I can comment on how wonderful this box has been for our cats

While I can't comment on how this toy box actually functions as a toy box for kids, I can comment on how wonderful this box has been for our cats. We have a household with 2 big dogs, and 3 hungry cats. Without having to build a box from scratch ourselves, since we are two people who are absolutely terrible with DIY, we decided to go with a toy box and make a few modifications. All we did as far as modifications go is make a cat door big enough for our cats to get into without the dogs being able to stick their heads inside and eat the food. We did have to buy a hatch at a hardware store since our dogs could very easily open the lid. The toy box was super simple to put together, and took no time at all. The espresso color is super nice, and I don't think this looks cheap at all. It's been a wonderful addition to our home!

Can take a lot of toddler abuse

My kid is really rough on her belongings. She has to climb into and on everything. She completely destroyed her last toy box that was a fabric folding one. She would climb in and out and eventually the sides got all messed up and bent. I invested in this Austin toy box and it has been very sturdy. She throws her toys in and out, uses it as her personal fort, and jumps on the lid. Still in perfect condition somehow. Definitely recommend.

Nice affordable toy box

I’m pretty happy with this toy box. It looks nice and does what it’s supposed to do hold toys. It feels durable enough to last and should stand up to kids playing on it. It was super easy to assemble it took maybe 30 min start to finish. It comes with most everything you need to assemble even some of the tools so all you will need is a philips screwdriver. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a good toy box

Baby loves it

Christmas gift for my great-grandson who lives with us. His toys in the living room were getting unruly so this is there. Not all his toys can get in but enough of them to keep the living room somewhat tidy. The hinge works perfectly and the 14 month old has no problems getting toys out, toys in, and closing the lid. My only regret is that I wish the wood was a little thicker to be sturdier than it is.

Good, large, nice looking toy box at a good deal

First-like all furniture, know that "all wood" does not mean "solid wood." This is a particle board/veneer product. Thats why you can get it for under a hundred bucks. Having said that, it's nice to look at, ours was defect and scratch-free and the espresso color, while not as dark as our espresso furniture is not as red as our cherry furniture. It just looks like traditional dark wood stain. Basically we were looking for something that looked less like kid stuff and more like furniture, fit in a family room that has dark brown leather furniture and espresso end tables, and this fits the bill, even if its not an exact match to the Espresso stain on the end tables. Easy assembly, good instructions, screws and parts labeled very well-even with individual, labeled punch outs to make it super easy. All tools except phillips screwdriver are included. I will say that some of the wood pegs did not line up to the holes, but I used a flathead screwdriver and hammer to redirect them and it was fine. Some nice features--the little-finger saving shocks that are attached to the lid. The size is nice and large for storage. (I saw complaints about the size in some reviews, but this is exact to the dimensions listed.) There is a good cutout in the front so our daughter can easily open the lid and then the shocks hold the lid up so it doesn't crash back down on her. It's very sturdy, people have sat on it and the kid has stood on it. Overall very pleased with this for the price. Only thing that would have been better is if it was solid wood, but I doubt you can find that in this size for $90 with free shipping.

Would buy again

Pretty awesome toy chest. We’ve had for almost 2 years now. It stays up on its own so you don’t have to worry about it slamming down on little fingers. It also is sturdy enough for kids to sit (or stand 😒) on frequently. Not as big as some other toy chest, but that just makes me rotate toys more often based on what’s being played with. 2.5 and 1 year old play with.

Would Purchase Again

I've had this product for almost two years now. I purchased it for my son and it is still sturdy and works wonderfully. I love that the top is made so it won't crash down on my son's fingers. The only thing I dislike about it was the handles. They're made of plastic and click together however they fell off so much that eventually we stopped trying to reconnect them. It's not an issue unless you intend on picking up the toy box itself. Despite that I wish I had another one for my daughter.

It was delivered and packaged good. Update after christmas

Just received my child tox box. Went striaght to open it to check it out. None of the parts was broke, but one of the sides had already got small scratches on it. Which for me it is alright due to i have a 3 year old and it prob get scratched up more anyways while in use. Will update once i put it together. It be after Christmas. Update: everything perfect... Little hard to get the top on but other than that it is perfect and easy

Doesn't close on your baby, great buy

We love this. Got this for our 1- year olds toys. It filled up very quickly, but that's bc we are first time parents and need to stop spending money on toys. Easy for my hubs to put together, took maybe 15 minutes. It's stays open when u open it, which is great bc my son likes to stick his head in here and just stare at his toys...so glad it doesn't shut on his head. It has a gap in the middle for baby fingers, but not on the sides. We got foam pinch pads for the sides, 2 bucks, simple fix. Pretty color, exact color of our wood floors. Very light

Perfect toy chest for kids..

Good looking, functional toy chest for kids. My husband put this together in 20 minutes using his electric screw driver (may take longer if doing by hand). The top closes perfectly without hurting little fingers. It's absolutely perfect.
