Great buy
We attached this to a char-griller smoker. Works great as a smoker and a cooker. We have been using this almost daily. As a stand alone with the legs attached,it will work very well for tailgating. Heats up fast and is very efficient.

Great Little Grill on its Own
I have been using this as a tailgating and porch grill, and it is definitely up to the task. I was a little wary about the paint issues that others have mentioned, but I have not seen any problems yet (after half a dozen grilling sessions). The side vents are easy to use, and the tray slides very well. Cooking with this little guy has been a breeze, and I love having the option of charcoal cooking when I have the time to devote to it.

This grill works great. Room for direct and indirect cooking
This grill works great. Room for direct and indirect cooking. Great for camping, charcoal is contained which is important when camping in dry areas. Line bottom of charcoal tray with foil and makes clean up very easy. Slightly heavier than most small grills, attribute this to quality materials, well worth the few extra pounds.

Great Grill !
Nice little grill ! I was a little concerned when reading the reviews about the paint . I also have the Char-Griller 5050 unit , and in the directions on the 5050 it says to put a lite coat of cooking oil on it before use , I used Crisco , I also used it on the 2-2424 and have not had a problem at all .

Heavy duty but necessary!
Very impressed with the quality and stoutness of this little grill. I've got a smoker box on my main grill and it's not nearly this well built. I bought this as my RV grill and love the size and heavy duty design. It's either light weight and junk or heavy duty and built to last. I haven't found an in between with grills. I added a temp thermometer to mine. The rack doesn't adjust the coals but I haven't found a reason to with this grill. I use less coals to start and add if need be. Adjust the air in/out and you'll be fine.

High quality portable grill
This is an extremely nice, high-quality portable barbecue grill from CharGriller at an amazingly affordable price. The assembly was easy due to the precision machining of the few assembly parts, and the instructions were good. My wife and I assembled it in about 30 minutes. The grill is made from good quality cast iron, and the grates are very good quality thick cast iron. I seasoned the pit and grates with bacon grease (as per the recommendation on the separate instructions page, rather than the manual which said vegetable oil) and then fired the pit up according to the instructions to "burn it in". I have been grilling for 40 years and I don't know why it never occurred to me to use bacon grease to season a pit. It does the necessary seasoning and protective coating and imparts a wonderful flavor profile. I used a metal temperature gauge inside the pit after the coals were ready to keep the fire at the recommended temperatures, and adjusted the dual vents accordingly. We grilled steaks later that evening and they were wonderful. Fully assembled the pit weighs around 40 lbs so it's no lightweight. With proper care this pit should last many years.

Excellent Grill, with a little extra TLC!
So, I read all of the reviews about rust and peeling paint after the first use, and went ahead and got one for father's day anyway. I followed the instructions for seasoning the grill closely. My wife and I are avid campers and the grill has been on several trips already, one of them being a week long. I only use lump charcoal, which grillers know burns very hot. I have cooked roughly 8 meals on the grill, and it still looks brand new. No peeling, not rust. However, I take the time to spray the grill, inside an out, with a thin coating of grilling oil after every use, wiping off the excess with a paper towel. The cooking temperature is easy to control, and every meal has turned out perfectly. I would not only recommend this grill to others, but I already have. I make a point of showing off the pristine appearance, noting that it only takes a little extra care to maintain. I am extremely pleased with the grill's performance. The grill is a little heavier than many portables, but I like that feature. It lessens the chances of it being knocked over. To me, the grill is worth more than the 66 dollars I paid for it!

Good char griller addon smoker
Great addition to the char griller charcoal grill. Add this to the side and it makes for a good offset smoker. We used it for thanksgiving and it smoked a turkey, ham and some smoked sausage. It is easy to setup, use, and maintain temperature. Once it was smoking away you only need to add wood every 30 or 40 minutes. I would recommend.

Great for using as a firebox
We bought this in order to use it as a firebox for the Char-griller 3001 gas grill. It bolted up perfectly and was easy to install. The assembly was simple and it had it together and on the grill in under 30 minutes. It was handy to have two people while putting this on the grill (it's quite heavy). We seasoned the box for a couple hours with vegetable oil at 350 degrees. We love this addition!

like it says to do
Soaked it with cooking oil and burned it off before 1st use, like it says to do, and no sign of rust or paint peeling. We use it as a grill for camping and I also use it at home once in a while, instead of the duo burn, works great.
