but it was fine by the time I got that dog bathed and ...
For the price point you really can’t go wrong. I was able to shave both dogs using the guards without difficulty. The clippers started to run a little warm by the end of the first groom, but it was fine by the time I got that dog bathed and dried. Once I started on the second dog they were completely cooled off. This is a huge money saver for me because sending 2 dogs to the groomer every 6-8 weeks costs me $100 a pop. Of course they don’t look as nice since I’m not a professional but for a first run I think it’s fine. The more you use them the better you’ll get. They’re pretty quiet for pet clippers. My dogs were not spooked or scared. The breed of the dogs are Maltese and cockapoo which are some of the worst for matting. These clippers handled the mats just fine. I kept the blades cleaned and oiled without any issues.

It's pretty powerful, so that is the trade off
I called around to get a quote on how much a haircut would cost for my labradoodle pup. It ranged from $70 - $85. Yikes!!! I have never cut a dog's hair before. I have only used it once, and already got my money's worth. It's quiet, cuts hair well. It comes with a carrying case, oil, brush to keep them sharp. (Bonus) The razor attachments really helped me even up her coat. I used the scissors to cut hair on her paws. The only downfall on this device is the weight. My hands are small, and wished it could be lighter. It's pretty powerful, so that is the trade off. I definitely recommend this product. Check out my puppy's before and after photo.

It's a shavefest!
I honestly don't know why there were so many complaints about people getting used and dirty products. Mine came in as perfect and shiny as it should be, as well as oiled and ready to use, although I oiled it again. I shaved a very matted, British Longhair cat. Doing the mats was actually pretty easy, contrary to some of the reviews and answers to questions (or maybe that was another? Idk, I read so many). Then I moved on to my dog, who is a husky/sheperd mix. Again, easy peasy. Used one of the guards on him. He just laid there. It was rather amusing. Since this required a bit of time and it was hot, I took a break when switching sides b/c the part you hold can get a little warm. Cleaned it and oiled it again and was ready to finish up his mohawk. The scissors aren't going to be good for anything, but I have some cutting scissors so I'm not worried about that. Overall, I'm VERY happy w/ my product and purchase.

GREAT little workhorse for the price
For a "cheap" set of clippers these are great. I originally got them to trim Border Collies' leg, stomach, tail, and bushy butt hair to keep them from dragging so much sand and dirt in the house. They do great for that purpose. They do heat up after a while but I bought a can of the cooling lube spray for the blade, and also have two of these clippers so can set one aside for the motor to cool. They seem rather loud but I don't know how the noise compares to other clippers. Replacement blades are available here on Amazon. I'd recommend getting at least one extra blade so you can send a dull one for resharpening. I'm about to send mine to premier1supplies.com, they charge $7 for sharpening small blade sets. Recently I have abused the heck out of these clippers by clipping mini goats. Two bucks (one pictured) had matted woolly undercoats that wouldn't completely comb out and really bogged the clippers down, but eventually got the job done. I used the 1/2" comb because I didn't want to shave them naked. Yesterday I clipped six does with the 1/8" comb. Cleaning/blade replacement is easy and cleaning should be done after every use. Just remove two short Phillips screws and brush out all the hair bits with an old toothbrush, wipe off the blade set, and reassemble as per included instructions.

We are now glad we did
We have two dogs. They're Cocker Spaniel/ Shetland Collie (Sheltie) mix. One of our dogs has mostly Cocker type hair. The other seems to have 3 different layers of hair. It's THICK! We've tried cutting them with conventional clippers. My dad was a barber and he had clippers he used on human customers all the time. However, they would NOT touch my dog's hair. We came across Wahl Brand Dog Grooming kit and it stated that it cut through thicker dog hair. We decided to give it a try. We are now glad we did. They made cutting the thick haired dog a lot more easy. The hair just fell off of her body as we clipped her. They worked very well. Our dog is a lot more happy, too. She gets hot and miserable this time of year, Spring-Summer). Granted, we don't do a professional job, but we're only looking to save a few bucks going to a professional dog groomer. For us, the Wahl Clippers were well worth every penny we spent. I have one piece of advice though. During shipping, the blades can be jiggled around. If they don't clip at first, you may have to adjust the blade setting. Look in the owner's manual for help in that matter. Again, we're a completely satisfied Wahl Clipper kit customer.

Smooth cut!
Very nice trimmer, I loved it! I shave my long haired cat, as he has some pretty poor grooming habits that mattes up his fur, and this trimmer worked so much better than the one I first borrowed to use on him! The other one was also a Wahl, but an older model that didn't work as well. By comparison, this model work so smoothly that I shaved my cat in just about 30 minutes! The noise is as loud as you'd expect on a trimmer, so if you are familiar with grooming products, the sound is about average. My cats were not frightened or unnerved by its sound, but they are pretty mild tempered in the first place anyway. Just expect a not-too-quiet but not-too-loud sound for this product. The device heated up significantly after over an hour of constant use. Taking into account I was shaving my two cats, who have smaller bodies than standard size dogs and have dense, fine hair, I'm not sure where this stands.. For my part, this was not unreasonable, as the smooth trimming made the whole process a lot faster anyway. I'd imagine this wouldn't be a problem though, as long as the trimming takes place in under an hour. Definitely recommend this product for pet owners who want to home-groom!

Great trimmer at an uncrazy price!
A bit of a learning curve with our new Wahl clipper, but after watching a quick YT video, I figured out the tapering feature and how to oil it properly. My Pudge (yep, that's her name!) loves it. Runs quieter than our old one (which wasn't terribly noisy) and, once the tapering lever at the top is adjusted, it does a wonderful job of trimming my long-haired cat. She plops down in my lap on the floor and says "Oooooo-Spa Day! Trim away, hoomin!" Recommended.

Should've bought long ago
These clippers work great! For 14 years I've taken my dog to the groomer and am now wishing I would have bought these sooner. It is less stressful for him and I can break it down into multiple segments. He was long past due for a hair cut and these clippers cut right through. Now I can trim him up more frequently throughout the year. I'm looking forward to using these again and again.

Tail waggin' good
This is the second one I bought because the quality is good. This one replaced my other one which was about 5 or 6 years old and still worked, but had seemed to lose a lot of its "oomph". I like the different plastic clips that go over the blades so you can trim the fur to just the length you want. It is a really complete kit with the scissors for tangles or knots, a little bottle of oil, and a comb. This sure beats the price of going to a groomer and is super easy to use. One use and it pays for itself.
