We recently remodeled 3 bathrooms and we are so happy with all the Hansgrohe product. This iBox is genius... To fully appreciate it, you'll need to watch a video at the Hansgrohe website where they animate this iBox for various configurations. It is just plain genius. Hansgrohe made it simple that this is the only thing you use for shower / tub connect... you want a shower only, use the iBox... you want a shower / tub combo, use the iBox... you want a hand-held shower and jets on the wall, use the iBox. You get the idea. Installation is easy but requires attention. Because this is German/European, they do things a little differently than us Americans, and thus your American (I'm assuming) contractor / plumber. First, you have to make sure that it is installed in the proper position... Although it can rotated 180 degrees without consequence, it cannot be rotated 90 degrees. There is actually the word "Top" on top, which my contractor missed. He installed the top to the right instead, so he had to re-do it. Second, all the connections are screwed / twisted on instead of solder like other brands. You'll melt the plastic if you use solder nearby! My contractor soldered all the pipe (short segment) and 90 degree bend connectors elsewhere first, and then twisted them on... this iBox looked like an octopus (with 4 legs instead of 8) when it was installed. Then you can solder those connectors to your water supply / shower / tub outlet. Or you can skip all the copper pipe and use PEX tubing instead. I bought 3 of these and am very happy. I would highly recommend watching the video at Hansgrohe website multiple times, they explain the installation and waterproofing well.

Be aware that this product is no longer provided with brass reducer fittings, 3/4"x"1/2 & a 3/4" plug. The absence of these fittings seems to be reflected in the new lower price. Would be nice if Amazon noted that when the change occured. Otherwise, this is a quality piece, as is everything from Hansgrohe & Grohe. Seller shipped promptly.

Bought this on a whim, and told my plumber/ contractor to install it during master bath remodel. It almost got lost since.mailman delivered it a couple houses down. Amazon helped me track it even though it was marked delivered by mailman. This item is huge. Plumber finally installed it on thursday and pressure tested it all through the weekend. No leaks a day non of the rushing get water sound you sometimes hear through the wall. Awesome so far. Plumber stated this is an awesome investment and a nice piece.

WOW, I thought this would be small and light. It is not, very heavy and huge. Well worth the money compared to some el-cheapo service boxes which feel cheap. I used 3/4" lines in and 1/2" lines out w/ an adapter to get max water pressure(also nice, lots of boxes only provide 1/2" service.) Turning once the Hansgrohe 04233000 S Pressure Balance Trim was installed is smooth, solid, easy to adjust micro-increases in temp, and overall great quality. Note, the outer most flange(on the front side) is super deep, so your installer will most likely need to shave some of this off, like ours did, if you are using a standard tile & backer board system. But this means it can easily accommodate if you are using thicker material, like a 2cm solid slab for instance on the walls.

CAUTION ! Ships with the Service Stops OPEN. If you plumb it and don't remember to close them and turn on your water the flushing plate will dump full flow from both hot and cold into your room. Since this is installed with Rough plumbing most folks wont have the shower or tub in place to drain the water. IMHO the service stops should be shipped closed. My bad for not checking them before turning on the water. Amazing flow from two wide open 3/4" lines, LOL. Hansgrohe makes great stuff. This box is no exception. Seals to the tile line and any leaks (I've never seen one with Hansgrohe) should run into the shower or tub not down the wall. Easy to install Instructions are good and it is a great way to rough in a shower or tub or combo. Make sure to get the right combo of products (finish valves and iBox) there are older and some different models but the finish valves all tell you which rough (iBox) you need.

Very nice plumbing box with great quality and features. For those worried about depth based on some other reviews. you should be aware that to use this in a standard 2x4" wall cavity you will have to install it toward the back. You will trim the plastic surround to the surface of the wall once installed. It fits fine that way with minimal final extension of the lever handle. If your handle is sticking out too far, you installed it incorrectly and likely centered your supply lines in the wall. This is now my favorite rough-in box and I will be using it again.

100% satisfied I upgraded our master shower with this, and combined with their Select E Thermostatic Trim 2 controller. Tip: do your contractor research and make sure your plumber isn't lying to you when he says he's installed this Hansgrohe rough in valve before. Or you'll pay for him teaching himself how to do it and waste your install money. Also, the Hansgrohe website and Youtube videos are done very well and were very helpful showing my pro plumber the right way to install this for being able to use a rain shower head and also a hand held shower independently, or both at the same time.

This unit is great and works very well. The instructions were very clear and I had no problems with this product. I will give one piece of advice.. which didn't change my star rating... it is very hard to install with a shower remodel plate. Almost no room to put your connectors on. I made it work after 5 hours of messing around with it.

Other reviews cover this thoroughly, but one thing I want to add is that Amazon offers professional installation for this item during checkout. The rate quoted by Amazon was much less than the hourly rate of a plumber, so you should seriously consider Amazon's professional installation unless you are seriously handy.

I love this product! This is the first time using hansgrohe and I'll never use anything else. I have rain shower and handheld shower attached to it using PEX and I bought the S & E thermostatic trim with volume control with diverter to be able to use both at the same time (one of the VERY few manufacturers that is capable of doing that). I can't wait to use it. Definitely make sure the two shut off valves are shut off (which the groove for the flat head screw driver is pointing up/down). I did attach 3/4 PEX hot and cold directly to it because I wanted the pressure to be good on both shower heads when we start using them.
