I waited 3 weeks before writing review. My son broke his arm a few days before camp (forearm cast to elbow)- they swim twice a day and do water sports. Like other reviewers I was scared of this thing failing, so took extra precautions that are ESSENTIAL. If you do this, the cast protector worked great. After daily repeated usage, his cast is dry and doing well. His is a thin 6 y/o and the pediatric small was tight and comfortable. Here are the rules: 1. wrap the cast tightly and completely with a layer of GLAD PRESS AND SEAL. Make sure to apply two inches above cast. (His counselors were educated on how to do this simple step) 2. Put a sock over the this. 3. After applying cover make sure you dip arm in pool, open seal and press out extra air. After day 1 or two, there was ALWAYS, moisture and a bitof water inside the cover, but it was not substantial, the sock and press and seal protected the cast. At the end of the each day, I turned the cover inside out to dry it. three weeks later he has been able to enjoy his camp like everyone else :-)

Perfect to keep the foot dry.I bought this for my husband who had his ankle fused and he cannot have his foot wet for a while until the stitches heal. He is a big man (6'1") and his shoe size is 12, consequently the boot cast he has on is big. This bandage protection goes in tightly around the shoe area. The leg part is ok but it would have been nicer if the foot area were wider. It does prevent water from getting in but it would have been nicer to have a size a little wider to accommodate his boot easier. Other than that, I have been helping him shower with absolutely no problem at all!

I am no weight bearing after a broken leg and ankle surgery. I had a cast and now a splint again after the surgery. I have used it three times now on both a cast and a splint and it hasn't leaked a bit. We have wrapped a towel around the splint just to minimize any condensation and potential leaks but the towel isn't ever wet. I let the water run right down onto my leg too. I do need help getting it on (you have to pull the gasket wide) and I can't get it over the splint myself. If I pull one side and my help pulls the other, it goes on quickly and easily. Maybe as I heal I will be able to do it myself. When done, we just hang it in the shower to dry for a day and then put it away until the next use. I agree with other reviewers that this thing smells bad but that is a small price to pay. Although I am only three uses in, I don't see any signs of it not lasting me through the life of my injury. I also got a delta adjustable tub transfer bench and what a difference they make...without them I had pretty much resigned myself to not showering for over a week (yucky thought and sponge baths are only so effective) because it was such a difficult and cumbersome process. I have no problem showering regularly now.

I had bunion surgery on both feet and had to wear the bandages and orthopedic boots for several weeks, so I ordered 2 of these. I know from previous experience that plastic bags, tape, etc. never work. I have to say that these worked extremely well, even better than I imagined. I never had any moisture whatsoever get inside them My grown daughter is an in-home care giver for multiple clients. She came to help me out during this time, and she was amazed as well. In fact, she said she would start recommending these to her clients should future needs arise. They are a bit long, but I am only 5'3" tall, and presume these were made as a one size fits all solution and to accommodate multiple cast sizes. That then would be the only suggestion for improvement that I would have which would be to make them in maybe a short, medium, and long length. This is a great product that I would definitely recommend to others.

I have two now. I live in Florida and this has been awesome. Definitely works well in the shower. BUT I have a 2 year old in swim lessons and a 4yo who loves to swim. I couldn't spend 5 weeks not swimming. So I wear this in the pool but don't "swim". I can stand and move a bit... and it does not leak. There are other precautions I take: For use in the pool: - I COVER my cast with Saran wrap (cling wrap). The press N seal does not work well. Cling wrap is best. I cover it tightly and thick. Try to keep it all connected as in, no breaking. - Put on the plastic sleeve - slowly enter the pool and pull open the top of the seal part a teeny bit as you lower leg into water to release air - try to get as much air out as possible and plastic sleeve begins to actually create a suction on the leg. Don't move quickly or too deep. I've done this in the pool 5 times now with no issue! This is a great product!

This should have been given to me by my doctor!!! Amazing item that works. Doctor recommended Press and Seal food wrap...what a nightmare. Purchased this and during my visit I remarked how I purchased one of these and it should be part of their offering. They remarked that they had them in the cast room but I am not sure of the quality or even co-pay. This was the right price and besides being a little tight around my upper bicep as I am 6 foot 4 and 38 inch sleeve, it provides an incredible seal in a full arm cast that I would venture to say you could swim with or use in a tub! Thank you for this wonderful product. The picture does not do it any justice. It is a clear light blue and thick and heavy plastic that does the job well. The top is elastic rubber contraction providing a very good seal.

I got this today and have been dying to use it all day! I lost a toe to surgery 9 days ago and have explicit instructions from my doctor not to let nasty ole Fort Work water touch my wound site. I was scared to try it because when i tried a shower last week i used 2 plastic bags taped to my leg one above the other and my foot still got wet, I have been washing up as best as I could and it just isn't getting it in this 100 degree Texas heat. It has a great soft rubber gasket at the top that took a little stretching to get it over my bandages and boot. It stretched easily over it and sealed tightly onto my thigh but not so tight as to be uncomfortable. I took a LOOONG shower as it was my first one in 7 days. It felt like it was getting wet inside but it didn't. It was just the heat of the water translating through the vinyl. I made sure to dry my entire self off before taking it off so as not to get any "run-off" onto my foot. My leg, from the seal down, was perfectly dry! The rubber seal did not appear to be permanently stretched and I have no doubt that tomorrow's shower will be just as pleasant and just as dry under the protector. I highly recommend this product and will buy another if it ever wears out.

Works great! I have always done the tried and true trash bag with duct tape, but this is so much easier! I’ve used it several times (I have the one for your leg) and have not experienced any leaks whatsoever. I wish I had this for all my other surgeries! Depending on your leg size, this could be used for knees as well. I’m 5’6 female, average weight and I can pull it all the way to the top of my thigh (I have a knee high cast). The only thing that bothers me is that it rolls a tiny bit (I mean like millimeters) but does not affect it’s use, I think it’s just from my thigh chub.

I've been using this product after foot/ankle surgery (first had one of those large, bulky orthopedic post-surgery cast/wrap for two weeks, and then a regular fiberglass cast). It has been WONDERFUL to be able to take a shower and have had NO leaks. My cast only comes to below the knee, but I pull this cover up to lower thigh level just to make sure there's enough girth for a good seal. I also have sensitive skin and have had no problems with the materials in this cover. Love that it's reusable! After showering I will pat this dry and then hang on a towel hook to make sure it's nice and dry for the next shower. One thing I've done is to turn the top silicone flange inside-out when putting it on and off so it will glide easier over the fabric wrap (I was struggling to keep it from clinging and dragging as I put it on), and on the fiberglass cast, it keeps the silicone from being snagged and/or torn on the rough texture of the fiberglass. Once it's up over my knee, I flip it back and pull into a comfortable position.

We got this for my 3.5 year old when he broke his arm because the bagel bag just wasn't cutting it. It was pretty large on his arm, but working amazingly well. I was really paranoid that it would leak and we'd have to get a new cast put on, but it never leaked. Definitely worth the money.
