Box delivered on time, and was exactly as it was pictured. My son is just starting out on drums, and this is the perfect set for him. The cymbals are not that great, but hey, for the price, they are perfect. The only item that was not included was the "tuning key", which is something you REALLY need to put this set together. Lucky for me, Ken Stanton Music is close by, and gave my son one for FREE. Now, my son can play all day long...in the basement...HA.

It's actually a beginner set, but it's not a toy. This is a REAL drum kit. The heads and cymbals are less than you would want to tour with, but very adequate for home/.kid use. The overall quality is very good. Set up... not at all fast. If it's a gift give yourself plenty of time. You will need a drummer friend or have been in a band that has a player with a full kit. I would imagine there are a few Youtube sites that could help. Otherwise it could take you some time to figure this one out. THERE ARE NO INSTRUCTIONS!

Bought this for our 10 year old son for his birthday and 5 months later he has not lessened in his excitement. He plays this set every single day. While it doesn't have quite the sound of an "adult" drum set, it does not sound like a toy set either. Set up wasn't too bad with the help of the dvd and now he likes to move around and tweak his set to his own liking. I wholeheartedly recommend as I searched long and hard for just the right set. He will eventually upgrade the cymbals as he has already started looking on amazon for new ones, but for now those are ok too.

UPDATE TO BELOW****- amazon can credit gammon for the 5 stars. The original review (below) is true and frustrating but Gammons quick response and customer service was great! Amazon had a later rep who was much more helpful and cooperative as well. In the end, I believe all will be well.*** So we ordered a set for our son and it was missing the Tom Tom brackets. These are the two large metal pipe pieces in the second image of the ad. We called amazon immediately and it was INCREDIBLY hard to understand the customer representative, (heavy talking in the back and difficulty with the accent- but normally isn’t a big deal) EXCEPT the guy named....Tony.... CALLED US LIARS! ... I was looking at the item on the prime page and not my actual order & so I misunderstood him. He really hammered what liars we were... if I didn’t feel so bad for my kid staring at a busted up set all over the floor, I’d laugh at the worst experience I’ve had with a rep IN MY LIFE! Hoping Gammon has better customer service than amazon. Womp womp!

I purchased this for my son who turned 6 in October. I did not want to invest too much money into a drumset, many recommended this and I have to agree for a begginer cant go wrong. For the basics, and fundamental learning of drums this is all you need. My son has been in drum lessons for 2 months and has really established a great rythm and precision, thus i upgraded the heads and cymbals. I put on Evans G2 heads on Toms, and a Evans HD Dry Snare, for cymbals purchased Meinl HCS hi hats, crash, splash and ride, made this kit sound like a $1,000 kit. I would highly recommend this set for those just starting out and on a budget.

I am 65 years old and have played in bands on and off for 50 years. I have always played guitar and several other instruments. I've been around a lot of drums and drummers, so what the heck, why not drums. My current drummer came over and we put the set together and I've got nothing but great things to say about this set,,,,,Price = great. What you get/value =excellent...Ease of assembly= excellent. Sound = excellent. .Cymbals are adequate, and certainly part of the overall value package...MAKES ME WANT TO GO UPSTAIRS AND PLAY

I have read the reviews for this set (some good, some horrible) but as a musician and a fellow drummer, i'm here to spill the facts. First of all, if you are looking at this product than you're either starting out, or you have a tight budget at the moment (my case). Let's begin with the drums themselves, not the hardware. The total price of this set is around $190 (plus shipping). That is still an amazing deal just for the shells and heads. No they are not maple or mahogany or whatever wood you think is the best, but it is sturdy and gets the job done. That said, be happy that there are full size drum shells for this price. Now for the hardware. Yes, it is light weight and "cheap", but who can say no to free stuff. These peices will do untill you feel confident that you want to expand and upgrade your hardware. If you decide to embark on the journey of professional drumming, then you should upgrade your hardware and drum heads. Overall this is an amazing price for starting out fresh with endless possibilities to expand. Be happy if you purchase this, because you will never find a better deal for this. Plus, my hardware is still perfect, but the cymbals are for practice only (dont expect Zildjian, just something to train with till the time is right. Overall amazing deal. Build your own music legacy :). Happy drumming!

I have never met a more friendly company on Amazon as Musicians Discount Warehouse. I needed to have this delivered on a certain date. I got in contact with them, and within 2 hrs we were in touch. They told me when would be the best date to order it, they said to let them know as soon as I place so they could watch out for it and be sure it got sent. Very friendly. Very helpful and a whole lot more. Now for the drums itself, wow it came to the exact date as they said. Well wrapped for protection. We gave this to a church, so it took a while to check it all out. Everything was inside, great shape. Once the church set it up, we went to see it. Everyone was very happy with it. The blue was a great match. The drummer about 14 who likes to beat the beat, said it was very easy to set up and fine tune. For use in a church the song stays strong, does not over bear the hearing at all. With a chior, it matched just perfect, did not drown the chior out. No matter what the drums may be used for, I think you will be very happy about them. Now that the Pastor is vetry happy and proud to have them in his church. he asked me if we could find a 4 string bass guiltar, well Musicians Discount Warehouse has just the ones they are looking for. We are placing our order for it today, and we are sure they will give us great service and it will be a great product just as the drunms were. Last issue, during our contacts with Musicians Discount Warehouse, they told me if I ever need help with them, or have a problem they will do whatever it takes to solve the issue. Now that is better then any price you pay for an item, service / support number 1 in my books. One last thing the church members say God Bless to you all at Musicians Discount Warehouse, they waited 4 years to find a good deal on drums, glad we could help some.

Bought this for my 14 year old son. I've been a drummer for 35 years and I can say this drumset is a great bargain. The quality is fantastic. It is a full-size kit, perfect for all but the youngest children. I highly recommend getting this set, rather than a "child's" set, if it's affordable. Yes, the cymbals aren't great, but they get the job done. I don't have any problem with the heads; they're fine. All in all, just a great kit.. Buy it.

No nonsense: 1. It's complete, as advertised and not hard to set up. 2. The cymbals sound bad, especially the crash. But they do what they are supposed to do. 3. The bass drum pedal doesn't have great rebound/tension to it, but it's adjustable and useable. 4. The heads are crappy but do their job--for how long, we'l see. 5. The rims are cheap/light aluminum and the bass will go out-of-round pretty quickly. As long as you're not breaking down and setting up, this is probably irrelevant--just let it go. 6. The black laminate covering on one of my toms has an obvious seam that looks like it wants to peel up. 7. Get some nice hickory sticks--the ones that come it seem like some kind of softwood. 8. The conclusion on these observations should be that, at $250-$275, there's nothing not to like here!! A professional drummer friend of mine came over recently to do my re-setup and gave it the seal of approval. Nothing you can't learn on this set that won't transfer to something nicer if the need or desire arises!
