My grandson loves these puzzles, he is 2 and a half. He has developed great motor skills, he matches them up to the slots, but HEAVEN FORBID YOU MISPLACE A PIECE! Some of the puzzle come with an off/on switch, some do not! Old MacDonald had a farm...is great the first 50 times, but lose him and you will want to hide it in the bottom of the linen closet. They are great toys, VERY WELL MADE, Amazon's prices are terrific. All joking aside, Melissa and Dave are an extraordinary brand. I endorse them whole heartedly. Enjoy

We haven’t had a miss yet with these puzzles! My children are ages 3- nearly 22, and all six of them have playeded with Melissa & Doug Toys on their own and together. They are so well made they last for years and years & are both fun and educational. The puzzles are especially great, They teach sorting, matching , following directions, taking turns. Melissa & Doug are one of the best toy brands ever!

Most reviews I read weren't the greatest; however my toddler loves this puzzle and the animal noises it makes. Yes it makes the noise even if the wrong piece slightly covers the sensor but it's a childs toy and wont be perfect. I have also never had issues with the noise going off when not being played with. I would definitely buy this puzzle again and others like it. Highly recommended.

Great for learning about animals!

This puzzle helped my toddler with animal sounds and identifying animals, even before he could use it as an actual puzzle. I have purchased multiple Melissa and Doug products and this has the same quality as the other products. A great first birthday gift that can be used for many years!

Excellent fun from sturdy toy

How cute! Like all M&D products, outstanding workmanship and bright, well made pieces. Love that the sound plays the sound after you replce an animal.replace. The reward of child first saying animals name then the sound is reinforced by the toy’s repeating sound.. Grandson learned them all very quickly and plays with it every visit. Very sturdy and brightly colored.

Very authentic sounding

I've always loved Melissa and Doug Toys and this is no exception. The sounds are great and my 18 month old grandson loves it. He has an older puzzle, that I bought years ago for his sister and it still works great. I purchased four different puzzles at the same time so I will copy and paste this review. Melissa and Doug make great products.

Very loved

This is on and off a real favorite with my toddler grandkids. My little ones are twin girls, very interested in the animals among us, and sometimes we spend endless amounts of time pulling pieces off this puzzle and mimicking the sounds they make. The girls can roar like lions, hiss like snakes, and scream like monkeys. I'm convinced they think all these animals are smaller than them--can't wait for them to see the actual size of an elephant. Until I can afford to take them on a safari, this will have to do.

My grandson loves this! We bought this when he was about 18 months old, and he continues to play with it every time he visits. He loves the sounds of the airplane and ambulance, and imitates the sounds. I would recommend this for children between one and 2 1/2

Great Puzzle!! Figured out why it makes noise on it's own :)

My son loves this animal sounds puzzle!! Monkey is the favorite for sure. The pieces are cute and my son loves the reward of the animal sounds for getting the pieces in their right spots. I read reviews and was a little hesitant to purchase. I had read that the puzzle often goes off by itself randomly in the middle of the night and such. Yikes!! who wants that? Ultimately, my sons love for this puzzle (he played with it often during Developmental therapy) convinced me to give it a try. Yes, that monkey did start howling on it's own. Of course this happened while my oldest daughter and I where up late watching scary movies lol. It took us a bit of time but we figured out why it was howling. So I will share that with you :) The sensor that makes the animals make noise is light sensitive. So if you store your puzzle board with the pieces in it, you won't get the random sounds. If you store the board face down without the pieces, you won't get random noises. If you do not have that monkey piece in the board and turn of the lights at night to start watching that next scary movie, then yes, yes that monkey will howl. LOL!!! The puzzle is great honestly. My son plays with it daily.

Perfect for toddlers.

I used this puzzle with my toddler and we loved it. My child already loves wooden puzzles and when she heard this one with sounds she was stoked about it.
