probably the highest quality cheap usb sound card there is on this website. I got sound comparable to what my "entertainment PC" used to deliver. The drawback to this product is that you it sticks out a little way out the usb port (it is unavoidable, so you have to be careful not to hit it while plugged into the port). Also not everyone will need this product. If you already have a good internal sound card this is not necessary.

My headphone jack is busted. This adapter not only bypassed the issue but brought true meaning back to "Plug & Play" !

Works as Advertised, and is great for the Price! it took me a while to figure out how to install it, since there were no directions! It did not install automatically, i had to go through the files on the disk and find the ones that needed to be installed, which was kinda trial and error. But once i got it in correctly, it works well on my computer. The earphone hole on my laptop is loose and u have to wiggle it constantly to get sound. I knew it would eventually break it I kept at it. And on my Toshiba there is no easy access to fix the sound card, the whole comp needs to be opened up, And I'm not about to do that myself, and the cost of fixing it would be silly, so i bought this. I was going to get a more expensive one, but i was low on funds so i figured id get this one for a temp solution, which will probably now last as long as this product does. Hopefully a while. SOUND QUALITY SAME AS COMPUTER SOUND CARD. So if that is what u are looking for like me, i doubt u can do better than this price and it shipped here in two days. Fast. But i would suggest the maker send directions on how to install it. id put it here, but i don't remember what files on the c.d. eventually got it running. Oh, it is loose though, so u may want to buy an extension for your usb so it doesn't eventually get hit and break your usb port. Im going to get one.

Talk about easy and inexpensive for DJ work, PA work, music in general. Let's you pull audio from a computer through a USB port. Plus you can use it for mic input as well. Just select mic input or audio out put, plug in a cable to your mixer and Voila! Sound! And good quality too. No more worn out crackly, will it work now, don't touch that cord with earphone or line out on your desktop/laptop. Got 1 free USB port (2.0 is better but will work with less)? You are in business. I have one running now, buying 2 more as backups. Wish they were manufactured slightly stronger. No worries. At this price, buy a bag full.

This USB adapter works great. I especially like being able to make adjustments to volume, etc. right on the adapter itself.

After my sound card kicked the bucket, I needed to find another but didn't have all that much to spend. I asked a friend of mine and he suggested a USB sound card. I thought he was joking and that any such thing wouldn't work. But I was definitely wrong. I bought it and tried it and it worked like a charm. And with a USB hub that I have, I don't have to have it plugged directly into my PC. I can have it on my desktop for easy access in case I need to use it elsewhere. I highly recommend this product if you need a sound card and don't have the money to buy an internal for your PC or laptop. It works great!

I broke the plug in out of my laptop and got this as a quick fix. I absolutely love having the buttons on the device to mute and change the volume. If your not used to the size of a new laptop yet, you'll hit the wrong button a few times. A few people said it feels flimsy when they press the button, but I always put a finger under it to steady it and haven't had any problems! The headphones I use lose a bit of quality when listening to something, so I'm not sure if this device effects it any, but I definitely haven't noticed it if so.

Just got mine today, took like 4 days to get here so am pretty impressed with that. The 3.5 headphone jack on my netbook has some issues you have to wiggle the cord to get sound to come out of headphones so rather than spend $100+ to get it repaired at a shop I bought this little gizmo... and its great... no disk installiation nessesary just simple plug and play. It has great sound quality and I love the fact that it has the volume buttons right on the device... Highly reccomend to anyone having issues with the stock headphone jack on their laptop/netbook it is a great fix for under $5 im thinking about getting another one so i have a spare... Great Buy!!! Oh and as a side note the specs on the little card that came with it said it would work with xp and vista.. I am currently running win7 ultimate and still had no issues with installiation!!!! Like I said just plug it in reboot your computer and you are in buisness!!! :)
