I am very impressed with the quality and variety (there's 120 snare drums!, timpani...) of the sounds. The ability to layer and modify sounds is very useful. The way I programmed mine, I am using it as a set without pedals. I programmed some of the pads (HH, Ride) to add a bass drum when I hit them harder, so I can play bass drum and HH/cymbal with one stick. The manual is not that great, but there are enough Youtube videos out there to get you started. I had a technical support question and they replied within 24 hours with a resolution to my issue. (FYI - to hook up your iPad follow steps 3-5 only on page 13 of the manual). The iPad app is great, except it keeps crashing (especially on saving---though I am able to re-open it and Save prior changes). I bought a small drum amp for the DTX and was unhappy with the sound, then got the Roland PM-100 80W amp which is great for practice and playing small rooms.

This electronic drum pad is AMAZING. I purchased it primarily for the timpani samples, allowing my youth orchestra percussionist to play a variety of instruments we do not have the space or manpower to move into the community center where we play. The quality of the sound when plugged into an amplifier of significant wattage is very impressive. We actually had a few of our own music staff who were initially outside talking to students comment to me, "when did we get the new timpani? They sound great!" and they were floored when they came into the rehearsal room and saw they were electronic!

This Yamaha DTX Multi Pad is one of the better musical equipment purchases I've made in a long time. I read a lot of reviews of this and similar drum pads from other manufacturers and decided to drop the money on the Yamaha. Have to say I'm thoroughly impressed. The stock sounds are decent, although it lacks many natural sounding kits but with the user presets I was able to build several kits using samples I already own, such as Gretsch kit, Ludwig kit, Taiko drums and roto toms. I use this for recording natural sounding fills over top of programmed loops to give my recordings a more organic feel. The pads are very responsive play very precise. The unit itself is very sturdy and well built. All in all, this was a wonderful addition to my home studio. If it were lost or stolen, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again !

We like the product, but charger is not compatible for sri lanka, but product good

I've been using this for a couple years now, and wanted to (finally) write a quick review: this thing is awesome! It's fun, intuitive, and flexible. I tend to use it as a stand-alone unit, but I know a couple of drummers who use this in a live set-up and love it too. From what I've experienced it's more of an "instrument" than the Roland SPD-SX (the closest competitor). A couple people have pointed out that the interface isn't exactly a good UX, but that's unfortunately par-for-the-course on ALL of these types of things. But if you've ever used an electronic drum machine, etc, you'll figure this out in no time. There's an app, some software that comes with it, as well as some extra samples/kits that Yamaha provides on their site. There's also a bunch of users out there who have made new kids, and share them online.

I love all the features of this except how non-intuitive it is. If I put it away for a week or two, I have to read the book again to figure out how to load sound files or navigate the memory. But it's SO handy. It gives me countless new possibilities!

Great product love it

Got this to use as a portable kit so I wouldn’t have to drag my DTX 700s around. It is great for that purpose with an add on hat and footpad. However, I began using its ridiculous amount of cymbals and percussion to record a CD and completely fell in love with its versatility. Worth every penny. Sounds are stellar.

As a percussionist, I have been using one of these for years and I love it. I love how much this little thing can do. As far as electronic percussion goes, this product has some of the best rebound and sensitivity I have seen. However, it's not going to feel like the real thing and you'll need to build up your chops to perform perfect rolls on it's surfaces, but I don't think that was the main purpose of this product when it was released. It contains a plethora of internal sounds and options and it is very good as an accessory to a kit or just by itself!

i've had this unit for a few weeks now and am loving it. bought it to play a gig that i knew would feature several other drummer/percussionists so wanted something small. i set all the kits i use next to each other in the user kit section with additional trigger tweaks- i.e. snare rim instead of extra bass. using the yamaha HH-control and kp65 bass drum trigger, after a bit of practice, i got used to the small play space and actually had a blast at the gig. many members of the audience came up to me later absolutely amazed at the big sound from the tiny box. was pumping it through a simmons da200 and most of the samples are the same as my dtxtreme III drum brain so sound terrific- the toms ring, the snares cracks. really really happy with this device.
