After recently renovating our kitchen, I was intent on upgrading our cooking utensils. Decided it was time to turn my eye toward all the old wooden spoons and such. This was one of my first purchases to that end and I couldn't be happier. Not only is the olive wood much harder, more beautiful, and better finished than the old cheap soft-wood stuff we had before, but the shape of this one is perfect for getting into corners when stirring pots. I've since bought more of these same pointed spoons along with a variety of other olive wood pieces from a variety of makers and they all go together quite nicely.. Somewhere along the way I'd also acquired a set of bamboo utensils. While those are better than the cheap soft-wood stuff, they don't even come close to olive wood. The bamboo splinters and chars easily when exposed to the flame of our gas cooktop, whereas the olive wood utensils from good manufacturers like Berard, Scanwood, and Eddingtons is extremely smooth, dense, and more resistant to heat.

I spend 20 minutes making oatmeal every morning. Having a beautiful spoon like this makes it a lot less of a chore. The spoon is perfectly shaped for getting in the corners. After a few months of daily use, there is very little discernable wear. I just make sure it never sits in water and treat it with mineral oil once every two to three weeks. If you're considering getting a good wooden spoon, I highly recommend this one. Always make sure to get olive wood or bamboo.

This is hands-down my favorite spatula. The shape of the head is great and very versatile. The wood quality is top-notch. Note that it does require a bit of care, unlike a pure silicone one. I wash it soon after I'm done cooking with it so food does not harden onto it, and every now and then I'll apply a coating of oil to keep the wood moist. I personally use a light coating of olive oil although you can use (food grade) mineral oil if you want (buy the laxative version, same product, much cheaper, and good conversation starter hehe).

It is almost impossible to find an olive wood spoon that has a flat bottom edge. I am pleased with this Berard product. Very useful when stirring pasta sauce. Be sure to take good care of the wood with mineral oil on a regular basis.

I like this spoon. I've had one for several years, but I wanted another one. Sometimes I just need two. I especially like the design and size of the Berard. It is extremely useful.

I did not experience the issues others are having. Mine has held up beautifully. Its only drawback is that the spoon is very shallow, making using it for tasting undesirable. But hey, you're in the kitchen, so you got plenty of spoons lying around.

I grew up using this spoon thanks to my mom. I finally got one for myself and will never use another type ever again. I know this seems like a lot of emphasis to put onto a wooden spoon but once you try it for yourself, you will understand, I promise. The wood itself is great quality and ages so well. The shape is absolutely perfect. Try it for yourself and I'm sure you will understand.

This is my favorite spoon to cook with. Perfect for many cooking needs. We have 4 of these and use them daily.

Pointed end useful for scooping chopped/ground items out of a mini-prep bowls. Long enough to stir most 2qt. to 3qt. saucepans. Requires a judicious application of mineral oil after the first hand wash. Tip: Oil liberally and wrap in plastic wrap overnight. Season weekly for the first month and wipe down with water and baking soda to remove odors. This is a workhorse spoon.

Very pretty and sturdy; the flat edge makes scraping fond from the pan much easier than conventional spoons. A bit in the small side but still very useful. Note that handwashing is recommended, which does discourage frequent use.
